  1. I have that problem when gills, perch or small bass peck at the Senco.
  2. It s a big lake. What's your starting point.I do fish it but not much after the 4th. Too many crazies but if you are on the lake and get an early start it is a great fishery.
  3. I have used 2 or 3 fluro,s but now for the price the BPS is my choice. I can't see any difference with others except cost.
  4. If the other one doen't work call MinnKota.
  5. Check the GVW capacity of the truck!
  6. Welcome!
  7. As said read the articals. For a beginner and us geezers mono is a pretty good line even though I don't use it as much as before. The stretch can be a plus with some baits, momo is not as visable as braid and it is realatively cheap. It was the line of choice for many years.
  8. Larry, St. Clair is a huge lake with the possibility of three licenses, Michigan, Ontario and First Nation. I can't help you much but those that could would likely do better with more information. Where is the T launching, what is your boat what are your fishing strengths and weaknesses.
  9. Having experienced worm shaft and pawl failure many years ago I put a drop of oil on the worm shaft nearly every day of fishing.
  10. At 7.5' max depth you might want to try a split shot rig.
  11. It happens often especially with smallies. Rule on my boat if I have a fish on cast right in behind my fish. If you have a fish on I'm going to sat right in behind your fish. We get many doubles this way.
  12. Talk to your local DNR, Fish and Game what ever it's calledin your state. They are usually good source of information.
  13. I've used the Palomar knot for years with fluoro with out any problems.
  14. If you are going to take them home just whack them on the head and put in a cooler with ice.
  15. Flurro! I use 10 but there is little cover except for rocks.
  16. Are you aware of the NH marker system? Red, right, return doesn't work here. Red markers stay south and/or west. Black markers stay east and/or north. I believe you can get more info from NH Fish and Game.
  17. Are your hooks sharp?
  18. I have never fished in Algonquin but I have been in similar waters in early to late June and early july. Most of my trips ( well over 30) have been in some stage of the spawn, so I have fished shallow. I would stsrt out shallow but be prepared to move to the first drop off. If that wasn't successful I'd try mid lake humps and islands. Wish I could be of more help. The fishery is special but some what fragile so pretect it! Good luck.
  19. I have Pflueger, Daiwa, Shimano, Quantum and BPS and like them all. Oh! In addition to these bait casters I have all of the former in spinning reels plus a Browning and they are all just fine.
  20. I smash the barbs on every thing. I went to Canada to a boat in resort for many years and expanded my barb smassing to 100% there.I can't prove it but I don't think I loose aqny more fish with debarbed hooks than with barbed ones. I get the fish released faster, get the hooks out of clothes faster and it sure is easier to slip that smashed barb hook out of body parts.
  21. I fly fished for bass almost 100% many years ago. We fished a small lake in S. W. Michigan where the largies didn't seem to want anything but a cork and feather bass size popper. I am sure it is still an effective method. When the fish move off the bank and suspend or go deep fly fishing becomes less efficient.
  22. Without knowing where you fish and what kind of cover and structure you have it's hard to say. I fish lakes that are very clear without much cover except rocks. I use fluoro for most everything except surface lures and C-rigs. Surface I use mono and C-rigs I use braid with a fluro or mono leader.
  23. I would not start learning to use a baitcaster with fluro. Neaqrly everyone gets to cut off a few backlashes and why do this wqith an expensive line. Use some limp (easy to cast) mono until your learning curve flattens out a bit then go to the more expensive lines. Set your rig according to the directions then as you become more skilled you can set the cast control knob lighter so you get more distance. Good luck!
  24. I would agree with your choice of bait. I would be sure the hooks had the bards pinched and you son always wears sun glasses or some other eye protection.
  25. My first bass boat was a used Hydrosport with a 115 Merc. I fished it for 6 or 7 years and sold it for $500 less than I paid, I wouldn't automatically rule out used.
