  1. From the state where road-kill possum is a cuisine, I love bass and crappie. No harm in keeping a few and frying them. Dinks of course.
  2. A rod that was broke in half and someone's jug that failed to float. No fish on either one!
  3. I always start at Brady Mt. If you look at a topo map towards Big & Little Fur it looks like a lot of good fishing spots. From Brady Mt to Blakely dam it seems to be extremely deep and wide. I'm going to try to learn the points and secondary points along the lake.
  4. I know what you mean. I walked a Zara Spook all day one time last summer and it about wore me out. I'm trying figure out what a good topwater rod would be.
  5. Do you guys go shorter too? Seems to me a 6 footer might be easier to work.
  6. I see a lot of guys talk about high dollar rods and sensitivity and feeling the baits. My question is can you sacrifice most of that on a cheaper rod for topwater use? You are relying on your eyes to see the strike. Probably a dumb question, but I'm a big dummy.
  7. Lake Ouachita seems intimidating to me but that's because I'm new to it. What do you think makes it so hard to fish?
  8. I have two Revo S reels and love them. One is the white finish. Got it paired up with a Veritas. Just ordered a Revo SX. Hope it's nice as well. They ought to paint a 3 on the side and rename it the Intimidator!
  9. I'm gonna have to go all Dollar General on you guys, especially after all those fancy names. As of right now I'd say Abu Garcia Veritas 7'6" medium. It's a Maserati compared to a Shakespeare rod from Wal-Mart!
  10. That's kinda what I was thinking rockchalk. Everyone seems to gravitate towards the PQ so it must be a good reel. Maybe comparable price means comparable performance to other "name brands".
  11. Hey fellas. I'm located in Benton, AR. I'm not a fishing expert by any means. I know this post is old but I was looking for AR guys. This past summer me and a buddy caught a ton on DeGray in the Yancey area. We went as far back in it as we could and started working the banks with a Super Spook Jr. Later in the morning we stayed in the main channel to Yancey as they were schooling. We caught 'em all on Spooks. Awesome time! Now it's Feb and I've got a new boat so I'm fishing Ouachita as soon as the weather warms a little. Can't wait to learn this lake.
  12. Are there any Bass Pro Shops brand reels that would be as good of quality as say a Revo S? Their reels are cheaper but I wouldn't want to sacrafice quality. I know you get what you pay for, but are the other name brands just hype? Could you reccommend a Bass Pro reel? No specific uses such as gear ratio, just a model.
  13. Maybe Bielema can resurrect my fishing game! Hey, if LSU is playing somebody I'll root for them but the day after Thanksgiving...well, may the best team win! I'll try that trick with the hat on Ouachita next week.
  14. Hello from Arkansas. Been fishing since I was a kid. Trying to get serious now that I have a boat. Woo Pig Sooieeee!
