  1. What type and size hook do you use?
  2. Arkansas guys, Every week the AGFC updates fishing reports. More times than not, there is no report for Lake Ouachita. Does anyone know where I can find good reports? I may go Sunday so if I do any good I'll report back. Thanks
  3. I use Flukes and like them but that's because that's what everyone around me had. I'll have to try some other brands to broaden my perspective.
  4. I hear Maumelle is extremely tough to fish. I've heard people say no underwater timber and very clear.
  5. Funny you say that. I bought a brand new Tracker Pro Team 175 TXW in January. Fished a few times and thought "let's try this bilge pump and see if it works". I hear a funny sound from the livewell and look only to see it filling my livewell. Turns out they had the wires crossed from the factory. Quick disconnectors, took 2 seconds to fix.
  6. I can buy a lot of silicone for $50 bucks. Maybe a few more holes won't hurt.
  7. Other than cleaning, would you need to do any other prep to the aluminum surface of the boat? Lightly sand?
  8. Yeah, $50 sounded high to me. But I do like the concept.
  9. Dude, that's hilarious!
  10. Arkansas: Fish only = $10.50 Trout = +$5.00 Hunting = +$25.00 Duck = +$7.00
  11. I hate the idea of drilling additional holes in my boat for the transom mount transducer and I saw the "Stern Saver" at http://www.sternsaver.com/ This looked like a great set up. The only concerning thing would be that it is held by glue. Has anyone here used one? Do you think it is a good idea? I have thought about a shoot-thru mount but I'd like to utilize the temp reading. Thanks.
  12. Dang it! I just knew you were going to say a Zebco 33 Classic and an Ugly Stick with the glow tip. Shows what I know...
  13. Ok, so what's the perfect combination?
  14. I feel like it depends on the style or presentation you are fishing. Whichever piece, either the rod or reel, in a given scenario that is more important should have the most money spent on it. If you see both components equally important then treat them equally. Usually if you're talking about "feeling" something I would think the rod is important. If you're talking about "seeing" something, such as topwater, I would think the rod is less important. A nice reel might keep you from cussing all day...
  15. So Ned is like a half Senko and jig head? I knew about the Jika rig, just didn't know what it was called. But what is the advantage or reason for the Neko rig?
  16. Ned, Jika & Neko...sounds like characters in the Bible. I'll check them out.
  17. Ok. I follow you up to the point of networking. I currently will have one down-scan unit. Are you saying if I wanted to buy a 2nd unit I could mount it on the bow and network it with the console unit and rear transducer? Thus utilizing one fixed transducer and two displays?
  18. I'm new to owning a boat and don't know much about the electronics side. I purchased a Hummingbird 581i HD down imaging unit. I was going to mount it on the bow but a co-worker said I should mount it on the transom for a few reasons: 1) Generally, you will idle around looking for underwater images with your outboard 2) Down imaging works best on the move 3) Obviously you can't run the outboard with the trolling motor in the water I was originally thinking bow mount so I could monitor the spots I was fishing with the trolling motor after I picked them out on a topo map. Now he's got me thinking I should motor along looking with a transom mount. Tell me what you guys think. I would appreciate the input.
  19. I learned for the first time today what a "Donkey Rig" was. It got me wondering. How many different "rigs" are there?
  20. I like a Zara Spook or Super Spook. It's fun to see a bass blow it up on top of the water. I'm going to try Senkos this year as everyone has good thing to say about them.
  21. My hopes? I hope the new Bass Pro store they are building (10 minutes from my house!) is on schedule to be completed this fall!
  22. Amen. Where do you think steaks come from? And chicken breasts? I don't think it's wrong to keep fish and if you don't want to keep them that's ok too. I do side with Ted Nugent: animals DO have rights...to garlic and butter on the grill.
  23. I don't know but there was a great video posted on the homepage here. It was Mike Iaconelli talking about the Carolina Rig. I thought it was a good video. I'm always trying to learn.
  24. There have been plenty of fish hauled in with a Zebco 33 so don't down play your gear. It will work just fine. 80% of my fishing gear is Abu Garcia and as previously stated they do tend to be stiffer than rated but I love them. I have several Vendettas and Veritas. 6'9 Medium ought to be fine.
