  1. I have all those parts. I assumed that they would provide 4 nuts and bolts to mount to a surface. You know what happens when you assume...
  2. I'm a little confused. My RAM mount didn't come up with any bolts to mount to my boat. Is this typical or am I missing something?
  3. I can't really remember when I started fishing. I know I was a young kid. I really appreciate my grandfather taking me and my brother fishing when we were young. At the time, I know I took it for granted. He passed away when I was young but one of my last memories of him was fishing at a pond and I remember he landed a bass on a beetle spin! Of all the baits! I'm glad the generations before me introduced me to fishing.
  4. I looked at one of those at Academy. Almost bought one.
  5. That blue gill color would definitely work in my opinion. And something in a rainbow trout color because the Game & Fish Commission is always stocking rainbows.
  6. Is it just me or does that New Gill pattern on the Northstar Swim jig look awesome!? I don't know about the fish, but it sure looks good to me! I mostly hop and drag a jig, but explain these swim jigs to me. I've heard you throw them and fish them like a spinnerbait. True?
  7. I would second that motion to replace the trebles with sharper ones. I do this often on the Spooks. I think you're fine on the size but I like a Spook Jr.
  8. Arduous is right. I am currently in the break-in period on a 60hp 4 stroke Mercury and the whole time I'm on the lake I'm alternating rpms.
  9. My Humminbird unit has instructions for installing the transducer on the transom and it sounds like rocket science in their manual. They comment about transom angle in degrees, 15 inches from the prop, then there is some diagram showing angles for the transducer. Is there an easy way to do install it without getting lost in all the Greek instructions? Also, there is a recess at the bottom of my transom. It's something Tracker had this year on their boats (something about planing out better and "hole shots"). This is where the factory transducer is mounted but there's no way I could mount the new transducer 15 inches left or right of the prop. Should I mount it there or go up on the transom?
  10. 10-4. Looks like $35 worth spending. Double ball-joints so looks like I can adjust it to my pleasing.
  11. Those Ram mounts are the bees knees. Would I need "Light Use" or "Rugged Use"? There's about $20 difference in prices but they look the same.
  12. Yes. The width of the unit and it sitting so low cause the problem. There is only a limited amount of flat surface area and it is tight to the windshield and dash. Either a slight angle out or and elevated mount would help me.
  13. Hey guys. I'm mounting my 581 Humminbird at the console but I will need to swivel this unit 180 degrees when I fish up front. I'm mounting it on a flat surface to the right of my windshield. I need suggestions on the type and brand of mount to best serve my needs. Thanks
  14. Using the fan theory I'm going clockwise. My prop looks like yours slonezp...except I haven't hit any sand bars yet.
  15. I'm mounting a transducer. Humminbird says if the prop spins clockwise in drive, mount it to the right. Just the opposite for counter clockwise. Without running my motor, from left to right...the fin runs from the back of the prop to the front of the prop if you are looking at the boat from behind. So it looks like this... / -- O \ Emphasis on the top fin. Which direction does it spin in drive?
  16. I'm going to try some of those Carolina Keepers. Looks like a good idea.
  17. Thanks. There can be some pretty big swells out there. I know better weather is ahead. This week is terrible though, 15-20mph winds. Me and my buddy caught a few hybrids with schooling blacks on DeGray last summer. My personal best striper was 33lbs on Lake Greeson in March of 1999. What a mammoth! It altered my view on swimming in lakes...
  18. I love your enthusiasm! I think what you're referring to is the "Honey Badger Rig". And to think this whole time all I was doing wrong was wearing the wrong colors...
  19. The guy at Bass Pro was cool. I forgot to bring some reels to trade so he tossed me two Zebco 202's for $5 a piece and told me to go check out then turn around and trade them. It was a net savings of $20 after trade in and purchase.Turns out they donate them to the local Boy Scouts troop. Neat deal.
  20. Do you guys think the C-rig is a good year-round rig? I know as the weather heats up in the midday sun I throw them during summer but right now water temps are high 40's, maybe 50.
  21. I bought some gear at the BPS sale and on the list was a Pro Qualifier. I'm looking forward to using it. I've got it paired up with a new JM Carbonlite micro guide rod. I've got mostly Abu stuff but the guy was pushing BPS brands hard and I can respect that so I'm giving them a chance. Hope I love them both.
  22. By the way, good to see you, fellow Hog!
  23. Do you think tungsten makes that big a difference? I always throw lead but recently bought tungsten.
