  1. It's not a line slipping issue. It's a spool not turning with featherlite resistance issue. I agree with you guys. I drop $129 on a reel, there better be some customer service with it. But I'm a level headed guy. I'll take it to Bass Pro. They've always been good. The only bad thing is I'm in the twilight zone of Bass Pro stores. I either have to drive to Bossier City, LA or Memphis, TN or Branson, MO.
  2. Looks like this baby is going back to Bass Pro or Abu. Took it apart and back together. Couldn't tell if it was a fishing reel or a 350 small block. I don't know of any other options seeing as you guys don't have it sitting in front of you. Wouldn't it be easier on me to have Bass Pro exchange it for another? I have records of the purchase.
  3. Hahaha, guys...we got all kinds of stuff going on here. I got guys arguing whether or not you should spend over $100 on reels. Here's a brief synopsis: Purchase Date: December 2012 Make: Abu Garcia Model: Revo S (third generation, pearl color) $129.99 at Bass Pro Line: Fluoro or Mono Drag: Turned clockwise all the way Spool Tension: Turned Clockwise all the way Clean: Reel has not been serviced. Used 4 times and have caught 1 fish. Limited Use. Drag Washers: Look like this ( ) I took the reel apart. I inspected the plastic gears. I inspected the metal gears. I am not a qualified reel repair man. To the untrained eye I would not know what is wrong. There is a small gear that the axel of the spool sits in which seems to be loosely fitted but I don't know if that is wrong or right fit.
  4. Took reel apart they are oriented ()
  5. Yes, the spool tension knob has been turned clockwise all the way and the drag star has been turned clockwise all the way. This would indicate to me maximum tension and drag.
  6. Ok, update: I'm at the lake. Drag maxed, spool tension maxed. The spool will retrieve with the turn of the handle but the moment you pinch the line with your fingers above the line guide it will not retrieve. It feels as if the gears don't want to grab if the slightest resistance is applied. What's up with that?
  7. Hahahahahah. This is true. I'm not sure how that helped me... Anyways I'm heading to the lake. I'm spooling up this reel with some more line and I'm going to set the drag tighter than I normally would and after 100 casts if it doesn't do it again I'm going to blame it on operator error. I know it sounds like a noob or rookie post but I would have bet the house that I didn't have the drag set too loose. HOWEVER, I did have my blinders on when I hooked the previous fish. It's the first time it's happened to me so OF COURSE there's no way it could be my fault right?!? LOL
  8. Nope. Got it for Christmas this year.
  9. No, it's good. I always check that.
  10. No, I know it sounds like a rookie post. I checked the drag right after happened. I got home and tried to recreate it. Don't know what it was.
  11. My best results with RatLTraps or any lipless is along weeds, grass or brush.
  12. That's what I don't get. I messed with the drag after that happened. I guess maybe I had some how backed it off to the point of disaster. But I literally just now backed the drag all the way off and it still turned the spool. I thought it was odd that it didn't turn the spool even under minimal drag setting.
  13. Not only does the Trap cover water but I think just about anything will eat them. I threw a Trap yesterday and had a big striper nail it and I was able to boat him. I think the official color was Diamond Dust or some variant. I have a picture of fish but can't figure out posting a picture in the forum topics. Anyhow, the 1/2 oz Trap and some 12# Berkley big game line worked out well. Just wish I was catching black bass.
  14. I have a reel (whose manufacturer will remain anonymous) that has failed. Its cost is between $125-$150 is all I'll say. It is a baitcaster. I made a cast, retrieved, felt a bump along the way, set the hook and an immediate birds nest of epic proportions occurred. Not on a cast, mind you. The worm gear turns, but not the spool. I strip the line on the boat, take it home, turn the handle and it turned the spool as if nothing happened. I don't trust the reel now. What could be wrong with it?

  16. X2. You might bite off more than you can chew with some fella one day.
  17. Where I live we'll be at the tail end of a front that has passed through but I don't care. I'm fishing tomorrow. Winds out of the east..fish bite the least. I'm still going fishing. High of 71, sunny with winds 4mph out of the east. A bad day of fishing tomorrow will beat work!
  18. I have read the latest issue cover to cover and love it. Is there any chance of a monthly publication in the future? Great job on your magazine!
  19. I purchased this magazine off the newstand and I really liked the magazine. The only bad part was a subscription was only 4 issues. Regardless, I liked this publication more than other magazines. Anyone else read BAM?
  20. I've read a few articles of pros using a 1-2 punch approach to catching fish. 1 being a lure that they can locate the fish with, then 2 being some sort of finesse method to "clean 'em up". What is your bait of choice to cover a lot a water before you slow down and clean them up?
  21. That baby is clean! Don't know what the cost of the 571 is but I've got the 581i HD DI. It may be worth spending a little more. No matter what you buy have fun!
  22. What knot would you guys use to attach leader to braid on these spinning set ups?
  23. The race at California redeemed NASCAR. We got the finish we were asking for. Too bad for Lagano because now he's got Smoke to deal with and I can't think of a better track for redemption than next week at Martinsville. I'm saying given the chance, Smoke will put him in the grandstands. And speaking of Smoke that leads me to Eldora. I am actually excited for a Camping World Truck Series race (Daytona excluded). They will be running on dirt! I love it. I would love to see the upper echelon of the NASCAR racing series follow suit. I don't see that happening any time soon but here's to wishing. If you haven't seen it, search YouTube to see the practice session at Eldora earlier this year. $0.02
