  1. Yep frogs, jigs and 12" Power Worms. Also don't be afraid to punch through the veg heavy and quick, to get the big ones to react. Good luck!
  2. If you have two, maybe try one with and one without to see if any difference to the fish. Sometimes the "wrong" action works better....
  3. Can also try the UV baits. Similar principle, but different....
  4. Sure, just don't expect to get appreciated by your fellow bassers on the water....
  5. Also depends on size of bass (more big bass have been caught on jigs) and where you're talking -- for ex, in Cali it would be swimbaits (fish), TX would be jigs/plastics (craws), etc.
  6. Absolutely. Many killer shallow-running hard baits. One of my faves for smallies, among several Strike King and Rapala baits, is the Luhr Jensen Speed Trap if they still make it....
  7. It's very effective but the bite has to be on in the right way. It's mostly a pre-spawn tool, and usually you have to be around bait but not necessarily. Size, type of swimbait, etc. also important. Pretty much have to throw it all day to get the bites...from what I hear because I don't!
  8. Really recommend putting it in your hand before you buy. Not 100% necessary, but I always like to feel it first. Gotta feel right, wiggle right, have the right tip....
  9. Pretty much any head will do, but use a shakey head if you want to stop it or bounce it. If you want/need to rig it weedless, that's a different story.

Welcome NJ bassin' brother! The expense is part of the fun, man!
  11. That's it!
  12. Water type = upland reservoir. What time of year?
  13. Rootbeer curly-tail grub on a jighead (max 1/4-oz). Never fails.
  14. They are for sure awesome-looking, but this year the fish will tell all!
  15. Forgot: Invest in chartreuse. When all else fails, use a rootbeer grub.
  16. Too awesome, man. Congrats. Jealous!
  17. Best way to make a bass bigger -- hold it the right way. If you don't know how, practice at home with just about anything in front of a mirror or camera. Seriously. Works!
  18. Never have bonded with a spinnerbait. Kevin VanDam on the other hand....
  19. I think smallies are more apt to hit them year-round more than largies, but Zell Rowland would disagree!
  20. They are line shy at various times and places. It's impossible to say why, just note it and adjust accordingly.
  21. Smallies are easier to FIND on sunnier days because they are roamers and roam like crazy on cloudy days. They are more visual in feeding than largies too.
  22. What up Charlie? That was Zona - he's an awesome dude, man!
  23. Swimbait or topwater, depending on how deep the grass is.
  24. Would love to be fishin' those river smallies there -- great stuff!
  25. Not the big ones, but the smaller ones can be, especially during the spawn.
