  1. I'd say 2.5 to 3 lbs, but in a month or two they'll weigh more!
  2. Cool man! Usually all it takes is one good bass....
  3. No. I get some expensive baits free because I'm in the biz, but usually don't take 'em out of the box or give them to friends. Just not my thing, probably because the subtleties don't mean enough to me/my skill. But I will spend stupid money on rods and reels....
  4. Tougher here on some lakes, like Round Valley, but Spruce Run is okay. With warmer, wetter spring, spawn seems to be less concentrated too.
  5. FLW pros are sick of having to throw it or lose, glad FLW is listening to them. Plenty of fish will be caught, just some limits in some events may not be as heavy. Ranger does NOT own the FLW Tour. Used to have shared ownership, not the case anymore.
  6. Everyone's lost a giant and they all haunt us...or at least me!
  7. It's not about luck or anyone with the $ could do it, and that's not the case. It's a tough life, not for everyone, the great ones are masters at a lot of skills, ones that have nothing to do with fishing.
  8. Try under the school and around the first cover or structure near the school.
  9. Get a god map and a good depth finder and your world will change forever...for the better!
  10. Might try the rubber band trick, just not sure if that'll work on a spinnerbait.
  11. Ask whoever owns it to stock some bass? Volunteer to pay for it maybe?
  12. Very cool, love to see a pic from down there if enough light.
  13. He/she can keep it. Fishing is not an NCAA sport.
  14. Try a topwater in the morning, but I think the bottom line is if you put it where they live, they will eat it. For sure a swim jig can work.
  15. Not worried. I'm in my 40s, and most of us as kids crimped lead split shot with our teeth, as did those who taught us to fish. Would we all have been geniuses if we didn't? Maybe.... Don't do that now, mostly because I don't use split shot anymore, and tungsten weights are so much better anyhow....
  16. The best reel by Shmano you can afford is your best bet. If it's mostly for plastics, would get one with a faster gear ratio.
  17. Also rocks -- tungsten is better. It' a place I kind of hate to use tungsten because you lose some rigs, but it doesn't get mashed up like lead does. Anytime I'm around rock, I go with tungsten. Actually, anytime I have tungsten I use it.
  18. Technique and line size should determine this. I'd rather fish with a baitcaster any day, so would most top pros, but sometimes you have to use spinning gear because it's called for.
  19. Maybe this is it? http://www.tva.com/river/aquatic_weed_control.htm
  20. Cranks, spinnerbaits, soft jerkbaits. Have to find out if the bass want the exact same size or go big...like maybe with a 12" worm. Also suggest fishing early or late there, and maybe spending some time with a #6 hook and taking out a mess of 'gills.
  21. Awesome! One of my favorite baits. I like the Jr version best....
  22. JayKumar replied to Kevin22's topic in Fishing Tackle
Cool. Can try swimming it too....
  23. Cool color, but def all rock bass...at least that's how it looks....
  24. Absolutely thumb the spool right before it hits the water. Backlashes are one reason, presentation is another. Your friend either has the brakes set tight or is thumbking the spool before he thinks he is....
  25. Good advice here. I would add that black is a great color for stained and muddy water, and sometimes crazy colors like pink even work...if you can make yourself throw them....
