  1. Thanks guys, I didn't smell the sulfur smell and the water levels have been steady. I was watching our state wildlife show last night and on the fishing report section they mentioned that some of the lakes are starting to turn. I guess I just work on honey do's for a week.
  2. I had a few hours this afternoon, so I thought I'd hit my local lake before this front moves through. I loaded up my dog and headed out. I pull up at the ramp and immediately noticed the color was off. Brown instead of green tint. So needless to say, a very tough bite. I managed one dink. I fished the dam area and saw thousands of dead shad.. literally thousands. This lake is overran with shad anyway but I have never seen that many floating at once. Also, there were thousands of crawdads right at the waters edge. These were alive, but I had no idea this lake so many crawdads. I guess the turnover forced them on the bank? Between them and the shad and the pressure it gets, its no wonder why its such a tough bite. Water temp was 67.8. Is anybody else seeing this?
  3. I've had days where they were smokin spinnerbaits but couldn't get a bump on the jig. But I don't test it too much, if one works I stay with it.
  4. I keep it simple. Spinnerbaits when they are feeding. Jigs when they are not.
  5. I've had success with 4-5 inch Senko type baits on skirted jigs, I'm sure others would work.
  6. Very sad, thoughts and prayers for the family
  7. I don't always throw c-rigs, but when I do I use mojo.
  8. Quality, but sometimes my buddy will be wearing out little ones and I switch over to shut him up. Once I'm on the board, I go back to my jig.
  9. I was on vacation in Florida a few years back. I found a little park with a lake, then went to a local bait shop and bought the license. I bet I hadn't been fishing 15 mins and a CO pulled up and checked me. I wouldnt risk it.
  10. Ive been fishing it a lot this year. I've mainly been moving it in short drags and hops with very short pauses in between, maybe a second or two after it settles. I don't let it sit long except if its the first pitch around cover, then ill wait a little bit before starting the retieve. I set the hook as soon as I feel something a little different...weightlessness, tic, etc. Waiting a few seconds before setting the hook will save you some jigs, but cost you some bass. IMO.
  11. About 20, but that's rare. Usually my "deep fish" are caught in 10-15.
  12. Thanks, what didn't you like about the fluoro?
  13. Any opinions on their fluoro? A local store sells their copolymer which I have on all of my rods, but they don't carry the fluoro. I have to get it online, is it worth it?
  14. Wow, that's a tough one. My PB was on a white spinnerbait. But the Jig is my "go to" lure. Meaning when I "go to" the lake, its always tied on.
  15. Same as many of the others, I'm RH, switched to LH reels many years ago. It took a full day to get used to it but it was worth it.
  16. Don't always think new color or new bait. Drop speed!!! Pitch different weighted jigs 1/4, 1/2, etc. If that doesn't work, try other stuff. Senkos, etc.

Thanks for the responses. I have white spinnerbaits, I just have never thrown all white worms, tubes, or cranks. But it sounds like I need to... Thanks

I have a local lake that I've been fishing for several years. Keep in mind, I'm a weekend warrior and just fish for fun. The water at this lake has some stain and dark lures (black/blue), green pumpkin, etc. have worked ok. Yesterday, there was a medium size tournament coming in. Our bite had been slow with darker plastics. I happened to notice that every tournament boat that I saw had solid white lures tied on. White tubes, spinnerbaits, worms, crankbaits, etc. Have I been missing out, is white a good color for you guys?
  19. This summer I was out one day and my trolling motor steering cable broke. So I was forced to anchor. Its amazing how thorough you work an area when anchored. I caught more fish off this one point than I ever had. So, just take a hammer to your trolling motor
  20. Fishing with my dad the past 4 or 5 years, before he passed last year. Taking my son and daughter is a close second. My funniest moment was a big group of partying pontooners watched me set the hook and bring in a 4 lber. They were in a festive mood and started yelling and cheering. I felt like I was on tv, lol.
  21. After struggling early, I had a very good day on the IncrediCraw this summer when I got on a nice pitching pattern. So sometimes less action is the key I guess. Unless I had the color/weight just right. Who knows, its fun trying to figure it all out though.
