  1. Reading the last few posts reminds me that there are so many variables. First, species... Spots, Smallies, Largemouth (Florida/Northern). Then different waters...natural lakes, reservoirs, rivers. Even the size of fish. John Hope's research showed that bass larger than about 7lbs behave different. They suspend in deep water during most of the day and come in middle depths 8-12 to feed at night flushing up prey as they move up and down the structure. It's no wonder there are so many opinions and observations like Roger mentioned.
  2. In my "terminal tackle" box. Hooks, weights, Carolina Keepers, Fish Sticks Attractant, braid scissors, and clippers.
  3. I always have my pfd on and kill switch attached when I make a run. But I take off the pfd when fishing, but reading this makes me think I should leave it on at all times. Thanks for the post.
  4. Sounds very similar to John Hope's research.
  5. Roger, what studies are you referring to? I'd like to read more about them. I've read some John Hope material and that makes me want to fish at night more this year.
  6. I've been throwing a rig that I saw somebody on here call a Missouri rig. Its kind of a hybrid of the two, but fished more like C-rig. My setup is braid main tied to a three way swivel. One leader is about a foot with a jig or heavy texas rig. The other leader is about 2 feet to a weightless plastic of your choice. I use the same braid for the leader to the jig. Copolymer for the weightless one. I started using it late last year with some success.
  7. Officials here are saying that it will reach Louisville,KY tomorrow. They said it would be like a drop in 500 whiskey barrels. I wouldn't think that would hurt the fish.
  8. McCoy is hard to beat.
  9. Put me in the action first, color second camp. I do remember one spring day though where me and a buddy were dragging lizards. Same weight, speed, size. He's getting bit, I'm not. He was throwing watermelon red, I was throwing watermelon. I make the change and instantly start getting bit. Just a little red flake was the difference.
  10. Thanks everybody, I am looking at all of these.
  11. I plan to get off the bank a little, fish a little more after dark.
  12. Thanks, who sells those?
  13. Anybody know of a good one? My old one broke. It had the suction cups but I would like to stay away from that type. Thanks
  14. Your spots look good. I also like the west bank of the island that's at the mouth of the cove between 75th and 79th. Looks like it would create a funnel there during low light/night for bass move up and feed.
  15. This site helps. I've organized my tackle, worked on the boat, and am reading as much as I can about fishing structure.

I'd say its a confidence thing. Those Senkos, creatures, and others will catch tons of fish...just like the lizard. But having confidence is half of the battle. I know if I'm working a lure, but thinking about another one that's on deck, I don't fish it as thorough. Stay with it..save money..and catch fish.
  17. Congrats...
  18. Nitro, thanks. What depth is that section of road in?
  19. Good thread Catt, thanks for bumping it back up.
  20. Didn't try to make it sound like its never talked about. But hey, its going to 0 degrees, with several inches of snow this weekend. I gotta do something fishing related. As far as depth changes, will they alone hold fish, or do you need some cover?
  21. Thanks, so the anchor is just to slow you down?
  22. I see a lot of lure/ line threads on here, along with what's your favorite color when fishing in the rain on a Tuesday afternoon, but I don't see a lot of structure talk.. other than to fish it. I'd like to hear a structure spot described on your lake that YOU have had the most success. You don't have to mention the lake. I think this will help us bank beaters. My #1 structure spot is a long point with timber that drops into a creek channel. I used to just pitch in the forest lol, but now I've learned to circle bank around the outside and fish the drop (tree line) on the feeder creek side with a jig or C-rig and can usually pick some off it. Who's next?
  23. Good looking jig.
  24. Norman is my favorite. Sometimes a Rapala Jointed Shad, worked in short sweeps and pauses is the ticket around here.

You can C-Rig any soft plastic. Lizards seem to be popular. I've caught em off brush hogs, Senkos, worms, tubes, etc. A square bill crank on the back of a c-rig has worked for me. BTW, a guide once told me that women almost always outfish men on a C-Rig because they are more patient and fish it slower.
