  1. Never heard of it...what's the theory?
  2. I've had a little saying for years one's a fluke, two's a pattern. If I'm throwing jigs and my buddy's throwing cranks, I wait till he has two before switching.
  3. All great responses. A guide told me that women out fish men in his boat when c-rigging because women are more patient and fish it slow. Rod tip down and to the side, drag in 1 to 2 feet pulls. Reel up slack and wait a little bit. A lot of hits are on the pause or the first movement after a pause. I've never had a problem getting bit on a c-rig but landing them is another story...lol. On the bite, keeping line tight, reel fast till rod is pointed toward fish and as soon as rod starts to load sweep rod back not up and crank hard. I rarely go heavier than 1/2 oz and I drag out to 20-25 feet.
  4. My experience has been when the water is up and rising or up and stable, the shallow flooded bite is on. When it's high but dropping hard (1 foot or more per day) it gets dicey.
  5. I'd work that flat/adjacent drops on the left with a Carolina rig. I use a Carolina Keeper and always use a Mojo style weight (usually 1/2 oz). The weight will fall deep into the grass but the lure will catch, hang and spring loose for some crazy action. The keeper allows for quick adjustment of the leader if needed. Good luck.

  7. After this spring, my favorite lure is a 1/2 oz arky jig in black/blue. I've caught them pitchin shallow, dragging deep, and swimming it just below the surface. This jig can do it all. Of course, I do reserve the right to change my mind tomorrow.
  8. Kind of off topic, but Carolina Keepers are perfect for adjusting your leader length on the fly to find out what they'll hit.
  9. My local tackle shop owner turned me on to Mccoy copoly years ago specifically for spinning gear. It's the only line I buy. Negatives...unless you have a local dealer you'll have to order online.
  10. I read the whole post...just curious where the numbers come from. Rounded or not. There are a lot of variables that I won't even pretend to know...forage base, ph, etc. I just do see how you can come up with any estimates like that without tracking studies. Studies I've seen suggest that bass move relatively shallow to feed at night and occasionally during the day; but spend most daylight hours suspended over deeper water.
  11. Where are these numbers from? Are we talking deep water reservoirs? If 20% never come shallow, how do they spawn?
  12. Lol...I hear ya. I think Tennessee did recognize it first if I remember right.
  13. We all know that fish was caught across the state line in KY waters.
  14. Do you guys spend a lot of time on suspended fish that you mark? Or do you mainly look for fish on or near the bottom?

  16. McCoy...strong and very low memory. It's on all of mine except for one braid setup.
  17. Senkos can be deadly on a c-rig but so can any other plastic. Lizards and Creatures are probably the most popular but don't limit yourself. I've even used a shallow square bill in 20+ feet to catch em on a c-rig.
  18. Welcome to the club. I joined last year, lol.
  19. Thanks for clearing it up... so the hook type makes it a Dredge series? How does this hook up compared to a round bend? I might have to grab a few in your Arky head....Thanks again....
  20. Just curious...when would you throw a dredge over an arky or football? Thanks

I've been using a 1/2 oz Arky jig for a few weeks and I think it's one of the most versatile jigs I've used. Short drags and hops with short pauses work for me. Work it all the way back to boat.. Good luck.
  22. I hate to throw a lot of expensive stuff from the bank because it's hard to get them out when snagged. I'd grab some 3/16 oz bullet weights, 3/0 hooks, and some Berkley Power Hawgs in green pumpkin. Good luck and have fun!
