What color worm works best for y'all? Especially while fishing off the bank of a lake in about 5 foot deep water?

Clear - Watermelon Red

Stained - Black, Junebug

I've never not caught fish with any of the purple/pink roboworms though.  They always seem to slay.

Stained...I start with a Okeechobee magic combo, then switch to a pumpkin.

Exactly, I would say that 80% of the time you will catch fish with those 3.

A split shot rigged 6" black worm straight natural tail.

Purple 6"

Baby bass 6"

Green shad 6"

Black shad 10" / 12"

Red shad. 10" / 12"

Fish it slow.

What worm Color? Most will say ...... It's a tough call but these have worked for me.

My top 3 colors are black, green pumpkin and grape (purple with sparkles). Powerbait is the only worm I use.

I was fishing clear water yesterday. I used watermelon with red flakes, green pumpkin with gold flakes, and dark purple with green and red flakes. One of the bass I caught jumped and ejected a solid white worm.

 

It makes no difference to the fish what color you use. 

Keep it simple with soft plastic colors.  A good article was just posted about this on ***

 

Clear water and sunny: Watermelon, watermelon red, watermelon candy, pumpkin

Dirty water and sunny: Junebug, black/red glitter, black/blue glitter

Clear water and cloudy: Green pumpkin, green pumpkin blue, green pumpkin purple

Dirty water and cloudy: Black, black and blue, dark blue.

I throw dark colored worms in dirty water, and tend to toss em all in clear water. The smalljaws here like black and green pumpkin in chrystal clear water, too. Dont waste too much time wondering about color. Let the fish show you what they want, regardless of what everyone else is using.

I throw Green Pumpkin and Watermelon Red more than anything else. I like Okeechobee Craw a bit too.

In clear water in South Jersey I have been having good luck with the purpleish power worms

Clear- green pumpkin or watermelon 

Dirty- black

Night time- pink yamamotos work unbelievably 

In clear water, few colors are better than good old green pumpkin and watermelon type colors.

 

In stained, I like tequila sunrise, black red, black blue, white, lemon, and chartreuse colors.

 

Murky, I would go for black, black/blue, bubblegum, and junebug.

I fish exclusively from the bank and mostly in shallow water. I have a ton of colors in my bag but for 99 percent of my fishing I use watermelon red, green pumpkin, junebug and black/blue. Those should handle just about any situation you will find. 

Clear water- watermelon red flake, watermelon pearl laminate, pumpkin

Muddy water- black, junebug

Black for stained water. Green pumpkin for clear. Other colors obviously work as well but that covers a lot.

 

As a side note, Master Bait'r has the greatest profile picture ever.

Darker green through brown 90% of the time.

 

I have tried every color in the spectrum at one time or another.  I can cite rare occasions when I lucked into a great day on either blue or white/clear and sometimes red/black.  Pinks and bright oranges have never been good for me in this area.

 

But, I am terrible at predicting when something other than green will work, so I'll toss something else when bite is off, but I'd be well served to pretty much eliminate all the colors in my binder that aren't pumpkin/watermelon/browns. 

 

Arrrrgggghhh.....but, as soon as I reduce to just a single white Senko, that will be the one they want and it'll be shredded after two fish and I'll have deep, long-lasting regrets.  Someday, I'll be able to get into a boat with less than 30 pounds of plastics....just not anytime soon

This is so true. I've got a pretty good handle (at least I think so) on colors that work well in the local reservoirs I fish. But the interesting thing is I talk to other people and their success comes on completely different colors, some of which never work for me.

 

To the OP, natural colors (IMO) work best, the watermelons, green pumpkins, blacks, etc. Variations on those themes may or may not work as well.

 

Personally I like watermelon magic, green pumpkin magic, GP Gold flake (zoom trick), GP + chartreuse tail, straight black, watermelon red flake, gold flake, among my arsenal. And of course Bass Pro's "pepper frog hot orange" color.
