  1. Ficus berries are the best
  2. the alligator alley canal is the L68A. it runs into the L68 canal which takes you to the alley. the middle canal is called the center canal. it takes you to the miami canal. the middle of nowhere canal is the billy west trail and it is an airboat trail that leads to the flats. the south canal is the L67. it runs to the tamiami trail. the rule of thumb with that whole fishery is this: the finger canals usually start first when the bite is good, followed by the alley which is followed by the center canal and the miami canal followed by the L67 and ending with the tamiami trail. the past 2 years have been horrible out there because of the high water. hopefully the water goes down before the second round of the king of the glades series. if the water stays high, look for hank krieg and skip reed to dominate. nobody fishes the flats better than those 2 cats.
  3. mark king out of clewiston. go to markkingfishing.com. if you have a facebook, check out the pigs he caught last week (live bait).
  4. tough bite for sure. my partner and i had 12 pounds. we caught well over 40 fish, but nothing of size. we culled 2 of our fish at 3 o'clock and had to hurry to make it back in by 3:30. my partner came in 11th in the bfl the day before, and we went back to that same area and just didnt get the big bite. no matter how tough the lake is, someone ALWAYS figures them out. just wasn't us.
  5. i watched roberts golf course video and it inspired me to hit up some of my old golf course spots. i haven't fished these spots for over 25 years, and they still produce. it was like taking a walk down memory lane. the good thing was, i left them biting!
  6. No worries Clayton. I was getting a little worried that you did not receive my package. The jig is from a company called "yank em" and they have been producing some amazing fish for me of late, and I can honestly say they are the best jigs i have ever used! The ninja spin is a spinner bait that gambler used to make. The pointer, well, it speaks for itself. I hope you catch many fish brother. Enjoy!
  7. Rob, i was on the lake all day yesterday. we had 6 bites and caught 4 fish. the water was 57 degrees when we put in at 9am. all of our bites came when the water reached 65 degrees. i did learn something new, you can take the inside trail from the seven mile ditch all the way down to cochranes. our biggest fish was 3 pounds.
  8. Thank you Hi Salenity for the generous package. i actually used those "rage menace" baits last sunday on okeechobee and flipped up 3 keepers! i will be experimenting with those baits for sure. Thanks again and have a Merry Christmas.
  9. i was at lox as well yesterday. i went to the second spillway, went through the cut and flipped the entire hard line back to the ramp. i caught 2 dinks and lost a good one flipping. its tough fishing everywhere. those fish are gonna move in deep soon.
  10. they are everywhere in lake ida. for years i thought they were small tarpon until a local guide clued me in. never caught one. im sure live bait would work.
  11. Mike and I fished it. We had 12 pounds, but left at 2:30. Just couldn't find big fish. The ironic thing is, we fished 3 areas and the top 3 boats of the tourny were in those areas. Either our timing was off or we weren't throwing the right baits.
  12. i fished from sun up til 5 on saturday. we ran from clewiston to the monkey box and found fish everywhere we went. the problem we found was that most of the fish were small. we managed a couple of 4 pounders, but nothing compared to the winning sacks that have been coming in. 18 pounds is all we could muster on saturday. i don't think im gonna fish the ghosts and goblins tourny. i will still be on the lake, but i can't justify dropping $120 when im not on anything big.
  13. that's pretty funny rob. you sound like my wife. lol. i was only on the water for about 90 minutes.
  14. i have been on some giants at lox. i decided to try and capture some of the fish on video. this is my first vid.
  15. mike if the tourny was on saturday you would have crushed everybody. your sack on saturday was 25+ pounds. timing and luck had a lot to do with mike and my victory.
  16. i took my kids fishing today at loxahatchee from 11:30-2. i was hoping my daughter would last longer, but i can't complain because she lasted close to 3 hours. i really couldn't take the kids to the area that i wanted to, because i knew ava wouldn't last too long. connor was a champ casting and reeling on his own, and ava is still learning. i was catching a bunch of little ones when i asked ava if she wanted to reel a fish in. she did and she was stoked! connor didn't catch a fish, but he didn't complain and kept on chunkin. i let connor drive the boat in the no wake zone back to the ramp. he was stoked! my kids are growing up too fast.
  17. fished my club tourney at loxahatchee and we wacked 'em! we had 22.9 pounds and we caught all of our big fish on topwater. we caught well over 60 fish and more than half were 3-4 pounders. super fun day!
  18. whenever i am in an area that hasn't produced a fish, i'll say "i think we're pettin a dead dog"
  19. going saturday. i can't wait.
  20. yea buddy! hopefully those fish will move back into the grass. i like fishing offshore, but i love fishing the green stuff.
  21. exactly what i was thinking. i have several times brought my surfboard into the can while dropping a duece. a thief is an opportunist who will take advantage of every situation.
  22. have a great year. i teach and i don't go back until monday (uuugggg). sam is spot on with what he said. wish i could go back and re-do my highschool years. it would have saved me a lot of $ on classes i did not need to take in college.
  23. well said parrotthead. now if we can just get those people who flick their ciggarette butts in the water to stop.
