  1. congrats. i hope to see ya on the lake. going next wednesday if you're gonna be there let me know.
  2. dang stu! that is a monster. i caught one about that size and it worked me----and i was in a boat! right on man. 7seas here in boca has a huge selction of star rods and you can haggle them.
  3. do not bring a boat. bring a surfboard and a surfcaster. i used to go to the outer banks every summer for many years, and i always saw guys catching redfish and many other species from the beach. not only is there great surf, but the beach fishing is fantastic. enjoy.
  4. nice piece shane. i love that i grew up on c-14 and you were there filming. great job bro. my son was so stoked knowing that he actually caught a snakehead bigger than erics. you are the MAN!
  5. these handles are amazing! mike and robert have a great product. i put one on my curado cu100B and another on my curado cu200. the 100B i use for spinnerbaits/traps and prop baits and the extra length adds extra power and speed when retrieving. the other i have on my frog rod and during the king of the glades classic, it helped me tremendously when i was hauling those big fish out of the junk. wishing you guys the best of luck with your new product.
  6. what's up john. welcome to BR
  7. had a tourny there a couple of weeks ago. go to the c-15 and go west. throw pop r's, small spooks and swim a gambler big ez. the winner had 21 pounds. i fished south of ida by the high school and caught a bunch on a small spook and white spinnerbait. i had 16 pounds, but i caught fish all day long.
  8. nice wheels kid. where ya gonna put the rod holders?
  9. i love that baby popper. that bait helped me win king of the glades. i caught some monsters on that bait. i have fished with my partner and he was throwing the big one, and i easily outfished him. love that bait! just wished they made more colors in the that size.
  10. i was fishing the same area as juan (the guy in the storm). it was windy and had a good chop on the water. we left to go to another spot and when we weighed in we heard what happened. the storms owner was val who owns gambler baits. juan and his partner are ok. i haven't heard about the boat. we were power poled down in that same area, and we had waves coming over the back of the boat but my partners boat is a lake and bay and like most flats boats, they are self bailing. i guess the older storms are not. juan had close to 20 pounds and would have won the tourny. 13 pounds won. we had 11.33 and came in third. it was a rough (literally) day on the water.
  11. Directions to Florida Boat Ramps
  12. thanks fellas. i wish shimano and strike king would come callin doug. fishy- we just were in an area that was antwhere between 2 feet and 5.5 feet. we just kept our eye on the depth because every fish was caught between 3.6 and 3.9 feet. it was dead calm when we caught all of our fish. when the wind started to blow, the bite slowed tremendously. usually on lake o, wind is always better. rob, there was a flyer on my windshield at belle glade promoting the walgreens event. there were 44 boats.
  13. fished the walgreens tourny today with a guaranteed $2500 for 1st and they paid top ten boats. it was brutal hot today, so we decided to hit our spot first thing in the morning. as we were running to our spot we noticed a lot of fish busting the surface eating shad. we stopped and took a couple of cast with zero bites. continued on towards our spot and we saw more fish busting. we stopped, and for the next 2 hours we caught between 50 and 75 fish on rattle traps, spooks and big worms. we had 4 double hook ups and we were slaying them. my partner bangs a 5 pounder and i net the fish. as i am pulling his fish out of the water, i see 3 more 5 pounders swimming behind it. i hurried and set mikes fish on the deck, grabbed my rod only to have the trap get stuck in my shirt, at the same moment, the 5 pounder i just netted jumps out of the net and into the water. i was a little ticked. we kept plugging away, and we ended up with 19.79 and took fourth place. if that fish doesn't get away, we end up in third which was a $250 difference. oh well, thats fishing. the winner had 33 pounds, second was 24, third was 21 and we had 19.79. the magic number for depth today was 3.6 to 3.9. if we got into water that was deeper, we did not get bit. it's crazy how that lake works. still love it though.
  14. try the delong or the gambler 16".
  15. right on dale! i was a snook and tarpon junkie until i fished my first bass tourny. i have a couple of spots in the jupiter inlet that hold lots of snoooks. what night do you want me to come up? like doug, i'll invite myself.
  16. thanks fellas. robert i just happened to luck into a significant depth change. i was telling mike that i found water that went from 3.9 to 5.1 feet. it was only an area about 30 yards, but they were crushing traps and spinnerbaits. im hoping that area holds up for next sunday. those fish were super strong. every fish i said "get the net", but it was only a 2 pounder. they all fought like they were 5 pounders. it was a great session!
  17. fished a tourny out of slims today and won with 20.86 pounds. we also had big fish 7.86. we caught at least 60 fish from sun up til noon, then the bite was gone. glad we sacked 'em when we did. here is a cheesy pic of the 7 pounder and our smallest fish. all fish were caught on spinnerbaits and rattle traps.
  18. got in the water around 1 and immediately noticed that the water had dropped at least 2 feet since last week and they were still moving water. the water was ripping to the east faster than i had ever seen it move. i didn't want to take a chance running west with the low water, so we decided to fish the cuts down the canal. first cut and a nice fish smacks my prop bait out of the water. mike throws in behind me and bangs a 4 pounder. started letting the wind push us east, and we fan casted into the open water with the eel grass. mike was throwing a big ez and banged another 3+ fish. i started to flip the heads and started getting some bites. then i got a thump and and boated this chunk. mike and i would have had 16-18 pounds in 4 hours. that guy is big fish magnet.
  19. dang jdw, i use the same rod for the exact same applications. i also throw a skitterprop and a scrounger with it.
  20. a blind squirrel finds a nut every once in awhile eric. going to lox late morning with mike---join us. heck yea i'm making up that lost time!
  21. right on!
  22. wow! nice mike. my friend was out there yesterday and banged a 7.6. i was there on wednesday from noon til dark and we crushed 'em out west. our biggest was 6, but we had a mess of 3,4,5 pounders. lox is the place right now. i will call u later to set up a lake trip for wednesday. just gotta watch the weather. here is a pic of his 7.6
  23. i will be in arundel maine on 7-18 thru 7-24. if anyone has room on their boat or just take a florida guy fishing, i will pay for gas. i would love to catch some fish while i'm there. if anyone is coming to florida this summer i will be more than happy to take you out. let me know. thanks.
