i am fishing it. going up that saturday to pre-fish. staying at rolands.

in florida, you do not need those big expensive swimbaits. yes they work, and they will catch hogs, but skinny dippers and big ez's are the best swimbaits for florida. all of the others mentioned are good, but the dipper and ez's are inexpensive and highly effective. i have a couple of matt's lures and i have caught fish with them, but it sure does suck when you catch a 3 pounder and it destroys the bait that costs $25. jmo

fished the lake on sunday from sun up til 4. the lake is still low and it was brutal hot. put in at slims and worked pelican and some offshore depth changes. caught fish in both areas on giggy and drop shot. went to the west wall and didn't even move a fish. i believe they are called may flies, but they were everywhere and they covered us and the boat. went north to cochrans and caught a couple on spooks and senkos. i have a tourny on sunday, so i will give more detail next week. we need a lot of rain to get the lake back to normal. still love the place though.

is there a special paint? do i have to bake them? i just bought a mess ofthem off tw and they are unpainted. thanks in advance.

i have a set up with 65# braid. the reason i want another with flouro is the sound. here in florida, some of the stuff i flip is super heavy. when i flip braid on some types of vegetation, it makes a shrieking sound that i believe spooks some fish. the flouro will not make that sound. jt kenney has a great video on that exact issue, so i want to give it a go. i am going to bite the bullet and spend the cash on 25# invisx. seems like that is the flouro of choice when flipping.

i replace all of my spook hooks with #4 gamys and i also change the split ring with owners.

just west of lyons road. that whole stretch has fish, especially after they chopped those pine trees down by nbp. always catch good ones there.

took my son and two of my former students fishing today. we first went to lox, but with these young kids and all of the vegetation, i was constantly de-weeding baits and they were starting to become frustrated. i decided to pull out and head over to the hillsboro canal to cath some snakeheads and cichlids. we caught a couple of cichlids and this nice 4 pounder. could not believe my eyes, but there was a dead hog in the water. a big gator must have grabbed him and ate most of the body. in the pic, you can kinda see the hogs head. it was a cheezy pic because of my camera phone.
