  1. I am just looking for a pretty cheap Trout Ultralight setup...something I can pick up from Walmart or Big 5 since that is what I have up here at college. Most the trout we catch up here are very small stocked trout. I have an Ugly Stick Light Medium action pole sitting around that I don't know what to use for, but its too heavy for trout.
  2. Awesome guys can't wait to catch something on it! My palomar knot is a little sloppy and trying to get the hook to stick out is a bit tough, but I am getting better
  3. They got spines too?!? haha jeez man now I definitely want a fish grip
  4. I may pick up one of those fish grips
  5. I guess I should pick up a landing net, I don't have one and it would probably be useful with trying to get the hook out and stuff
  6. Well I don't plan to eat one just catch and release haha...maybe I will keep one sometime though
  7. Alright cool! I will give that a shot
  8. Wish I had better pics so you could have some sort of reference....he was easily 20" or more and he had some decent weight to him, but I need to pick up a scale. I guess I will just try grabbing em from the top behind their gills or underneath on their belly
  9. Alright...just seems hard to hold them behind the head like that while using the other hand to get the hook out
  10. I was fishing out at Lake Mary today in Flagstaff, Arizona and caught this guy on a white Storm Wildeye Shad: I am pretty sure it is a Walleye because the only other thing in Lake Mary is bass, crappie, catfish, pike, and sunfish. He was a decent size, maybe 2-3 pounds My second question is how to handle these toothy guys when the shore is really rocky? Should I get some sort of fishing mat or what? I tried to be really careful with this guy and make sure I wasn't rubbing him on the dirt or rocks.
  11. I am confused as to what the purpose of this spring is on my 1/16 oz 4/0 swimbait hook?
  12. I got some super flukes, I will pick up some of the lake fork swim baits sometime...just don't want to get overwhelmed with too much swimbait stuff...already have some berkely shads, storm wildeye shads, and the superflukes...i will see where that gets me...already caught a few bass on the wildeye shads
  13. I am always buying more stuff...I feel like I will never get around to using it all! haha I don't want to overwhelm myself though...i got jigs, worms, lizards, crankbaits, spinnerbaits, swimbaits, shads, drop shot stuff, split shot stuff, texas rig stuff....I don't even know what to begin to use when I go fishing!!
  14. Trust me I know but there is a limit to it with college
  15. Thanks guys....nice to have it...I have a ton of stuff for bass fishing now... probably a lot more than I need so I am gonna use the things I have before I go out and buy more stuff
  16. Yea I have used it several times and it works great...I am pretty sure he forgot about that technique and went straight to cutting
  17. Yes I know this technique...don't know if he tried it or not...I have showed him the technique but chances are he didn't try that.
  18. Thanks for all the help guys
  19. Yea I did that and it was still screwed haha...he went at it with the cutters...bad idea...then the razer blade saved the day
  20. Interesting....I am running 12lb mono on my baitcaster...I'm sure a lot of you already know but I am new to bass fishing and that was a starting point someone recommended for me
  21. Yea I already have some like 2 inch Storm Wildeye swimbaits as well as some of the 3-4 inch Storm Wildeye swimbaits...also have some Zoom Superflukes. I am new to bass fishing...so I don't want to get too carried away with lures...I have a TON of stuff already so I am trying to get good with what I have. I appreciate the suggestions...hopefully the swimbaits I have will do alright for now
  22. Ahh gotcha...I just see hear people using like 60lb braid and I just don't see why you would need something that heavy!
  23. So what is the purpose of doing braid to flouro vs mono to flouro....I am confused on the whole braided line thing
  24. I bet that alabama rig would be money. What size swimbait hook should I use? I have 3/0 1/16oz already, is that alright? They were feeding on small shad, nothing big Can I even fish an alabama rig with 12 lb mono? If not then I will have to pass on the alabama rig. Looks like you need a really heavy setup for that
  25. I was at Bartlett Lake here in Arizona yesterday and the bass were chasing schools of shad around like there was no tomorrow....right now I just have two sizes of the Storm Wildeye shads (with the hook that comes out the top). I caught one on a shad....another guy caught 6 on a smaller white shad...almost exactly like mine. Anyways...I picked up some Zoom Super Flukes and thought about maybe getting some Gamakatzu Swim Bait hooks and some other shads/swim baits. Just seeing what you guys recommend?
