  1. I've wanted to try Braid + Leader for a long time, but I've always been pretty overwhelmed by the idea of it (especially tying the knots which seems overly complicated). I've only got two setups: 1. 6'8" Medium Light - Fast Action rod, Shimano Solstace 2500 spinning reel; this is ONLY used for dropshot and maybe wacky rig on occasion. I have 8lb Seaguar InvizX on it. 2. 6'9" Medium Heavy rod, Daiwa AirD baitcaster. This is my "everything else" rod. I have 12 lb Seaguar InvizX on it. So...my questions: 1. Would it be appropriate to put braid + mono or flouro leader on either of these setups? 2. If so, is PowerPro the place to start? Yellow color? 3. What pound test? I was thinking 15 lb braid + 8 lb flouro on the dropshot rig and 40-50 lb braid + 15 lb mono or flouro leader on the "everything" rig. 4. How many feet of leader would I use? Thanks for the help!
  2. Hey guys, Just picked up a really nice "used" 2018 Tracker Pro 160. I'm not an avid fisher - just wanted something to get on the water with the wife for some bass fishing on the local AZ lakes. I've been going with a buddy of mine who built a Jet Jon (pretty cool by the way) and he has a Garmin 93SV. That seems to be a pretty highly recommended unit in terms of "best bang for buck". I've done a little bit of research, but it is a fairly overwhelming marketplace for these things - especially for someone like myself who has never really fished using one. I've put my budget at $1000, but anything cheaper would certainly be appreciated. I don't think it makes a ton of sense to spend a ton on a boat this size. Any feedback, recommendations, etc is appreciated. Thanks!
  3. Hey guys, It's been years since I've done any bass fishing - used to fish the Verde River in AZ a lot on my Pond Prowler. I've got a buddy who has a fishing boat now and goes to Lake Bartlett frequently. I've got a baitcaster and a spinning reel. The baitcaster is sort of my "all purpose" rig and I left my spinning reel for drop shot exclusively. If I remember correctly I was using 12 lb mono on the baitcaster and 8lb Seguar flourocarbon on the dropshot. The line is old and needs to be replaced. Based on some preliminary research I am thinking I may just completely switch over the flourocarbon for both (although I'm not sure I fish enough to justify the cost). Maybe 12 or 15lb flourocarbon on the baitcaster and stick with 8lb on the spinning reel for dropshot? Any feedback or suggestions is greatly appreciated. Thanks!
  4. Yep just switch the head around and you are good to go. Make a rudder for lakes...if you are fishing rivers like I do a lot I don't use the rudder at all.
  5. Awesome I will leave them alone then!
  6. Hey guys, just got my Northstar jigs today and they are fricken amazing! I was just curious as to if you guys cut the weed guard at all? The weed guard is long but not stiff at all so I am thinking of just leaving them alone.
  7. Just got my northstar jigs today....d**n they are fricken sweet! If I wasn't going hunting this weekend I would be fishing those!
  8. I should have bought some *** jigs but went with Northstar instead...they should be here in the next few days. Hopefully they work out well for me
  9. For now I bought a bunch of rage tail craws to match my jigs..I have some paca chunks too

I put my plastics in a normal tacklbox...works good.
  11. Funny thing is I have yet to catch a d**n fish on any of my crankbaits! I have actually never caught a fish on a crankbait in the few years I have been fishing. Although I don't fish them a whole lot. I have found the Texas Rig (Rage Craw) and jigs to be slaying the fish. I do most my fishing on the Verde River though so maybe that has something to do with it.
  12. I love skipping jigs and texas rigged lures...so much fun and its amazing how much more success you have when you can get your lure right in that perfect spot
  13. Will do....thanks!
  14. Alright guys just placed my order: Alimony Black Series 3/8 & 1/2 ounce Brown Craw Black Series 3/8 & 1/2 ounce Frogger Black Series 3/8 & 1/2 ounce Okeechobee Flip & Swim 3/8 ounce Salsa Flip & Swim 3/8 ounce Alabama Craw Flip & Swim 3/8 ounce Just need to order my Rage Tails now: Black & Blue Falcon Lake Craw Watermelon w/ Red Flake
  15. I think at this point I should just get 3 colors of the Black Series in 3/8 oz and 3 colors of the Flip & Swim in 3/8 oz. If I don't stick to my guns at some point I will end up on here for weeks determining what jigs and weights to get....
  16. I am just worried the 1/2 oz will fall too fast...honestly in most places I fish on the river it is very calm...I am not fishing in crazy current or anything.
  17. I may pick a few *** Jigs in 3/8 along with a few Northstar jigs...give them both a shot. Thanks for the heads up
  18. Yea I have heard about ***...maybe I should give them a shot...I have just heard a lot about Siebert and Northstar...but I will check out the *** jigs. I am wondering if maybe I should just go with the 3/8 oz...especially with the trailer it should be plenty heavy...I don't fish anything deeper than 15 ft usually and most the time its like no deeper than 6 feet.
  19. Ordering some Northstar Jigs tonight and want to get some good trailers. A lot of people are recommending Rage Tail Craws, but I feel like they would be too long and big? Do you guys use the Baby Craw or the Chunk? I currently use Netbait Paca Chunks, but a lot of people don't like those I guess. Just seeing what you guys recommend!
  20. I've been fishing a Texas Rig and Jigs a lot! Have had a lot of success....my crankbaits and spinnerbaits have been sitting around! Starting to really like the slower fishing of a jig and texas rig
  21. Alright guys well I am going down to Bass Pro this weekend and will pick up some Pline or some sort of hybrid. I have made sure to break in the weed guard well before using the jigs. I am placing my order for a bunch of Northstar Jigs tonight, can't wait to get them!
  22. Awesome. Problem solved! I will be placing an order this evening for 3 colors in the Black Series in 3/8 and 1/2 ounce and 3 colors in the Flip & Swim in 3/8 ounce. Thanks for all the help guys its been awesome!
  23. Well dang...I mean its not like if I buy the alien heads the fish are going to say "oh he didn't buy the football head I can't bite that one sorry"...worse comes to worse I place an order for the football heads if the alienheads don't catch fish....
  24. I mean...if the alien head is more versatile...then why wouldn't I choose it over the football head lol? Seems like alien head and flip & pitch might be the way to go
  25. Well to this day I haven't caught a thing on a crankbait so I mainly stick to jigs and a texas rig
