  1. I got it all rigged up today and made a rudder for it and got a new Minn Kota Endura Maxx 50lb trolling motor for it up front. Going to take it out tomorrow, I will post pics tomorrow
  2. I got an old Minn Kota trolling motor from my buddy and used the mount and then bought an oar and mounted it to it. It looks really clean, I will post a picture of it tomorrow.
  3. Hey where are you guys mounting your pole holders?? I have the trolling motor on the front of my Pond Prowler with the rudder on the rear. If I am trolling with a crankbait or something would it be best to have the pole holder facing backwards or does it matter?
  4. What do you guys do for little trollys for transporting in and out of a truck bed?
  5. Well I got a pond prowler, so whether it sucks or not I got one...
  6. I don't but I have been on a Pond Prowler as well as a kayak
  7. Hey guys, I have read through a good portion of the Bass Raider thread and there are about 50 different designs for rudders...I am just wondering if there is way I can make one out of materials that I can pick up from Home Depot? I don't really have any scrap metal or old trolling motors to work with. If someone knows of some materials I can pick up from Home Depot and make a decent rudder out of that would be greatly appreciated! Also...how long should the shaft be as well as the actual rudder? Offtopic...but any recommendation on a battery for 55lb Min Kotta? 1 or two batteries?
  8. I'm not to worried about registration...its pretty cheap. I wouldn't want to paddle around a pond prowler! Anyways, everyone has there differing opinions...I appreciate all the help! If I feel the need for a kayak I will pick one up this summer
  9. Hmm...yea...it is a tough decision but if I got a kayak I would be leaving my roommate out and I don't necessarily want to fish by myself. I could get two kayaks, but I would want to upgrade the seat, get a trolling motor, etc...not sure how pricey that would get. When I go to bass pro I will look at both and talk to some people...get some opinions and see how much it would be to rig a kayak up with a trolling motor
  10. Two kayaks would be an option, but but it would be pricey...Pond Prowler will do everything I want to use it for, and possibly a bit more comfortable to fish in and more room. Plus like I said I will be fishing with a buddy as well. Anyways, it seems like there are a lot more kayak lovers than Pond Prowler lovers haha, maybe the kayak is better, but like I said I think I will at least get the Pond prowler for now and pick up a kayak if I feel that I need one down the road...
  11. I can't imagine fishing in a tandem kayak with me and my buddy (buddy is 200 pounds) haha. Two kayaks or the pond prowler are definitely the way to go for me. I am going to pick up the pond prowler this weekend and a trolling motor. If I find I need a kayak for certain situations I will get one this upcoming summer.
  12. I am having a tough time deciding between a kayak and a pond prowler. I will mostly be fishing smaller lakes and the Verde River here in AZ. I have a friend who does both of these things with a Pond Prowler and does it effectively. I would be getting a trolling motor for the Pond Prowler. I WILL MOSTLY BE FISHING TWO PEOPLE! Fishing two people has really led me towards the Pond Prowler. I could get two kayaks but it would be pricey, and paddling across some of these lakes would be a lot of work. Of course I could get a trolling motor for the kayak, but at that point I figure the Pond Prowler would be the way to go. I also think the Pond Prowler would be a lot more comfortable to fish from. Just trying to see what your guys' opinions are I guess.
  13. Thanks guys, tough decision between the 9ft and 10ft...
  14. Awesome thanks for all the help guys. I am going to pick up (most likely) the 9ft Pond Prowler not this weekend but next weekend. I will pick up a trolling motor, battery, and anchor, as well as some oars
  15. Hmm...well I suppose I will ask around at Bass Pro and see what they recommend...is there a rudder you can buy for these things or do you have to make one?
  16. Thanks! I saw that Prowler trolling motor at BPS...was thinking about getting a 40 or 50lb thrust trolling motor...but we will see. I will definitely pick up an anchor as well. I am surprised they don't make rudders for these boats...guess I will have to check that thread out and see how people are making these rudders
  17. Hey guys hopefully going to be picking up a 9 foot Pond Prowler here pretty soon and I would like to get a few things for it and would like some feed back, especially regarding a trolling motor. 1. Trolling Motor - what do you guys recommend? Thrust? (nothing crazy expensive) 2. What battery(s)? How many do I need? 3. Oars for emergency
  18. Well thanks for all the replies guys, I think I am going to get the 9ft Pond Prowler...its really the best for my needs based on my research...
  19. Where do you buy these?? I live close to a Cabellas and a Bass Pro...I feel like the 8ft would be a little cramped for two people...they have the EX version which is 9.5ft. The only thing I have heard about the Bass Hunters is that they ride low in the water and water gets in the boat easy due to the low sides. Judging from the videos I have seen they are very low in the water, I think the Pond Prowler would do much better in what I am using it for A friend of mine has the 9ft pond prowler. He has had it for years and takes it down the Verde and drags it across rocks, etc...and it has been an awesome boat for him
  20. Kayak is not an option as I will be fishing with a buddy of mine...I'd like to have that extra seat. I am afraid the 8ft would be pretty cramped for two people. At this point it is between the 9 and 10 foot pond prowler...tough decision...leaning towards the 9ft since I will be putting it in the back of my F-150 and also taking it down the Verde River....the 9ft might be more maneuverable...
  21. I am looking to get a small boat like the Pond Prowler or Pelican Bass Raider...9 foot or 10 foot. I thought about a fishing kayak for a while, and they are cheaper, but I can only take myself which kind of killed the idea for me. I noticed the Pelican is quite a bit heavier than the Pond Prowler. I would be putting it in the back of my truck (F-150) and transporting it to some small lakes and rivers. Just seeing what you guys think, if you have any other recommendations, etc... The Pelican is so much cheaper than the Prowler...very tempting...but not sure if 10 foot is too big and heavy to move around in the bed of my truck?
  22. Yea I wish I could buy multiple rods and reels....I just have my dropshot rod w/ spinning reel and my MH rod and baitcaster...its all I got!
  23. Yea I will try chicken liver for catfish. As far as anchovies for pike, they are actually really good where I live, especially because the water is cold right now. My buddy caught 18 pike a few weekends ago with 12 of those being from anchovies. Now if it was summer, I would just be sticking to the fast stuff for when the water is warm. Anyways, I will try chicken liver if I am going for catfish specifically
  24. Alright gotcha, and I would of course rewrite it if I wrote an article about it haha
