  1. Well maybe I will keep giving it a shot...get more experience with jigs...I don't think my trailer was in the way at all...I had it set up all the way up to the jig head so it wasn't blocking the hook or anything. I am really tempted to buy some Northstar or Siebert Jigs! Using a Medium-Heavy St. Croix Rod and 12lb monofilament. I am a college student so I have my baitcaster and a drop shot rod with a spinning reel...I can't afford to have a rod/reel for every application.
  2. Alright so today I was using a Strike King jig...football head with a pork trailer. I trimmed the skirt up and weed guard and the bass were loving it! However, I had 3 or 4 hooked for a few seconds and then they would get off...I wasn't having this problem with a T-rigged Rage Tail Craw ( I was slaying them with the Rage Craws...14 bass today)...what am I doing wrong?
  3. 48 jigs?? HOLY EFF
  4. Do you guys modify your jigs at all? Also...what is the purpose of having eyes on a jig head? Your using a trailer like a craw anyways....?!
  5. I could go to Pleasant when I am in Phoenix....but getting around on my 10 foot Pond Prowler and my 55lb trolling motor on that lake would be slow haha
  6. Picked up some new cranks, pretty much most of what you guys recommended. Went out to this little reservoir and the water is pretty clear...it wasn't windy. I didn't catch anything but maybe it just wasn't a good time to throw cranks
  7. How long do you guys wait to change lures if something is not working?
  8. This seems perfect! Thanks!
  9. Thanks guys! I found this on another thread and this is kind of what I was looking for...: At the start I throw a variety of different colors and style of lures till something works. It's topwater, shallow cranks, senkos, deeper cranks, spinnerbaits, inline spinners and minnowbaits. Most of the time my system works. If I still didn't catch anything I go though my lures again by changing the presentations. I do get action on the second run thru my tackle box. If not I practice my presentations.
  10. I currently fish up in Northern Arizona in the Williams Lakes, Lake Mary, and the Verde River...occasionally Bartlett Lake when I am home from college and in Phoenix. I just got a Bass Pro Pond Prowler and have been fishing from a boat and have been trying my crank baits. I have NEVER caught anything on a crankbait (fishing from the shore with them was impossible here, but now I have a boat and can use them!) Currently, I have a Bomber Flat A, Rapala Floater, Rapala Shad Rap, and Rapala Husky Jerk. I am just wondering if I should stay with these or try to get some deeper diving crank baits...? Any suggestions I guess.
  11. I am just wondering what you guys do to eliminate tackle that isn't working on a given day. For instance...Fish fast lures, then slow lures, then plastics, then drop shot etc?? Or start with topwater, then crankbaits, then spinnerbaits, then senko, then plastics, etc...? I have A LOT of tackle (at least one of everything) for a bass fishermen that has only about a year of experience and sometimes it can be frustrating deciding what to use...so what are your typical rotations to eliminate what isn't working?? Give me your detailed rotations...(shallow crankbaits, then deep crankbaits, then spinnerbaits, topwater, senko, worms, and so on) or simple rotations (crankbaits, topwater, plastics, etc).
  12. Hell when I trout fished I just threw inline spinners and caught a lot of trout...
  13. Okay guys thanks for all the help...I got it right...just wanted to make sure!
  14. It is already mounted on the bow of the boat. It appears I have it right, I just thought it was odd that it seemed like I got a bit more speed when the propeller was facing first
  15. Makes sense....so all transom mounts are this way? And I can only mount a transom mount on my prowler anyways....hmmm maybe I just have to put it on the rear? Just doesn't make sense because they have a plug in for the trolling motor on the front of the boat
  16. Alright so I have this 50lb trolling motor for my Pond Prowler: http://www.basspro.com/Minn-Kota-Endura-Max-TransomMount-Trolling-Motors/product/12091105032624/ I mount it on the front. When I first went out I noticed that forward pushed the boat backwards and reverse pushed it forward. I switched the handle to the other side and went out today. Forward went forward and reverse went reverse, as it is supposed to. However, I noticed it seemed slower than when I had the trolling motor actually pushing the boat (maybe it was in my head). My question is...does the propeller face first in the water or is it supposed to go behind the little fin? It looks like I have it the right way.... Thanks, sorry for the noob question...new to trolling motors.
  17. Yea that would work...my pond prowler came with a plastic cooler...I will think about that.
  18. I got one of these: http://www.basspro.com/Scotty-Power-Lock-Rod-Holder/product/20903/ I am just wondering where I should mount it (front or back? I was thinking back for trolling) and HOW I should mount it?? I am leery on drilling holes into the boat...
  19. I love my Pond Prowler so far! (same thing as Bass Raider), but $650 does seem a bit much, unless it is in pretty much new condition. My buddy fishes on a kayak and he loves it, although I wouldn't care to have one as it gets pretty cramped fishing from them with all your gear as well as other numerous things I don't care for. To each his own I guess.
  20. Awesome thanks for the help! I will reconnect it at 10A and leave it on till I go fishing tomorrow!
  21. That is exactly the one I have! So I should leave the charger on it all the time (it shuts off automatically when charged)?? Is it a Standard or AGM? I called Oreilly and they said to just put it on Standard. If I keep it connected all the time what amp setting do I set it on?
  22. Hmm well I got the charger from bass pro in the boating section...I guess I will charge at 10amp from now on. It does have settings for Standard, AGM, and Gel batteries...I just used the Standard. If this is not a good charger for it then is there something I can pick up at walmart or oreilly that is better? I just bought this charger...and I am a few hours away from Bass Pro so I can't necessarily return this thing anytime soon. I guess I will recharge at 10A next time...I already charged it at 2A...
  23. I have a charger for my Super Start Class 27 Deep Cycle Marine battery and it has three options...2 amp, 5 amp, and 10 amp. I know to use the 2 amp trickle charge if I have about a day and a half to charge it. However, if I go out and drain the battery down to 50%-75% and want to fish the next day, should I use the 5 amp or 10 amp?
  24. Fished it for the first time yesterday, it was so awesome! Just being off the shore and my 50 lb Minn Kota got me going pretty good and didn't even use any battery in 2 and a half hours. Only bad thing was I forgot to reverse handle on it before I got out there so I had to go backwards haha...I switched the handle so I imagine with it pulling instead of pushing the boat now it will be even better. It was really stable and had plenty of room for me to stand and move around. I have a really busy week until Thursday but I will post some pics of it later this week.
