At the end of my article am I allowed to put a link to this thread so people can my "fishing manual"?

I may write something up this weekend, hopefully make it really good.

Hmmm...maybe I will do that sometime. Maybe a paragraph for each of the major lures like jigs, texas rig, spinnerbaits, crankbaits, dropshot, and flukes. The reason I put it into a Word document and kept it short and concise was that I find it much easier to follow when you are out fishing and you simply: 1. Look at what you need to rig it up 2. The different techniques for fishing it It keeps it very short and sweet. Articles are great, but no one wants to bring out 50 different articles and read a paragraph while they are fishing haha. Like I said though, I may just write up an article covering the basic lures and then keep this on here for people to use while they are out fishing. Hmm..interesting...I know one of my friends just uses a steel leader with a 4/0 hook and an anchovie while he is throwing out his baitcaster and has A LOT of success with pike and a few catfish

Haha I don't have an English teacher...I am in my third year of Mechanical Engineering at Northern Arizona University

Well if I have time and maybe once I add a few more things I may do it. I am really busy with school right now, but for now hopefully this will help out some beginners

Well I am a noob to bass fishing so not sure I could right an article, it was just a collaboration of stuff I pulled from here and BassResource's youtube videos

Alright...should I be using a steel leader? There are pike and catfish in there, but I feel like there is too much hardware when I have the steel leader on, maybe scaring the fish away. Some guy showed my a way of going through the tail and bringing the line through the body and then hooking back into the front of the fish and it seemed to work well but the steel leader snap is right there on the fish and I feel like it might be scaring them away

I picked up some circle hooks and was just wondering what the best way to rig the frozen anchovy is...I found it was kind of hard with them being frozen and tried going through the head a few times and pretty much ripped the head off. On the bright side, I caught my first catfish yesterday! He was probably about 8 pounds!

I suppose that would be a good one...although the only knots I use are improved clinch and palomar...I also find that I need a video in order to learn a knot if its somewhat complicated

I will be using a steel leader so I could just tie the steel leader directly on braid or mono

Alright so a spinning rod/reel will work fine with some braid and mono leader?? How long of a mono leader do you use? It is really just something to have out there while I am throwing lures with my baitcaster

Hey guys, I have been making myself sort of a "Beginner's Guide to Bass Fishing" on Microsoft Word over the past month or so since I got into bass fishing. All of the info on my guide is either from some article on Bass Resource or from Bass Resource's YouTube videos. It is basically a "fishing manual" I take out with me when I go fishing. Everything in my current tacklebox is talked about in my manual. I thought it was really nice to have something that had everything together instead of searching for articles when I got home. Anyways, some of you may think its stupid, but it has been a useful guide to me and if you have any suggestions or things to add to any section let me know! Just wondering what you guys would recommend as far as a rod and reel for baiting frozen anchovies or hot dogs for catfish/pike? Something cheap obviously...what pound line?

Bad thing is that there is a mercury warning in Lake Mary right now

Just using the 4 or 5" robo worms...it isn't a big deal though it seems to work perfectly fine in the water

Thanks! Yea that water is cold and I have heard from other people on the AZ fishing forums that a slow retrieve with any lure is a must. It can be hard fishing from the shore and using a slow retrieve though because I pull a lot of weeds depending on where I am at. I will be trying slower retrieves though

Alright so I have a Bomber Flat A in like crawdad colors, a Rapala Original Floater in white/chat, a Husky Jerk 8 in shad color, and a Shad Rap in shad color. I fish from the bank because I do not have a boat and just looking for some suggestions on how to fish these crankbaits. Unfortunately a lot of areas I fish are pretty weedy so most the time I don't even use them, but there are places I can fish them. I have watched some youtube videos and read several articles on here....here is what I have written down so far, let me know what you think: Tips: - For best fish appeal, use an erratic retrieve Experiment with these different retrieves: Kneel & Reel With a long rod, use a deep-runner and stick the rod tip in the water to attain extra depth. Stop & Go Reel rapidly, then stop. Floating crankbaits will slowly rise; suspending lures will stay at that depth. Then start reeling again. Repeat. Bottom Bumping This technique is effective in both deep and shallow water. Root the crankbait along the bottom so it kicks up silt and runs erratically. To achieve this action, the bait must dive deeper than the water depth. With practice, you can actually make determinations about bottom content from the feel of the lure. A tapping on the bottom indicates rocks or gravel, a very slight drag indicates sand, and a longer tug (or a snag) indicates muck and weeds. Ripping Crank the lure a few times to get it at the required depth and then pull back sharply with the rod, causing the lure to dart quickly through the water. Gather slack and repeat.

Yea I made sure to run the tag end through the eye...I will see how it goes tomorrow

Hey guys I am using Gamakatzu 1/0 Drop Shot hooks and whenever I tie it on it seems like the knot tends to slide around the eye of the hook and I have to readjust...is this normal?
