  1. I have one of those but always thought it was awkward to use...guess I need to try it out again
  2. I gotcha...makes sense thanks! I think I'll try 3/32 first and order different weight sizes if I feel the need
  3. I’ve heard great things about Falcon so I may just spring for the Cara Amistad…try something different from Dobyn’s. I wish they had full cork handles though.
  4. I use tungsten for Texas Rig and Drop Shot and it’s an absolute game changer for sensitivity. I’ll never go back to lead. Figured I might as well use tungsten for the Neko Rig too?
  5. I decided to go middle route and go with the #1 size
  6. I can’t seem to find much on what size Neko Rig weight is appropriate for different depths. I’d like to get some tungsten weights. What’s a good weight that would cover up to ~20 feet deep? Thanks
  7. Do you just cut the line and use pliers to pull the hook out by the line tie? I’m in AZ…haven’t seen any weeds here haha. But it might be nice to have the weedless version in case I ever do.
  8. Hey guys, Planning to get some of the VMC Neko hooks since they seems to be so highly recommended for wacky rigging. What size should I be using if I’m using an o-ring? Some people say #2…some say 2/0. Also is there any reason NOT to get the weedless version? Thanks!
  9. I'm looking for a rod specifically for jig fishing (3/8, 1/2, maybe some 3/4 oz). Not looking for a flippin'/pitchin' rod as I already have this covered. Here is kind of what I've come up with: Dobyn's Champion XP 744C - head nothing but awesome things about this rod. Great customer service. I have all Dobyn's Fury rods right now (I have one Shimano Curado rod as well). Falcon Cara Amistad - this is only in my list because I've heard really good things for this price point. That said, I'm really hesitant to order from them considering I called them twice, left a voicemail, and never got a call back. This tells me everything I need to know about their customer service, which is that there probably is none. So unless this rod is significantly better than the Dobyn's I'm not sure I'm inclined to go this route Megabass Levante Pitch Perfect - I've heard great things about the Orochi XX, but that is a $350 rod. I know these rods had issues with tips in the past, but it sounds like these issues got fixed during the revamp in 2019. These are supposed to be great rods. Just not sure how they compare to the Falcon or Dobyn's. What do you guys think?
  10. Thanks guys I just went ahead with 12 lb flouro
  11. Good thing is I have another rod for poppers/crankbaits
  12. I just got a new Shimano Curado 6'10" Medium rod for jerkbaits (recommended by Tactical Bassin for budget rods) and I am pairing it up with a Shimano SLX XT (7.2:1 ratio) reel. I've been searching old threads on which line to use for jerkbaits and I'm a bit torn. For now I will be fishing Megasbass Vision 110 Jr +1s. Flouro seems like the answer if you are ONLY going to use this setup for jerkbaits (again Tactical Bassin recommends 12lb flouro). That said, it is always nice when I can use a rod/reel for more than one lure/presentation. I'm wondering if I go with mono, maybe it would be more versatile? What do you guys think? Thanks!
  13. Hey guys, I've got a Dobyn's Fury 705CB with 10 lb mono that I use for all my cranking right now as well as my Rio Rico's (popper). However, I just bought a Shimano Curado 6'10" Medium Rod for jerkbaits (Vision 110, 110 JR, +1s). I plan to string up 10 lb mono on this rod as well. Would the Shimano Curado be the better rod for these small Rio Rico's and smaller top water baits in general? Thanks!
  14. FYI - just ordered the Shimano Curado 6'10" Medium - I've heard too many good things at this price point to pass it up. Thanks for the help.
  15. Hey guys, I've got a Shimano SLX XT 151 (6.3:1) rigged on my crankbait (Dobyn's Fury 705CB) and spinnerbait (Dobyn's Fury 733C) rods, but I'm wondering if I should have gone with the HG version which is 7.2:1? Is it worth ordering some HGs (can't find them anywhere right now) and swapping these out for the 7.2:1?
  16. The Expride is impossible to find unfortunately so that’s off the list. I’d like to purchase something ASAP. Even the Shimano Curado is out of stock everywhere, but at least they are supposed to be restocked by May 21
  17. Yea I guess I’d expect a $500 G Loomis to outperform the $250 rod. You can go nuts on here trying to figure out what rod to buy, but at some point you gotta just go with something. I may just go for the Curado at the $160 price point. I’ve heard good things about Falcon rods as well.
  18. Anyone have any experience with this rod for jerkbaits? Highly considering this rod for Vision 110s, 110 Jrs
  19. I’ve been hearing really good things about the Falcon Amistad as well.
  20. Looks like those both have a Fast taper instead of Extra Fast like the 7’1”. Does it matter? If it doesn’t would you go 7’3” or 7’6”?
  21. I have no problem spending $200-$250 on a jig rod if that’s what it takes
  22. Yea I hear good things about the Tatula rods. That’s definitely an option. Prefer something maybe a tad longer
  23. Yea right now I'm on the list for the Curado Medium 6'10". I think that is what I will go with. If it works as a good Fluke rod that would be awesome too.
