Def gonna check out the roboworms

So after a 2 week dormant period of fishing this summer i started fishing off the kayak almost every other day out at the local lake. First evening a I caught a 5lber and several 2-3lbers but ever since the bites and fish have been decreasing to where yesterday i only landed 3 puny shad size bass. I tried switching colors and different techniques but none of them have worked so im gonna try downsizing my tackle and see if i can get some more strikes. The arsenal: 2 UL 6' and 5'6" poles - with a 4" berkly power worm in red shad on a 1/8 shakyhead and a rapala UL minnow in trout color 1 Light 5'6" pole - with a 4.5" yum yumphibian in Big O craw color, T-rigged with a 1/8 weight 1 ML 6' pole - with a 2.75 strike king bitsy tube on a 3/16 weight in sandy candy color 1 M 6'9" pole - with a 3/8 acme Kastmaster in silver/blue Hoping to have some better luck than i have been lately. If you guys know any good lures, etc for light tackle fishing let me know!

Dusk! Tho I do believe dawn is more peaceful. But for me my favorite time to fish is an early fall evening when the weather is nice and crisp

Hey guys I really appreciate all the responses and tips!! Im definitely going to go out and my a sonar unit to equip to my kayak now. The fish pathways is definitely something i didnt even think of so I think that can help me out alot as well how to fish the underwater structure. And tom thanks for the replies, seems i need to keep it simple and dont do what many fishermen do in over thinking things and slow down and learn the lake.

Thats how i fished before i had my kayak and i still like to spend some days fishing like that on the banks. Best tactic for that is to find a nice cove where you can hit the shoreline in front of you

Weed mats and other vegitation mats but one place i really like is over a rocky bottom in shallow water. But timing is more important to topwater fishing than anything else. Generally the fish will let you know when to do it. If its early morning or late evening you can do it the whole time but otherwise i only do it if the fish are actually jumping. If not i throw out other lures and if that doesnt work ill throw out a topwater lure. But just remember in general terms to try it the most during sunrise and sunset and near cover or submerged cover. And dont be afraid to throw on the little topwater lures like grasshopers and other insect lures.

First rig up a tube or worm with a 1/4 or 3/8 tungsten weight or throw out a suspending jerkbait or squarbill crank. If those dont work rig up a carolina rigged craw bait, lizzard or a chatterbait. And lastly I would use a topwater lure like a spook or even a mouse

Since Ive been fishing i mainly stick close to the bank fishing weeds and grass ect but we all know there are some days where the fish juts arent in the shallows. How do you guys know when and where to look for deep water fish and what lure/techniques do you use. I bought a kayak last season and only kept it close to shore. Id like to expand my fishing to deeper waters when the fish arent in the shallows. The only place i can think to look as of right now is off a rocky point on my lake that goes down to about 15 feet. Any tips on where/when to look and what to use? Thanks guys

Deep water fishing, Drop shotting, deep cranks. Also Chatterbaits

Same! the only lure i used to have that was black was a norman crappie lure with a pink stripe on the back and one day i threw it in on an overcast day and slayed. Now i have pleny of black cranks. If its pretty hot and humid on a overcast day i LOVE to throw out a black jitterbug near grass and weeds

I always pack some waters and a gatorade or fruit juice for beverages. For food i always bring nutrigrain bars and a couple lunchables

Im a small lake/pond fisherman- usually 1000 acres or less. I like to hit cover and slop but also go into coves alot. I look for grass and weeds sticking out of the water mostly but i also look for rocky ledges towards the bank and just go up and down those in my kayak. Have had much better luck with those then wood so I usually target those. As for technique i usually like to pitch and flip and use jerbaits
