  1. I used my 50 on a champion 683 for flukes and light jigs/spinnerbaits and such. It can be used for pitching no doubt, but as has been said, most reels can. I'd say keep it for moving baits tight quarters. My dx 745 has a zillion 50th on it and it balances perfectly so I would assume the 50 to be abit light.
  2. Lews tournament no doubt. I prefer the longer handle as well
  3. Nothing beats high end cork...it feels like silk
  4. Here is my Chronarch D with the gold to match the spool...sweet setup with this handle...smooth as butter
  5. I'm a bank fisherman and prefer higher end stuff when possible. Since my access is so limited, I want the best stuff so I can feel everything and cast where I need to. Rather have one good rod that can do some of everything which to me is a better investment than 3 rods which aren't as sensitive, don't have the actions and tapers I want etc. Back on topic, Abu customer service has been spot in when I needed it. However, there's was the only rod I have owned which snapped bringing in a fish. My higher end stuff has never had an issue like that. Kind of a chicken or the egg argument. Is the customer service good because they know their stuff is going to fail? Or is it good just because it is good?
  6. http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/123919-hawgtech-customer-service-is-spot-on-and-the-new-swept-handles-look-great-pics/?fromsearch=1 I agree man...love em
  7. Pit boss no doubt
  8. Got it and love it..lightweight and smooth
  9. For the money suffix performance braid is a pretty awesome line. PP goes without saying as it is tried and true. A friend of mine uses sunline fx and daiwa samurai braid and I must day they are smooth as butter
  10. The super duty magnetic brakes are awesome. They are hard to backlash
  11. In the show classic patterns, Alton jones said he used golf gloves. I went out and bought a pair and agree with him. They are thin enough to fish with no issues and provide enough warmth as needed
  12. A 7ft MH rod is considered "the" all purpose rod for bass fishing. Furthermore, your gear ratio is the best all purpose ratio for fishing as well. Thick Thick pads will usually require a heavier rod but a MH can do the job. My advice, tie some 40lb braid on your reel and use it for all purpose work. Tie a mono or fluoro leader when necessary. A Medium power rod will be too wimpy for frog fishing unless you are in totally open water.
  13. Steez rod with zillion type r and tuned parts would be around a grand. Dx702c with a bnib pixy turned into pixzilla with carbon handle and knobs would be close in terms of parts added etc Have a zillion 100sha which I bought coastal zillion parts for, had it tuned and upgraded and custom painted. With a champion 734 it is close. Put it with a higher end rod and it would Def be over.
  14. Well I guess I should be flattered! Glad it worked out for you
  15. Great rod choices! You won't be diassapointed
  16. I got a dx mike long and love it for Carolina rigs, football jigs and anything deep. Sensitivity is amazing. Can be a lighter flipping/ pitching rod as well
  17. I have owned a few of their reels and the Smoke is def. the best one they have going. You can get them for quite a deal online. Only issue I had with the smoke was the sideplate was a pain in the A** to remove and put back. However, the brakes are external unlike the EXO so I only had to do that to lube it up etc.
  18. I use the 703 for weightless stuff like flukes and senkos. I would go a power higher for almost anything with some weight to it. If budget allows, the dx is more sensitive but that in no way downplays how good the champions are. Many guys use the 735c as a jig and Texas rig rod with no problems.
  19. Dobyns, powell and daiwa make 6'8 and 6'9 heavies
  20. Well there are Labor Day sales going on. For a frog rod, the 735 is money. It isn't as sensative as the champion series for bottom techniques but remember, with braid you are going to feel even more.
