Smallest Bass!
my smallest fish was a minnow I caught when my bait slipped off the hook while panfishing. no pics, but the little guy was feisty enough to strike an unbaited hook.

Favorite Soft Plastics, Ways To Rig Them And Fish Them.
it was a little Colorado blade off a beetle spin, so it spun, but for really muddy water I might use an indianna blade or big Colorado blade. I was aking a question but I guess I got caught up in the excitement. So, officially, what are all your guys' favorite soft plastic and how do you rig 'em n fish 'em

Favorite Soft Plastics, Ways To Rig Them And Fish Them.
I have never been much of a worm guy, just was never good for it. I have always harbored an affinity however, for soft plastic jerkbaits and crawfish imitating baits. Recently, while fishing in a shallow farm pond I came upon an area with a plethora of shallow, cut, close to shore trees. I considered running cranks through it but bass were holding to thick sideways branches half of which were sticking out of the water. The bass in said pond do not have a distinct favor towards spinnerbaits. I figured I should fish a soft plastic jerkbait, but the water was so muddy. Low and behold in my tackle box I stumbled upon the answer. I took a blade off a beetle spin, attatched it to the hook of a Texas rigged, gulp smelt, a caught a ton in no time. This is now hands down my favorite rig for shallow muddy, snag rich cover where only a jerkbait will do.

Which Topwater And When
I have almost no experience w/ buzzbaits, (though I do keep skitter props,) and decent experience with zara's. I may not be the most accurate caster but I do like to work poppers by hard edges i.e. topwater weeds, shallow submerged brush, and have a tendency to use zara spooks over shallow grass and coontail. I swim in a lake before I fish it, since I don't have a bass boat with gadgets, this lets me explore the geography of the pond and actually see where bass hang out. They are really bold around snorkelers. MY point being, I've learned that in thick shallow weedbeds I know there are travel routes, this is what I typically reserve a zara for

How To Deal With Complete Beginners?
The Walmarts around here have nifty $20 matzuo M action spinning combos, or some 2 ball bearing reel and 6'6" ugly stik would be great. After a few particularly conductive trips, provided you have taught him more about tackle so this won't be so overwhelming, plan a "trip" to your nearest cabelas. I've turned a cou[le friends onto fishing and it never fails to amuse me, the look when their eyes glaze over after that first step into cabelas or BP. No, the other BP. BTW 12 pound test low vis trilene and some Texas rigs will be good nuff for now. Most importantly, if he is having a bad day with bass, just to keep him from souring over with fishing, go after some bluegill, and teach him how to fillet them. After some fried blue's he might want not to catch bass on the next trip.

Which Topwater And When
Due to my ability to use common sense I quite enjoy topwater fishing, but I've always been confused as to which lures are better for what conditions. When is it better to toss out a skitterpop vs a zara spook (my favs) or a buzzbiat instead of a rebel pop r or skitterprop or other propeller bait. S.O.S. Thank in advance

Illinios, Wisconsin, Iowa, Where Are The Bass
This is for those in the illinois, wisconsin, and iowa area, I've had terrible luck lately. Where are you guys finding them. I don't want to know your favorite fishin hole, but are you catching them in the shallows yet or are they still in the depths near you. Are the near the rocks, muck, or last years weedbeds. This is a discussion about where you're finding them, what your catchin them on, and your first good fishing stories of the year.

Anybody Like Mark Zona?
Mark Zona is an alumni of my high school. I juast found out one of our security guards is an angler who has fished with him occasionally. HHHMMMM... I woder if I could get a chance to meet a celebrity. BTW I know this is not a very productive discussion, but according to my girlfriend spending hours by the water with a stick in my hand has never been productive.

If You Only Had One Bait!!
only one crank... either kvd square bill or rapala shallow rap shad. Only 1 soft plastic=GULP! smelt. only 1 popper.. oh what a horrendous reality. In the end a hula popper or skitterpop beats em all for spring, summer, and fall in favorite holes here in IL. I'm just glad I don't have to choose.

New Kid, 16 Self Taught, In Other Words Always Open For Advice
Hi, new around these parts. I'm 16 a have pretty much become a self taught angler due to the plethora of information on the internet and talking to ppl at cabelas for the last couple years. In other words, I'm always open for advice. Good topics would be tips for the upcoming season (in Illinois,) replacing trebles with siwash hooks, getting bigger bass, smallmouth (practically no experience,) and how to better utilize this digital age bass centered filing cabinet called bass resource.
