  1. That's my close second. He's been helpful a with a couple of questions and it seems he'd be great to fish with and learn from.
  2. Well I'm inexperienced and really didn't grasp the quality of the Carbonlite. I assumed (erroneously) that the brand name would be better, and it possibly is at the higher range offerings. To be honest, I think almost all of my rods will be the Carbonlte series, I just like the way it feels in my hand.
  3. I fished mine heavily today side by side with my BPS JM Carbonlite and I've got to admit I actually prefer my BPS Carbonlite. The rods are identical except the BPS has the micro guides and I don't know if that would make a difference or not. The Abu is still a great rod for the money and it will get plenty of use but I guess I though it would be better than it seems/
  4. Sure. I will have the map package posted in this thread by tomorrow. I'll add you as well.
  5. I haven't looked at it in detail but I believe it says on the package something about it showing structure. I will get a pic of it tomorrow and post it here.
  6. My local Wal Mart has detailed Lake Guntersville topo maps. If you want one I can get it and mail it to you.
  7. Believe me I tried and tried.
  8. So I wanted to start bass fishing again because all of my kids express a desire to start fishing. Well one of my daughters got her first bass this afternoon and did it all by herself, on a Texas Rig, with a spinning outfit. Other than me having to go out and unwrap it from some branches she did everything herself. I couldn't be more proud!
  9. I saw that episode where the rod snapped. I was amazed. I was actually going to ask a question about the Duckett rods as it seems most of those pros seems to use Duckett. I was curious if they're that much better or they just sponsor well. The show is interesting and I enjoy watching it. I don't know how tournaments work but I like this one.
  10. I hope tiger explodes into major fail. I've lost a great deal of respect for the master's after tiger was given his free pass for the rules violation. Anyone but tiger is good for me.
  11. I don't know but I thought I could get away with one or two and in a short time I think I'm close to 10 including a few rods for the kids.
  12. I think my next try will be a swim jig. I haven't had hardly any luck and I"m not sure if it's color selection, fishing from shore or what. BTW, I've seen a white jig in the store. What would this be good for?
  13. Welcome!!
  14. Has anyone tried using big Texas Rig weights with their C rigs? I've put one on and there is a significant difference in the feel of the bottom it seems. Also, I've notices that resistance and "snags" seem reduced.
  15. I need to learn to fish a Jerkbait well.
  16. I'm going to use it as a general use rod. Texas Rigs, Jigs, TW and Spinnerbaits. It's a 7' M. What do you think it would be good for?
  17. Well, I'm still happy as a clam and to be honest could not tell the difference. As you said it's a great rod for the price and I'm excited to have it. Feel real nice with that reel. Thanks for the good info.
  18. Sorry for the bad pics
  19. I'm pretty positive it's gen 2 as it said "next generation". I walked back to the fishing rods and looked at the others and the one I had seemed nicer. I'll post a pic.
  20. I got my rod today. I'm excited as it's a Gen 2 as it says "Next Generation" on the rod. It's a nice rod and I can't believe it was $29.00 It it was a MH it would be perfect but I'm not complaining.
  21. I know the flipping technique and flipping specific rods but I'm unfamiliar with flipping specific reels, specifically the Ardent. Is this just hype or is there a benefit? Also, I've noticed many reels advertise a "flipping switch". What does this do? I always thought with flipping a reel is just a line hder like fly fishing so I'm curious about these specialized items. Thanks
  22. Raise your hand if you wouldn't do it if you physically could? Can I interject something here from the other side of the fence? You have to remember that the NFLPA is the one that does the arbitration. And just like any union it may or may not represent the entire, or even a majority of it's members. Now I would bet every penny I've ever seen that if you took every pad off these guys and made them play the same game, they would. I would also guarantee that the vast majority, if not every player, would play for a "working man's salary". They love the game. The money is there, it's offered, who wouldn't take it? It's an honest living. Do they get crazy and greedy sometimes? Sure, but I can guarantee you most of them just want what we all want, security for them and their families. And if they have an opportunity to get it, good on them. There are a ton of mediating factors that come into play here that I don't believe everyone realizes. But I can assure you that of roughly 1500+ players over 90% of them are not prima donna's. At least that's my experience.
