  1. Lanier ,Your more them welcome to come catching with me if you want . I launch at balius creek
  2. Mitch did keep 4 of them to eat .He just filleted them a bit a go,All 4 he kept full of eggs .Maybe they haven't layed yet .I think they are just coming in .It was all with in 1.5 to 3ft of water .with submerged grass ,Its where there was no water for yrs ,cause the low water levels here on lanier .We just made it to within a foot to full pool ,It was 14 ft low at one point. So where we caught these fish wasnt possible last yrs ,cause no water in the area.till this yr with the rains we had . The grass under the water looks like balls of slime ,but full of bass.Lots of bait ,we matched the hatch to day with a pearl white fluke ,weedless set up ,running it across the tops of the grass. They would just hammer the fluke like it was thier last meal .Not quit sight fishing but almost . They would hammer it when the fluke came to an open spot in the grass ,then bamm .its on time. Any how we had a most excellent 4 hrs of fishing .Ready to go back tomorrow to hopefully get some big males .just a little further back in the creek pocket. Yup he used live bait .I used the flukes .I caught more with flukes
  3. We caught right at 32 fish this size today . Not big but he had a good time .Using live bait .
  4. Our lake here has hundreds of islands .A person could get lost really easy on lanier .Lots of rock, but not much grass,Its a clear water corp man made lake.Deepest is by the dam 200ft .up on the north end its about 10ft - or +.Its a excellent spot and striper lake .We have lots of blueback herring ,Making our fishery bigger then ever ,just in the past few yrs. I remember spotted bass didn't get above 1.5lbs .Now they get up to 5lb or so.some even fatter.Since the bluebacks been introduced to the lake. Our large mouth are good size also .But most folks fish for spotted bass. Its a superb spotted lake fishery. Had trout & walleye back in the day .Not to many now . I do love lanier .Always something different .Its at almost full pool now ,With trees floating around coming from the rise of the water from the banks. In all its a wonderfull lake to fish and experience.
  5. Wish i could run on $10 a day .My rig cost me $40 to $90 a day to run .But i run 0 to 60 miles on lanier every day. ,Run&Gun fishing .Lots of water to cover .38k acres of water .Lake Lanier ,500 miles of shore line.I usually start mid lake ramp. That way i can go up river or to the dam.
  6. I did notice where i hunt turkey at ,Thier is a pond full of bass. The bass loved them when they hit the water from the trees.
  7. WE had them here in ga during turkey season 2 yrs ago .They are noisy critters.
  8. When it in the water the hook turns 90 degree ,as long as the worm will float .Robos float for a while but get limp after while .The trick is to keep the worm 90 degree from your line .It performs so much better.Makes them bass hit it .It will aggravate bass to no end
  9. 1/8 once ,Just tie your hook with a palamor knot ,run the tag end threw the back side of the hook ,Thats what will make the hook 90 degree from your main line . This weight is for open water ,If im fishing lots of thick wood ,i use a cylinder weights.Less hang up in the wood . I like my worm to drop at a slow rate.To the bottom of what im fishing . Always have your fluro leader smaller then your main line .The smaller you can use the better you will do .It does take some getting use to ,once you hook up you will see what im talking about. Like J Francho said also .Lots of uses for any plastic.
  10. 1/0 drop shot hook .Fluro carbon leader with braid as main line,The leader is 3 ft long .Robo worm .Im a drop shot freak .I use them on our clear water lake lanier ,They do produce fish when other things wont work .Drop shotting takes a lot of patience ,My average retrieve is about 3 to 4 minutes to the boat once i set on the bottom.I catch more fish this way ,then any other way .Ive got drop shot down pat .Patience is the key to drop shot .The bite is a feel bite .Always keep a taught line on the retrieve,Might be the slightest tap .set the hook ,Once you catch a couple with drop shot you will get the feel .I like sliding mine over logs and structure at times too.In most cases it gets hit going down when you cast .or straight drop.Be Ready .TAP TAP <SET THE HOOK .My fluro carbon is 8lb test
  11. I happen to like megga bass rods .they are light and very well made.just my opinion.
  12. Try some drop shot method .in the trees and brush
  13. I myself drop shot with both spinner & bait caster .I prefer bait caster .To me it feels more natural in my hands.I started with spinner ,and do like it but im a baitcaster person no matter what .I grew up with bait caster reels .Not to many spinners . I use 20lb braid size of 6lb mono for drop shot rigs on bait casters. The fall of the braid on bait caster is kinda slow.In most cases i get hit on the fall .Just keep a taught line on the drop .
  14. BPS here in ga has been selling mega bass lures for a while now .Ive bought 1 of everything they have in stock.I do also change the hooks that they come with .The only thing is they can only order once a month from megga bass in japan.
  15. Nice sled ,It will serve you well.Catch lots of fish with it .
  16. We catch stripers daily here on lake lanier.I catch them on bass equipment once in a while .Most use Blue Back herring to target these fish .
  17. Rattle traps are good to use there ,West point seems to be a rattletrap lake for me anyhow .Get with keith at the picnic basket bait shop .he can tell you more .The bait shop is on your way to the highland .
  18. Temporary suv till i get a pick up to match my sled .2006 72k on clock then off to charity she goes in a couple months .
  19. I did that on purpose .lol Its an attention gitter lol Thats the redneck in me From the backwoods .
