  1. The best i have found is on a shakey head. Something about it the smallmouth love. The bigger one i fish on a football head and catch some big largemouth. When they are choking crawdads this is my go to bait. In spring i will even throw them weightless to fish that has just moved up in the shallows. Best advice i can give you other than what i just have is just keep throwing it.
  2. Braid with a Flouro leader is the key with a spinning set up.
  3. I knew a guy who used to smoke weed while in the tree stand and he killed more deer in camp then anybody. Dont know if that has anything to do with it or not but I dip Copenhagen Straight while deer hunting and have for years and seen no ill affects but I have seen deer pee make them snort blow and run like the wind.
  4. Veracity hands down. My personal opinion I do not like Duckett Rods. Had to many problems with them breaking and since I switched to Abu Rods I have broke a few but by my own stupidity.
  5. I have had the best and the worst line sponers any fisherman could have in the past before having an accident working in Law Enforcement and had to stop tournament fishing for a while. With that being said the toughest line i have had the fortunes of using is P-line flouro, very low strech and holds memory like crazy. I have went to Seaguar brands and like them very well. Sunline also makes a great product but is a little expensive. I will never go back to mono unless im fishing in the winter. Hope this helps.
  6. My two go to drop shot rods are both 6'9 Med Lite Veritas or Carbon Lite. Both are easy on the wallet and on the arm after fishing it all day.
  7. I do not think the bigger the better. I have all the sizes of these reels and never had this problem. A size 20 with 10 lbs braid and a Med'Lite rod is what i use for throwing drop shots for huge smallmouth and largemouth.
  8. When it comes to Pfluegers just pick one you like, they are all great.
  9. Abu garcia Veritas, basspro carbon lite, or Finwick Hmg all for $99 or less. I fish 30 or more tournaments a year and the Veritas are my favorite with my lews.
  10. I have had every baitcaster that shimano has made. With that being said I have sold everyone of them and replaced them with Lews. As for spinning reels a $39 Dollar Pfleuger Trion is better than most of the shimano reals. I gave my $499 stella reel to my son and replaced it with a supreme pfleuger with 10 bearings.
  11. Believe it or not I have had great success put these on a shakey head. When the fish hit them them just crush them.
  12. I have fished with 1 as my buddy has a dozen of them. I was very impressed with how they felt while fishing. They are supposed to have the same blank as the zillions did but for a lot cheaper price.
  13. I play with both craws and let the fish tell me what they want. I was fishing a Bfl last year and was flipping a sweetbeaver in roadkill and my boater was fishing a greenpumpkin pit boss. After i had my limit and he had not caught 1 he was asking what I was doing differant. But I have also seen it go the other way, once while fishing a pitboss on a c-rig I was hammering them. After running out of them switched to a beaver and only caught a couple. Who Knows they may like the way 1 glides better then the other or the action of another.
  14. Dont get the Bone Dry from bass pro. I had 3 sets of this crap and they leak worse than going with out it. I'm looking for a set that will also work. I have a pair of Bps Goretex bibs that are the great but they quit using goretex and went strickly to Bone Dry. Thanks for the article seen some good advice.
  15. My kids have been shooting guns since they were 3yrs old with me supervising. I believe if you teach the kids the right way to handle the guns they will grow into responsible shooters. My kids are living proof of this now that they are 17 and 15. God help somebody if they break into my house while im at work, they will put 2 in the chest and 1 in the head.
  16. After working in Law Enforcement for 10 yrs I don't want to get shot with either one. That being said carry the one you can shoot the best. If you can shoot tighter groups with a 9mm than a 45acp then its a no brainer.
  17. Go to fishing store and by a couple of War Eagle spinner baits and throw them in any brush you want. I will actually pitch my spinner baits in the tree's and brush and only get hung up every 50 pitches or so. Never got one hung up in deep water.
  18. I Love them, as a single swim bait or on a Alabama Rig. I have boated a many of both smallmouth and Largemouth.
  19. After 20+ years of fishing I have used about all the spinnerbaits on the market. That being said I always use War-Eagle the best in my opinion.
  20. You need to try the damiki pop-r. They are wonderful and will almost walk in place. All in All a great bait.
  21. When I go river fishing I use a 4 inch grubs and a #4 bait holder hook and real them on top for some impressive explosions. Or if its deeper I just use a lead head and hop it of bottom. You may even try small tubes. Hope this helps.
  22. All of my spinning rods have braid either 14 or 15 lbs. I also use fluro leaders for mine but will use mono if needed. I have used as low as 6lbs test as my leaders. The key is setting your drag lighter so the no stretch braid wont snap the leader. I have never had a problem not hooking fish with the lighter drag. So people say that this is to much of a problem to fish but the feel and response the braid gives me out ways any problems. JUST MAKE SURE YOU GET BRAID YOU CAN SEE ABOVE WATER, MAKES IT SO MUCH MORE ENJOYABLE.
  23. HOGS, DEER, MOOSE, THAN ELK.

The best deer rifle in the whole world is one that you fill confident in and you can hit the sweet spot every time. Guaranteed to put a deer on the ground.
  25. I have used about every type of braid on my spinning outfits. And that being said you cant go wrong with any of them but my suggestion would be get 1 that you can see because super lines even up to 65lb test is hard to see.
