My cousin cannot throw a lure more than twice without changing it! It didn't use to be that bad until he discovered speed clips, also he fishes everything the same exact way. A slow,constant retrieve.. Everything, spoon and all LOL. I cannot catch fish wearing a red shirt, for whatever reason, there's been MANY a times I've wondered where the bite went... Only to look down and see I've got a red shirt on, so I peel that thing off and start catching fish I get some looks though, something about shirtless guy in bib overalls lmao

I don't cast sinkers but I've been reloading and casting ammo for years. If you've got a lead thermometer keep your pot at 650degrees and zinc won't be a problem. However, I sort my wheel weights prior to casting. You can eliminate the bulk of non lead weights by looking at how the clip is on them. Most iron, and zinc look like the clip is riveted on instead of cast in. Just be safe I take a pair of cutters and squeeze every wheel weight, you will not be able to cut into iron or zinc. Lead will cut, synthetic will cut in half. Some wheel weights are marked "fe" for iron, and "zn" for zinc, but the only confident way to make sure you don't contaminate your pot is to cut them in the sorting process. For me it's the same load out whether in the boat, bank, or truck. Assortment or EWG hooks, and worm hooks. Shakey heads, tube hooks, bullet weights and mojo weights. Carolina keepers, spring lock keepers, nail clippers, needle nose, file and dyes

So a little backstory, with spring coming I'm getting the ole bass bug (I reload during the winter, so fishing takes a backseat). I've got a bass tracker, with some outdateddd fishfinders, small screen, black and white. The lake I usually fish is incredibly deep for Ky. It's in cave country, so from the bank it'll go down to 5ft deep (about 4ft away from the bank) then drop to 70ft. I use to be able to have decent luck beating the bank and I had a few honey holes, but due to the crazy weather or pressure, I've been getting skunked. So I'm decided to bite the bullet this year and buy a nice unit for my console, so I can find some baitfish or locate schools (I primarily use my fishfinders just for depth, temp and bottom structure). My question is, what would be the best unit with a price tag under $750, and not a dollar more? I'm drawn to the ray marine dragonfly, but figured maybe y'all would have a different suggestion? Sorry for rambling, any help would be greatly appreciated!

Looking for some good friends to fish with here in western Ky. I live in muhlenberg county, and mainly fish stripper pits during the week in a 14ft Jon boat, however I have a cabin on Nolin lake with a 19ft bass tracker. I haven't posted in awhile and that's because I've spent every ounce of my free time fishing Let me start by saying I've been bass fishing for 4 years, and 90% of that time I've thrown a lipless crank. With the exception of last year, I've always thought I'd done pretty well catching fish. This winter I discovered two things, this site and Glenn's YouTube channel. I soaked it all up, like a sponge. I researched lures, changed to a bait caster, and practiced techniques. I've yet to bust out a lipless this year.. but in the past 6 weeks I've caught more fish than I had caught in 3 years, and I topped my pb by 2 and 1/2 lbs, not once, not twice, but three times!! And on public land (reclaimed stripper pits) which gets hammered! The same land skunked me completely last year. So guys, thank you. Seriously thank you. And Glenn, if you read this, I owe you a steak dinner and a beer if you ever get to western ky. Keep doing what you do and I'll keep watching, reading, and soaking it up like sponge. Y'all have made me a better angler, thanks guys

Do y'all use black lights or fluorescent line at night? I'm really interested in starting night fishing but I don't know if I need any extra gear on my tracker or just a spotlight.

That's exactly my thought! My first two years I bought the cheapest of the cheap (but not Walmart no name lol). Now I'm realizing that those expensive baits can be worth the money if they're effective, I'd gladly pay an extra $10-$20 if it meant the difference of catching a few more fish! That's why I bought the the GYCB, even though there was some YUMS right next to them for $2 cheaper. After reading on here and soaking in this massive well of bass angling knowledge, the GYCB were a no brainer

I'll gladly spend the dough if ole bucket mouth likes them isn't that what half the fun of fishing is? Going down the bait isles like a little kid in a toy store, then feeling guilty when you walk out with a bag of stuff that cost you your full allowance ;D haha

For toads, which is my confidence top water bait, I use the zoom frog hooks (screw lock) in either 5/0 or 3/0. Just have to make sure the nose is centered or it'll swim funny Hope this helps!

I've been bass fishing here in western ky for 4 years. Around here all my friends call senkos and stick worms "do-nothins" lmao. So I've avoided them, religiously. However after joining this awesome site and digging into it extensively, the bait monkey got me and I bought my first bag I picked of a bag of GY senkos in watermelon magic, and a bag of fat ika's in black with blue flake. I can't wait to try them out this weekend and see if they live up to the hype I'll post an update first thing when I get back from the lake house. Tight lines fellas!

I noticed a BIG difference with micro guides when I was only using spinning gear for bass fishing, but I can't tell a difference now that I've gone to the baitcaster. Maybe it's just me )

I just recently picked up a spool of big game (12# clear). I previously only used trilene in clear/fluorescent blue in confidence but I also only used spinning rods. After making the change to baitcasters I'm hoping this big game works well. Just because its so affordable!

I broke a wild myself over the weekend. 7' mh spinning rod, throwing a 1/2oz red eye. Casted fine, reeled in the last 2 guides. Can't seem to get a replacement myself, forced me to go back to baitcaster Totally p***** me off, I loved that rod!

My first time catching a bass it was a 6lber out of Nolin River. I was at the ripe age of 5 at the time (27 now). I grew up trout fishing, using nothing more than a small treble, splitshot, and garlic cheese that's what I was using that day, and I thought I hung a log. Had to have my granddad help me get it in, on an old zebco stingray spinning rod and reel. It's one of my best memories ) I got out of trout fishing about 15yeads ago and didn't pick up a rod again until 4 years ago. This time I wasn't after trout though, I wanted the bucket mouths None of my friends bass fished, and my family were all diehard trout and panfish anglers. After wasting oodles of $20 bills on tackle that didn't work, I bought a rat-l-trap and started catching em. It's been downhill ever since, and now I've gotten confident at chasing ole bucket mouth I still use spinning rods though, some habits are just hard to break
