I'm planning on getting at least one high end reel of most ( hopefully alll brands ) eventually.. sadly the highest i'll pay is about 250 $ per reel... and getting one of all will take me a few years at least.. but after that I feel I could actually have a preferred brand... right now though out of the few I own/owned..... my lews tournament has been the smoothest reel hands down, but the only other reel in its price range I own are the revo sx and revo s.. everything else has been sub 100$.

I carry a large/extra large duffle type soft tackle box and I keep just about everything in it multi tool, extra long needle nose pliars for those deep hooks and a line cutter built for braid... and I never leave home without a knife in my pocket... than again i also carry my small set of phillips/flathead screwdrivers ( the kind made for eyeglass repair kinda ) never know what you may need and when.. better to be prepared I say.

Wow shimano is kiling it..... maybe one day ill have to save up for a decent/good shimano and see why its so liked.

What's your most trusted brand of baitcasters? If its not listed feel free to comment and I may add it to the poll if I'm allowed.

I don't fish nearly as much as I'd like to, I'm sure by now everyone knows how thrilled I am with my new lews reel. I'm currently waiting on DVT to get back with me on a custom rod I want built but until then. Looking for rods under the 75 $ mark really.. what would be my best bet? Rod needs to be versitile basically throw almost anything and everything. Thanks for any input.

Lew's Tournament SS TS1-H, that's right at your 150 $ or less price point. Great great reel though. Just my opinion.

Lol, that's why I asked if it was worth it, I don't want the bearings changed. I was just wondering about polishing points of friction really. Then again I also wonder about having a custom paint job done to it or hydro dipping or airbrushing it too.. like my guns with cerakoating and durakotes,when I find reels I really love, I'd like them customized compeletely if possible. They are my adult toys ha ha.

Can the Lew's Tournament SS TS1-H be super tuned or would it be worth having it done to the reel?

For line to line knots the blood knot or improved blood knot, line to hook lure ect... improved reverse clinch, I love the Eugene Bend as well.

Some one explain the advantages or disadvantages of the Micro Guides vs Regular Guides on Casting rods. Such as, do they work well with spinner baits, jigs, t-rigs, drop shots, senkos, ect ect. I'm leaning toward trying one but not sure if I should. Thanks & Keep Them Lines Tight!

I have a dilemma sort of.. Currently I have 2 baitcasters ( probably soon to be 1 ) and the 2 rods to go with them also soon to be 1. I had bought M Berkley Lightning rod and loved it. So when I got my two latest reels I decided to pair both with the same rods except one was a 7' MH. Well on a cast my cousin had his rod propped on the side od the boat and I didn't see it, the MH rod hit his rod and broke ( this was a light side arm cast I made ) so I don't think a MH rod should have broke like that. Was it bad luck? Possibly a defective rod or do all the Berkley Lightning rods have a tendancy to be easily broken? So to the question, should I return both Berkley Lightning rods? Also the 2 reels I got were the Quantum Code & My Lew's Tournament SS TS1-H ( my lews is without a doubt being kept ) and return the quantum code as well and get a good rod for my lews? Preferably something versatile that can be used for most anything from shakey heads to being still stout enough for my spinners and buzzzers. Then get a ML spinning set up for my finesse stuff and rooster tails ect? Also if it matters mostly I fish from the shore might go on a boat once in a while. Give me your thoughts and suggestions on this also whatever is gotten will have be from academy once again as they will give me store credit. It can be used at their site as well. We are in the same boat... except I'm looking for 1 rod that's a decent all around rod for my Lew's® Tournament SS TS1-H.. I don't get on a boat much yet as I'm working on buying one or saving for one rather.... so rather than make a sepwrate thread I may just steal ideas from yours or suggestions some may make, I'm probably leanong toward a MH set up so I can do a little of most things.

If the pro could some how be better... I'd go with it specially if you can get a deal, if not though the tournament ss ts1-h is hard to beat... I think there's another model for a faster gear ratio and possibly left hand models not sure... but I'm thinking of making this My all around reel and getting a nice flacon or st croix rod for it... which wi ll be another topic ill post later.

I admit I am fairly new to baitcasters and haven't had my hands on too many different brands and models Here is a list of ones I've used. Pflueger Criterion Garcia - Black Max2, Silver Max, Pro Max, Revo S, Revo SX, Orra S Quantum Code Pinnacle Obsession And of course my Lew's® Tournament SS TS1-H With no cleaning of any kind straight out of the box and line put on the spool, this reel amazed me, of course adjusted when the lure was put on and adjusted the drag but other than that nothing special done. This reel has an amazingly smooth cast and retrieve, casting distance is also amazing ( I guess as could be expected since it is smooth casting ) This wasn't on a top of the line rod just a Berkley 6'6 Med lightning rod and just had some trilene XL smooth cast 12# line on it. BOTTOM LINE: I'd highly recommend this reel, for the price range it is in I am not sure there is a reel that can beat this straight out of the box, I can't wait to see what it can do when I send it to DVT for some work done. Anyone who has been debating on buying one of these reels, do not hesitate. I'd be hard pressed to think anyone wouldn't be impressed with this reel, maybe some people might not be impressed with it ( I don't see how though especially in the 150 $ or less price range depending on sales amd what not ). Well the day started out about 7:45 we pulled away from the dock, by 8:30 the first bass was hooked and sadly the largest of the day at about 4lbs... followed directly ( as in within 2 mins by the 2nd which was maybe a 1.5lb and barely legal limit to keep of 12 and 1/4 inches. The third was about 15 mins later and was probably 2.5-3lbs tops. After that roughly 9ish... not a single thing the next 2.5 hours.. we seem roughly 15-20 gars in the area we were at which was a good sized area but that's a lpt of gar around regardless which may have accounted for no more bass to be caught. Here is a 2 pics of the bass in the live. Well... oh I'll also show the picture of the only thing my cousin caught all day was the catch of the day hahaa. Also all 3 were caught using a white with a few yellow strands on the skirt/ trailer they were KVD Strike king spinner. Ill have to edit the photos real quick before I can upload due to size limits.. will upload shortly though

The guy admits these or maybe all loomis rods have a bad tendency to break? Any thoughts or opinions on that based on personal experiance or just hear say?

I took this baitcast rod out once and made a couple of cast only. Rod is new condition, but missing the original price tag. Retails for $275. Which reel rod combo would be best? The 7 and MH or 6.4:1 MH or vis versa?

The weather says this.. from one source anpther says less chance of rain and less wind...Partly cloudy with a chance of a thunderstorm and a chance of rain. High of 84F. Winds from the SW at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 30%. So what's my best bet for catching tomorrow?ight be banking it or might be on a boat for a bit.... not sure yet... any tips and help would be appreciated... ill be fishing lake hartwell sc side.
