  1. Thanks for the tips ill be leaving shortly to go mske my swap out (s).
  2. so that would make the 130 $ revo s better than the revo sx-hs for breaks at le was st right?
  3. Ps. I will be leaving in a few hours to go get my new set up lol.
  4. Okay at the risk of sounding stupid or more so than I already have, I know price isn't everything but would I be better off getting the garcia revo sx-hs and still using the veritas mh 7' rod? Or is there a better choice when spending that much money 159.99 for the revo sx-hs. The only reason I lean towards garcia is because everyone I know ( friends and family ) swear by them.. I am new so I have a lot to learn and don't want to make the wrong choice. I know a lot of you have spent years using them and prefer one brand or another.... I've yet to reach that point I just want something good for that price range. That will last me a good long while. Thanks for putting up with the new annoying guy!
  5. Doesn't the revo s have centrifugal breaks though? I'm new to bait casters seems like a reel with magnetic breaks where I can just turn a knob would be easier for me to learn... or can someone point me in the right direction to learn the proper way to use centrifugal breaks?
  6. Yeah I'm not sure which direction to go, maybe just one decent bait caster set up and a decent spinner set up willbe the best option, since I'm New with bait casting especially not sure jumping into the 125 $ reels would be the best idea just yet... but I was told I need a fast bait caster for burning spinners and such and a slower one as well... but that would probably leave me without anything for light lures like my rooster tails.
  7. So I have figured my total credit at Academy to be between 198.99+tax or 256.99+tax refunded or store credit. The options I like so far are combos with a twist. Abu Garcia - Pro Max combo with a 6'6 M rod Abu Garcia - Blue Max combo with a 6'6 MH rod. I though about these combos and putting the Pro Max Reel on the Blue Max MH rod, And the Blue Max reel on the M Pro Max Rod. Any better suggestions? Since starting out I figure these would be some good choices, without breaking the bank and should still allow me to get a light spinning set up for lighter lures and baits. I was orginally wanting the silver max but academy doesn't have a combo for it that I seen. So is this a good option or choice to make or could I do better just picking up the reels and rods seperate and buying or pairing another set up for spinning in that price range? I'd like a strong backbone rod for my prp max 7.1:1 with fast or extra fast action. Thanks.
  8. I'll stick with the popular response, you could get her a decent shimano sonora 2500 fb ( its a pretty orange pearl-ish color ) for about 50 $ maybe less and whatever rod tickles her pickle. Could get out spending around 80 $ ( less or more depending on sales and the rod she likes ).
  9. A good set of mechanix gloves is what I use.
  10. I'm so excited and overwhelmed all at the same time! My only draw back I believe is that this has to be spent at academy and I think a lot of people neglected the fact. Thank you all for your input though it is much appreciated, and always room for more suggestions before I go do my trade wed sometime. I'm torn between so many reels that I think I'd like being newer though I'd like user friendly which to me means magnetic break system vs centrifugal as I'm not sure how they really work or maybe they'd be the better choice! Sooooo many choices for reels... rods too I guess lol. Thanks again and more suggestions are welcome!
  11. So should I stay away from the garcia reels like , silver max, black max, pro max or the orra as or sx-hs? I been lookin at those because of the price range and have been told I'd be better off having at least 2 set ups.

My first outing this past friday I caught 3 large mouth 2 were probabaly between 1.5 and 2.5 and my prife for the day was between 4-5.5lbs I think more around the 5lb mark. Personal info: I am married and we have 2 kids boys ages 1 and 2. I love my little family and spend a lot of time with them. I am 29 yrs young. Thanks for having such an awesome place for people interested in bass fishing its especially great for a beginner like me
  13. Wouldn't that leave me stuck without having something for lighter lures though? Or would that be able to cast my rosster tails ect as well?

  15. First and foremost, Hi my name is Preston. I am new to bass fishing. I would like some advice on a good rod and reel ( hopefully 2 set ups ) I will have roughly 250$ to spend ( at academy sports due to taking stuff back ) what I want is a good baitcaster and rod with some good back bone i suppose because it may be used for every lure, bait anything I gpt really. I was told I need a light set up as well maybe spinning rod for rooster tails senkos, soft baits ect. Just curious if anyone could tell me some good items to buy for my price range. Maybe even some tips on lures and such. I'll be fishing in good ole Lake Heartwell in S.C from the shores mostly. Thanks, Preston.
