  1. The Wally Worlds here don't stock crap. And what they do isn't worth getting. You might get lucky and find something that got shipped to the store I think by accident but they don't carry Tungsten Weights, never found a Pepper Spinnerbait, but I can get 4 year old powerbait for trout in rainbow.....yep my Walmarts suck......ALL 5 that are within a 20 min drive.
  2. Keep an eye on their on hand stock. You could also call them and ask if that reel is going to be on their sale list as some items aren't marked down. Then if not well you have nothing to loose if you get it now. If it is you can try calling right before Thanksgiving and asking if they can take an order for you as you "won't" be in town and would like to purchase one when they go on sale. They may do, they may not. What do you have to loose asking.
  3. Maybe they are all still in shock. Or bet the computer they had she'd win? I'd wished I had seen that one live instead of the fight before. It would have at least been entertaining to see her mean face go to shocked and I don't understand happened face. From the highlights, she got beat bad.
  4. I have the H20 Ethos 6'8"M ($60) I've used for many years dropshotting. Had a 7'3"Ethos, didn't like the handle length and sold it. I've never had an issue with it, good action, sensitive, and well built. Still fish 2 of their casting rods from the same line up as well (7ft MH and the 6'10"MH Micro).
  5. As Woody put it, they are great reels. Made in China, all aluminum where it matters. Maintence would be a drop of oil on each bearing once a month or depending on how much you fish maybe less. Braking, well I can't answer that one. I don't use any of the breaking options on any of my reels, they are all turned off. They cast great, have a nice drag system, compact and comfortable to fish, and light. I have yet to have to send one to Quantum (or any of the PT reels they make) for any kind of defect or service. They are a solid well put together reel. Needless to say, I started swapping the reels I wanted to upgrade with these when I found them at a steal of a price about 4 months ago when I could get them at well almost at that $99 price point as many people have a negative view on Quantum. This is probably due to a lot of their "cheap" reels they put out in the $35-50 area that are made of plasic and well are $35 reels. If you are looking to move to Quantum I wouldn't buy any of their reels under the Accurist PT which is at the $100 mark. So, my advice, if you can get an EXO for that or just above I would buy a few or what you can afford. If you want, check out the review Tackle Tour did on them as well if you look them up on TW and click the review icon.
  6. If they are pulling water, slide out a bit deeper or I'd look for a deeper bluff style bank with deep water close by. Falling water may pull the bass off the bank.
  7. What do you want to know, I have well lets say A LOT. I have all three sizes, and all three gear raitos in the 100 size. Actually have 2 of the 6.4's, 2 of the 7.1's, and a 5.3. All are smooth, nice casting (although some people do have issues trying to dial them in), they are comfortable to fish, and so far have held up quite well. Have any questions just ask and I'll try and answer it the best I can.
  8. I have and have quite a few of them. They are nice baits and at that price a great find/steal. Look up the baits on TW. Several reviews there for you to read.
  9. Both. They both have their challenges. I have found river fish seem to be a bit tougher once hooked compaired to their lake counterparts.
  10. His posts will be missed. Prayers to his family.
  11. And I agree, there has to be more forage base in that pond. Being city owned, it's not like I can go out and put a feeder in the pond. The bluegill do get fed though through the people whom feed the ducks bread (although posted DON'T FEED THE BIRDS). My point was it went from a stunted population of a bunch of small bass to a catch rate of larger healthy fish, a bluegill population that is rebounding (the smaller bluegill aren't all being eaten by small bass) and a more balanced system. By telling people who want to improve the fishing that forage base is more important then just throwing bass in there if there isn't something for them to eat. Although not legal,(but then neither is feeding the ducks as it's posted all around the pond) but looking to see where we can transplant some tilapia into this system to help with the forage since they mainly eat algae and reproduce quickly is our next step. Yes it's something that will have to be done each year as the cooler water temps will kill the fish, but a dozen large adult fish will spawn plenty of offspring to give the bass forage other then bluegill and the small die off of a dozen adults (which will feed the overwelming turtle population) will not destroy water quality (most of the others will be small enough to be eaten by the bass of different sizes). Just have to get enought local fisherman to help restore a fishery that was thriving long ago before everything had to look pretty and needed a sidewalk so you can walk around it and no weeds in the water.
  12. I have the following in my crankbait lineup. 2 7' M Moderate (1/4 to 3/8oz) shallow water/ smaller cranks 1 7'6" M Moderate (3/8 to 1/2) larger shallow water / medium depth cranks 2 7'4" MH Moderate (3/8 to 1oz) Larger shallow/squarebill/lipless, Medium larger cranks 1 7'6" MH Moderate (1/2 to 2 oz) Larger squarebill/ Deep cranks 1 7'10" MH Moderate for Deep cranks So needless to say, I have a whole line up for cranking for whatever I need.
  13. I have a pond close to where I live. Bad part, people started harvesting the larger fish which then led to 3 years of small 8-10" bass. Well from my understanding someone placed approx 20 to 30 4+lb fish in there. Needless to say, last year we had good grass growth, and now you catch a few quality fish. Hard to find a 8" bass like before. And the few large fish we catch are healthy. Guess they have eaten most of the stunted bass and now the bluegill population has also rebounded back. Now we have a local "pond watch" to keep people from poaching the larger fish using live bluegill since a few runs with the Game Wardens for no fishing license and well illeagal fishing activities has brought our little pond back to a nice place to teach the younger generation about fishing. Nothing agaist someone fishing legally and harvesting a few of the smaller fish, but the larger fish unless they are sick should be returned to keep the pond in balance.
  14. I have 3 of them from around 2012. I've had no issues out of them. Right now they are just sitting in my spare reel box. But up until last year they got used often without any problems. I'd fish them again if I needed a back up reel for my others.
  15. I picked up a EXO 25 on E bay for $104. So if you look you may be able to find a 30 size either EXO or Smoke on E bay and get it right around that $100 mark, maybe $115. But still not bad for a $150-200 reel. Also look into the Quantum Tour KVD 25 or 30 size reel as well. Top out under 7.5oz and still should be able to get one for about the $100 mark or under depending on the bidding.
  16. I fish almost all braid on everything but use leaders/topshot of either mono or FC depending on what I'm doing.
  17. If you have access to a boat you can drop it behind the boat and let it out then reel it back in and that will help remove some of the memory in it. And don't put anything on the line, just let the line pull out into the water.
  18. I hear that these things (computers and smart phones) we are communicating on will cause cancer. But then EVERYTHING causes cancer so what are you gonna do. Those people printing those warning labels probably have a sign up stating that the ink they use will cause cancer too.
  19. Yes and no. Sometimes you do, sometimes you don't. Clear water finesse fishing....yes. Cranks....yes and no. Frogs, flipping, pitching heavy cover and grass.....no. Just have to see what the conditions and technique and adjust on the fly sometimes. I will tell you its a whole lot cheaper fishing flourocarbon in 6ft pieces then 100yrd respools.
  20. I vote ALL OF THE ABOVE LISTED. Each has their own place and uses. I fish all of them. Just depends on the application.
  21. ^^^^^X2, never removed them, but have beefed them up when needed.
  22. This was many many years ago, but there used to be a Wednesday night bass tournaments out at Thunderbird Lake. Of course that was a long time ago and they started in Spring, fished each week and then went to another lake for the championship. It was a lot of fun the few years I fished it...back in my teens. Met some really good people and got the chance to fish with a lot of them.
  23. I fish a lot of Falcons. The Bucoo line up is great. Think they are right at the $100 mark and the 7'MH is a pretty good all around rod. Has a ModFast action which lends it to almost any kind of fishing you want to do.
  24. My best success has been with the standard 1/2oz rattle-trap. Both in the knocker and the original. As far as retrieve, I throw them on a 7:1 Quantum TourMG which picks up about 29 IPT. Steady to somewhat quick retrieve. Fish pretty much every area you asked with both as well as scattered reeds/tullies as well. I've had better success myself though with the knocker this past year then the original. And if I need a shallower retrieve, I do what Catt does, just hold my rod a bit higher.
  25. One all around reel, I'd have to agree with the 6.3:1 as well.
