  1. I've seen video's of using planes in the High Sierra's here in CA. Seen them use the truck and dump them in, also seen them dipnet the trout (to me a lot worse then dropping them out of a plane since the ones at the bottom are crushed by the weight of their buddies. Might have a higher survival rate though in some of the places I fish if they did drop them from a plane......the bass and stripers learn the schedule of stocking and wear (think they have a private number to the dfg or buddies on the inside) because the minute those fish hit the water, well lets say it looks like an aquarium at feeding time. Dumped over deeper water by plane would offer them more chances to adjust without being subject to predation as easily since they wouldn't be pinned to the bank and have room to move and escape. Just my thoughts. But if concerned, maybe we should get them little parachutes.....j/k
  2. I'd say M/ ML. My dropshot rod has 10lb braid and I adjust the leader as needed. Normally 8lb but will drop to 4 or 6lb if needed and yes in a tournament as well. If I had to fish light to get bit so be it. I'd rather be getting bites and putting fish in the boat then powerfishing and catching nothing. So if you're fishing a tournament, don't be afaid to drop down to get bit. Got to get a bite before you can put one in the boat.
  3. My swimbait reels are a Shimano Cardiff 300 spooled with 40lb pp with a 25lb topshot (8ft) of CXX. Other is a Lexa 300 with 65lb pp and 25lb FC. Honestly looking to swap the Cardiff 300 for another Lexa 300. Throw my umbrella rigs with a BPS Exteme and 30lb pp with 20lb CXX topshot as well as using a Cabonlite with the same set up and haven't had any issues with the reels handling the rig the way I fish them. But if I was to use a round reel I would stick with the Cardiff 300 or get a 5500 size ABU. But unless you're throwing the bigger 8" swimbaits I haven't had any issues with using my regular sized reels to get the job done.
  4. agree with 20lb braid, always adjust a small topshot of FC weather it be 12-15lb.
  5. I carry/use a waste pack I can fit 2 3600boxes in, my worm binder, and a small box of assorted weights and hooks as well as any other odds and ends in the 3 pockets. Great thing about it, I can slip the 1 or 2 rods I'm not fishing between the pack up against my back and they are out of the way. Need to swap, I have my quiver of rods I can reach back and pull one out and slip the other in the seam.
  6. No, even better using surface poppers and seeing a whole color spot of 25-30lb jack crevelles charge your bait and seeing a half dozen brown backed ajs trying to push them out of the way to get a chance at it or try and take it out of the hooked fishes mouth.
  7. Look up under your dash, trace wires. Welcome to boat maint. You should learn EVERY inch of your rig and what does what. Bust Out Another Thousand
  8. May also look into River 2 Sea's Whopper Plopper. They have a couple sizes on TW and both produce really well.
  9. first off are you sure the pumps are bad? Could one of the wires going to the pumps be corroded or broke causing it not to work? Depending on how much trouble shooting you have already done and how long you have to get it fixed before you need it then it might be easier to have someone work on it. But I would check the wiring first to make sure you're getting power back to the pumps before I would look at replacing them.
  10. I fish 30lb braid with 20lb mono topshot. Most probably fish heavier though.
  11. The day my son caught his first bass on his own on a 4" yum dinger rigged up MJ style.
  12. I can tell you what the cost of my piece of mind with my ex was concerning custody issues.....$6000, best money EVER spent in lawyer fees. It's great when they call and yell and you say, "I'm sorry, if you want to discuss this go ahead and call my lawyer". And from a fathers side, we always seem to get the short end of the stick even when we are the ones stepping up to take care of our childern.
  13. Good answer and fish. That's about the size of half the stockers they put in city lakes out here. When the fish figure it out, they wait patiently and the min they hit the water it's feeding time.
  14. Dinks.....those aren't dinks, those are bass candy......can someone say swimbait!!!!
  15. ^^^^^ That's funny right there.
  16. Very true Glenn, but even if they weren't using an Umbrella Rig, they had the discrepency in the polygraph that led to the DQ under Rule C7. I know that's their offical statement which can cover quite a bit of different tackle senario's. Just saw that there was no finding of them using the umbrella rig, but whatever happened to cause the issue still led to the DQ.
  17. If you're going to keep them and she isn't fighting you, make sure you get it through the courts and let them know. That way you don't get hit with big past due child support payments because you withheld.
  18. What about the Storm Wiggle Warts? Like those, the DD-22's, SK 3, 3XD, 5XD, 6XD, Bomber Fat Free Shad Shad
  19. Christmas Story, Elf, and NL Christmas Vacation. Almost forgot all "The Santa Claus" movies too. But as a kid I still loved all the Christmas Cartoons like Rudolph The Red Noised Raindeer, Frosty The Snow Man. The clay/stop animation ones were the best.
  20. I'd fish it in the afternoon if you have 58 degree water. Had good late season frog bite last time I was home with the water right at 60....but they were all afternoon fish on bright sunny days up shallow so I'm sure 58 water you could probably get buzzbait fish if you worked it long enough.
  21. I'm not sure, but I'm sure there will be more to this story
  22. Rule C7, which covers tackle and equipment. The rule states, “Any umbrella-type rigging, harness, or other device designed to hold more than one lure at a time — with or without hooks — is not allowed. Such rigging, harness, or device cannot be added to a single lure as described above. Traditional twin arm spinnerbaits or buzzbaits are allowed. Trailer hooks and plastic trailers must be on the main hook of the bait; only spinner blades can be affixed to the arms. The head on the main stem may be hinged. On these spinnerbaits or buzzbaits, no more than two wires, with a maximum length of 6 inches, may extend off the main arm or body of the lure. The ‘head and hook’ portion of the lure must trail behind the blade or blades. B.A.S.S. officials have the sole authority to determine whether a lure is considered a single lure as defined above.”
  23. The talk and time out only works when they know if they don't behave they will get spanked. I had a rough time with mine when he was small. Yes I had to break him and disipline him with spanking, but now the thought of him getting a spanking is all it takes. I grew up with "tough love" and respecting my parents or I got the belt. We can't use belts now days....or switches for that matter. But once you have their respect and know you will follow through with the punishment they seem to get it and understand at which the talk and time out works fine. And mine also know that everything they have isn't theirs.....IT'S MINE. I just let them use it and Daddy givith, but also with takeith away just as fast. I wish you the best but it is a tough road to try and co-mingle two families when there are two different standards of discipline. Hold your ground, your kids are the most important item in this discussion and if her lack of disipline and control of hers will cause issues with yours, then you have no choice but to walk away if she can't understand your concerns and reign in her child.
  24. they are great in the wintertime with the bigger swimbaits to....IE Huddleston 8".
