  1. first answer is a yes and a no for me, second answer is a no. Sure it would be great to be a pro angler in some aspects, but I would hate the day that my passion and hobby becomes a stressful job where there is no guarantee of a pay check I will never have the chance or be good enough to go pro hahaha
  2. I prefer centrifigual also, basically set and forget. Im not a fan of mags one bit but its a personal thing. Many like them. I had a revo stx for a while and sold it because after a while I realized I never once turned the mag brakes on.
  3. great, now you have me double thinking the surgery! My dr said because of how fast it has progressed its the best bet but now im not sure
  4. About 6 months ago I started experiencing numbness in my hand/wrist and forearm and it has progressivly gotten worse to the point now that its nearly unbearable pain when working (on computers) driving, and sleeping. At home physical therapy has not helped, and iv done the exercises daily as prescribed. My dr finally decided it time to do surgery, How will this affect my fishing? I work the rod with my left and reel with my right, is the rod working or reeling harden on the hand? Im considering switching to left hand bc reels but Im unsure if it will help or make matters worse.
  5. I like to start my search with a lipless crank. I can explore every depth with a single bait and experiment with different retrieves to trigger a strike. Once I locate the fish, ill switch to something different to hook up consistantly with such as a swim jig or a square bill if they are located directly tight to cover. Now when I fish the river, I do it different. I basically just throw jigs and tubs most of the time at and around cover with much success
  6. I use pre rigged punch weights from siebert outdoors and can get through the thickest of the thick the north has to offer (which might not be near as thick as some stuff they punch in florida) with great success. I fish a few ponds that are all lillys. Literally you cant see the water and have not had trouble getting the rig down
  7. I would be super leery standing up in a 10' jon honestly.
  8. anything that will allow a break in the current can and will hold fish, everything from a rock, bridge pylon, wood (trees, docks, logs) to a simple cut in the river bank
  9. downsized, light line presentation. Thats what finesse means to me
  10. Honestly, I think your assumption is bass akwards. Tourney fish are kept in livewells for hours, transfered to bags, flashed to the crowd. In and out of water how many times? Our fish are looked at for 20 seconds and set free. In my views, tourney fish stand a much higher chance of death
  11. Where are all the shimano fan boys when you need them?
  12. I just messing with ya, all in good fun. Tight lines man
  13. woa woa woa....settle down there. No one is trying to "school" you. Unless you're talking about on the water, Ill school ya out there
  14. This is not always the case, there are days where the fish want a crank ripped by them as fast as you can get it. When you slow down, so does the bite. I love fishing cranks on the fast reaction crank bites
  15. You wouldn't see anyone with a Taylormade 3&4 iron, a Callaway 5&6 iron and a Titleist 7-PW I disagree! I play my main irons are Mizuno MP 54's but only 5-9. I carry tommy armour 855s 3&4 iron and a scratch pitching wedge in 47*. The rest of my wedges are older vokey wedges with the no longer conforming grooves. I play a different 3&4 because they are my weak irons and I play better with the old armours. The mizunos are less forgiving and I play the 5-9 great but cannot remove a slight over fade in the low irons no matter what I do.
  16. Slow down, same as a standard roll cast, if you over power it you'll backlash. And its easier to over power when casting overhand in my opinion
  17. been there, done that. Im not knocking them, but in my opinion anything over an abec 5 is a novelty item. Cool to have but no real use
  18. I'm tyring to get the pictures off my phone. Im having some issues.
  19. What an experience, iv never had drag peel like that from a bass. I couldnt believe it when she jumped out of the water and I realized THIS WAS A BIG BASS hahaha. That moment I got her in my hands, I felt like a child again
  20. I would use abec 7 ceramics again in a heartbeat if I could afford a dedicated pitching setup. The startup for the pitch is improved a good bit in my opinion. But for overall casting, I saw no real world gains. Im down to 3 setups these days simply due to cost restraints. (I used to have 7) and and making the most out of every investment these days is very important. To a beginner or someone like me whos broke lol I would never recommend them honestly. Hell a stock bearing, once flushed and clean is a major improvement over stock
  21. If you did some research into abec standards, you would understand that the differences between 5,7,9 are tolerance for VERY high RPH. Im sorry but our reels are not spinning at even 1/50th of that rph load. In my old chronarch I had I first put in abec 5's and swore I noticed a gain. Then I measured, about 40-45 yards on average. Then I upgraded to abec 7 ceramics, and again swore I noticed the gain......until I measured. about 40-45 yards. The only thing I gained was a loud cast and lost 40 bucks. The only true gain I experienced was in pitching. And then maybe only a few yards max and I see no need to pitch a bait that far. I atribute this to being able to run the ceramics dry
  22. I keep mine set at about 6lbs for most of my reels and run either 12lb mono or 50lb braid depending on the rig. I use 6lbs for both lines and have never had an issue
  23. I just returned today from a family vacation to assatigue island MD and we stayed in a little gated community. There were 3 ponds on the property that I was able to fish without a MD license. I only took one setup with me, a 7' MH Fast with a 6.4:1 revo s as I figured the jig/plastics bite would be good and the rod would double as a good spinner bait and frog setup for a do it all. Wednesday I got a day all to myself to fish as my wife and Father in law took my children shopping for the day. I was hammering them all day fishing a grass jig 3/8 oz along the shore line of all 3 ponds. By 4 pm I had 19 bass, most between 1 and 2 pounds (I never even put any of these on the scale as they were nothing of great size) and I was just about to call it a day after fishing nearly 10 hours. On the walk back to our house, I decided to stop at the smallest of the 3 ponds for a few more casts. This pond is maybe 3/4 of an acre if that. I walked to the far end and decided to tie on a swim jig and fish the deeper section of the pond despite the fact that most bass were bedded up shallow. First cast, I let the jig sit for a few seconds, pop her up and start to swim it back to me when all of a sudden BAM....FISH ON. By the feeling of the strike, I thought I hooked a big bullhead. My rod was bent right in half and my drag was screaming. I was thumbing the spool to slow her down when all of a sudden she jumped and I got the first look at the biggest bass iv ever seen in person (northern guy here where a 6pounder is a blessing). About 20 more seconds and I had her in my hands. I couldnt believe it, I was shaking so bad I could barely stand up. My previous PB was 6lbs 5oz that I caught years ago. I instantly knew this fish was bigger.....and by alot. I rushed to get my berkley scale and get the fish weighed, pictures, and back in the water. By this time I had 5 guys come out of their houses to look at the fish. One guy claiming he has been fishing this pond for 15 years and has never seen one half that size come out of it. In the end the fish was out of the water for only a minute and man I wish I could have held her all day hahaha Stats: 9lbs 3oz 25 1/4 in long I will post pictures when I can get to my home computer and pull the pictures off of my cell phone
  24. I have used dirty jigs, and have about a dozen of them in my box. That said, the siebert outdoor jigs I use have held up much better. The paint on the dirty jig heads in my opinion has been low quality. After a few days fishing there is hardly any paint left and the ones with eyes, well they no longer have eyes. ahhhh the truth comes out. Pushing your board sponson on another forum. Makes perfect sense now
  25. I would save some money and go with a *** black rod. At 100 bucks a pop and honestly a top quality rod you could get two and still save a bit of money
