Any Tips For Pickwick Lake?
There is a rock row just downriver of Mcfarland Harbor. It extends from Riverfront Park which is on the Colbert County side and extends all the way to the mouth of Spring Creek. I have had good luck with cranks, topwater, soft plastics, spinners etc. Some of the rocks are visible but many are submerged, so be careful if you fish that area. Also the 7 Mile Island area has been productive. Lots of grass from just downriver of Pride Landing all the way to Natchez Trace bridge and beyond. I do not fish past Natchez Trace bridge area much, except sometimes I will fish Big Bear Creek which is just a few miles down river of the Trace. I have had good luck there. Although it is my home lake, I am by no means an expert on Pickwick but I will help you out all I can

So Sad He Has To Sue Igfa To Get His Money
Whats kinda funny to me is a guy broke the world record here in AL this past year. His was 70+ lbs. He was using Mustad hooks as well, but he had not signed up for the contest. You don't hear him crying

Pickwick And Grass?
Fished Pickwick Thursday on the upper end around Mcfarland to Riverfront Park/Seven Mile Island area. Caught pretty much all my fish on a Strike KIng 1/4 oz Swim Jig in either Black/Blue or Green Pumpkin with matching Rage Baby Craw. All our fish were in the 1-3 lb range. My partner caught several on a Fat Free Crankbait and a 3-2 Smallmouth on a Black/Blue jig.

Pickwick And Grass?
I am fairly new to fishing the grassy areas, but I have had success getting fish to hit topwaters such as frogs, either ribbits or KVD Sexy Frog and also buzzbaits. A spinnerbait burned across the top of submerged grass has worked a little bit too. I have tried throwing soft plastics with some success, try and find a pocket and throw into it, give it a few bumps or pulls then retrieve and throw again. The grass is thick in a lot of places. It extends well past Natchez Trace bridge.

Anyone Throwing A Lews?
I have bought 2 Speed Spools recently..One in 5.4:1 and one in 6.4:1 I LOVE them. As long as they are putting out this quality reel I will never buy another brand. They are fantastic!

Fishing Pickwick Lake
I have fished spots similar to those that I've done well on in the past. Just not connecting with them like before. I'm beginning to think that impatience is a lot of my problem

Fishing Pickwick Lake
Thanks for your input. I have had most of my luck on plastics as well. the deep bite hasn't been there for me much at all except with crankbaits. the shallow bite has not been consistent as in years past. I need to just keep fishing and eventually it will work out!

Fishing Pickwick Lake
Greetings. Have any of you guys fish Pickwick lake recently? If so how has the bite been? It has not been as good for me this year as in past years. I have heard other locals say the same thing. Many spots that I have fished in the past that have produced fish are not producing. Just wondering if anyone is having better luck and what general area not specific spots of course (i.e. Wilson Dam area, Steam Plant, Waterloo, Pickwick Dam area etc.) Also what techniques have been working for you. I have caught fish using a variety of techniques with soft plastics and crankbaits being top lures but nothing consistent.. I have had nothing bite topwater to speak of..also cannot get them to bite a spinnerbait. Anyone have any tips?

Pickwick Trip This Weekend
Ledge fishing has been pretty hot lately using swimbaits and 5XD or 6XD cranks. The Everstart and last week the College Tourney was won on Pickwick using this method. I haven't been having much luck with the shallow bite lately. All my big fish have been caught in deeper water the last couple of weeks

Stupid Question About Bassmasters
If I'm not mistaken the rules do not allow the angler to leave his boat during the day so going in the woods is out of the question. I imagine the "nothing in, nothing out" is most plausible scenario
