  1. Just got the T3 Air (with KTF drag star and Hedgehog Air bearings) I've had the 1016 since last year (with Boca Bearings and Steez handle)
  2. How about a solid line that shines? Like a piece of foil or whatever the bait companies use? Thats pretty cool though!
  3. Well done. I love catching fish from shore. Especially if I can land a beauty like that.
  4. I wanna say June of 2008 Just shy of 7LBS (it was skinny!) Released after a good fight
  5. Not sure how much line you put on but a spool isn't completely covered by line...
  6. I have a Daiwa Steez 100SHA with the red spool and was looking to swap it out for a different look. Not too crazy about the SV spool. I can swap the 100HA spool (the black one) with it correct? Does anyone have an extra Steez spool? If so please PM me.
  7. Thanks. I ended up buying a Wilderness 115 Angler. I should be comfortable in it. Seen some good reviews.
  8. I hear that. I use to have a crankbait series GL2 and it was sweet but I'm not nearly as picky with a crankbait or even a frog rod. Alright you talked me into it. I'm gonna buy another
  9. Yes. The lower end G Loomis rods I would not recommend. If you're going to spend 200 or less don't buy a GL2. They are not good rods even at 150. If you want a GREAT rod then you have to spend the money on a GLX or NRX. Someone compared it to buying a Mercedes. That's the comparison that you should have made. Beats by Dre is a fad and a fashion statement for dumb kids that don't know any better.
  10. I disagree. Honestly that statement is ridiculous. The NRX is a perfect rod. So is the Legend Xtreme overpriced also? I own both by the way.
  11. Yeah whenever I hold a GL2 at Dick's or Gander Mountain I'm like uhhhh yeah. Its a heavy clunky rod. I would pass on it for plastics but I actually owned a crankbait version GL2 and it was decent. I've considered buying another because I sold it a while back. I just can't see myself spending the money on a NRX or GLX for a crankbait rod.
  12. I might buy a Ocean Tetra 12' for 400$. Is that a good deal? Is it good for Bass fishing? I'm 6'4" 235lbs will I be comfortable? Can I stand in it? Whats a good kayak I can stand in while I fish?
  13. Rods are on a much smaller scale than reels. You can have a 100$ rod that works great. I have 2 Kistler KLX rods that I spent 150$ on a piece. My G Loomis GLX is not much, if any, better. Reels on the other hand I am more picky.
  14. Chronarch 100D7 with Avail spool, upgrades galore. Casts like a dream.
  15. Avid > Crucial Avid is lighter and I like the cork handle better (although I believe the newer Crucial rods have cork)
  16. Looks - Daiwa Features - Daiwa Technology - Daiwa "Fishability"- Shimano
  17. I've actually never tried the Alphas but I always hear good things. The Chronarch 100D7 is amazing too. Very similar to the Metanium MG7. I also put an Avail spool and Air bearings in mine that I recently bought. I forgot to get extra bearings for the upgraded handle I got for it though and will use the original knobs so I am patiently waiting for the knob bearings I ordered. Can't wait to fish it when I get it. Plan to use it for finesse applications.
  18. I've used dozens of high quality reels over the years. Great ones that stand out to me are the Core50MG, Zillion Type R, and Z2020. I have to say, I previously owned a Metanium MG7 with upgraded bearings and I've yet to use a smoother better caster. I think I might start looking to buy another.
  19. The Scorpion 1000MG is a sweet reel. I presently own the Core 50MG but sold my Scorpion last season. I prefer the Core but if you can get a 1000MG they are usually a great price.
  20. I'm not on tackletour forums... Any other way I could contact him other than having to join the forum? Man there isn't anyone on here?
  21. I'm very comfortable opening a reel, doing maintenance, and swapping parts but painting one makes me nervous. Is there anyone on the forum that is good at this that I could have them do it? Obviously I can pay. Nothing ultra fancy just a solid color with a glossy finish. Professional looking hopefully. Thanks
  22. Welcome to the area. The DC area is a metropolis but there are plenty of quiet places tucked into the traffic jams and politics. I'm sure people on the forum will give you a shout. Oh I like brunch almost as much as I like fishing
