How Many Rods Do You Use.
Early season with light vegetation and cold water I take 2: Chatterbait and texas rig plastic Mid-season I take 4-5 because I start using crankbaits and topwater. Late season I take 3: Senko, texas rig plastic, and frog.

Those Abu rods look nice. Good rods in this day and age can be had for 100 bucks. A 100 dollar rod today equals a top of the line rod 10 years ago maybe better!

Imports, From China??
Imported products have always been preferred it's just now it's becoming impossible to avoid it. Our fellow American's are shipping the factories overseas to avoid taxes but mainly for the cheap labor that isn't unionized. The flip side to that is it creates a more affordable product so the money you save buying it can be used elsewhere. Eh, sorry economics is another interest of mine second only to fishing! But yeah, generally speaking Chinese is synonymous with low quality. I stay away for that fact.

Chronarch Ci4+
I'm aware that the E Chronarchs are similar to the Curados... Who cares about those now anyway?! hehe I noticed the Metanium is a little bit lighter and has 2 more bearings but I just assumed the 2 extra bearings were in the handle. Appreciated and all but not quite a mind blowing difference. Also the Chronarch has an outside brake control (in a US version?!). It just seems the frame is similar. Anyway, I plan on buying a Metanium this week. Doubt I'll buy a new Chronarch unless I hear it's as good or better than the Metanium. I've downsized recently (check out the flea market) and I'm steering more towards Daiwa but I'll always have one nice Shimano in my lineup

Chronarch Ci4+
Does anyone know the difference between the new Chronarch and the new Metanium? Is it now Chronarch=Metanium like Core=Metanium? They look awfully alike

Double Digit Largemouth On Braid No Leader?
I don't really think fish are smart animals. Think about it. Reptiles, fish, and insects were here before mammals and birds. Without getting into that too deep you should be okay. I've fished clear water where I KNEW the bass saw me and yes they seemed a bit shy but when that lure swings into their face they can't resist. Again, I think bass have a brain developed strictly for instinct. I don't believe they possess any cognitive ability...

Thanks for the info. The 1000sv is the JDM version correct? How does that one stack up against the 1016?

I see....so you prefer the Air over the 1016 when it comes to lightweight stuff? As far as pitching/flipping you would stick with the 1016? Yeah its an awesome looking reel and I think I'm going to go ahead and buy one. Why did you replace the knobs? The originals look cool.

I'm a fan of the T3's! I have two. They are probably my favorite reel at the moment. How's the T3 Air is my question! Thinking about buying one but before I shell out that kind of money I need to hear they are that much better than the 1016W... please elaborate nycgrip

What's Your Favorite Brand Of Mono Line?
Whatever is on sale! I stay cheap with mono but fluoro I get some of the most expensive stuff available!
-
Frog Rod/reel
I use a Kistler Zbone 7' MH Fast with a Shimano Core 50. Line is 15lb power pro. Works great
-
Chronarch C14 Or Core
The new Chronarch looks cool. Shouldn't it be compared to the Core 50 not the 100? If so the Core is lighter and yes, more expensive.

Counterfeit Reels!?
Although it wouldn't surprise me I've never seen or heard of counterfeit fishing reels. Anyone? Look at this website that originates in China http://www.valeogc.c...ls-c-19_22.html

This Is Too Good To Be True Right? Gotta Be.
In all my years of fishing I've never seen any counterfeit fishing gear! Why reels though? You would think rods would be much easier... But a Daiwa Certate for 175 bucks?! Yeah right.

Trade Off Of Fluoro And Braid
I use braid for topwater frog. Can't stand it for anything else really. I think it's loud and too stiff for anything else. Just my opinion. Mono for crankbaits and other topwater. Fluro for anything soft. But yes there are times I go thru Fluro like toilet paper.

Kistler Zbone Le- Which One Is It?!
I recently bought a Kistler Zbone LE-4MH-70. I know they retail for 400 bucks so I got a good deal but I can't find the exact model I bought online ANYWHERE. They all look a little different. Like the American flag is either above the reel seat or below (mine is below) and some have an all red fish emblem (mine is red/silver). Is this a custom made Zbone or a stock? The guy I bought it from isn't sure. I'm the third owner. Any other owners out there know what I'm talking about that can help? Thanks.

Core 50Mg7 Vs. Revo Mgx 7.1:1
The Core 50 can handle heavier stuff and so can the MGX but lightweight application is where these reels shine. I have both paired on the same rod with 10 pound fluro. I could go on forever comparing these two reels but a few things stick out about each. The Core is a bit smoother but doesn't have a clicking spool tension knob. The MGX has a clicking spool tension knob but the brakes always seem to be on a bit. It's a little restrictive although doesn't effect casting distance. Both cast the same distance pretty much. The Core has a higher ceiling for adjustments but you can push it too far and get backlash. Both reels have their own way of telling you hey thats too light to cast that far but they will still amaze you with performance. Hope this helps. I probably prefer the Core a little more but I highly recommend both.

Please Recommend A Baitcaster 100 To 150 Dollar Range
I've tried a Lexa 100 and its pretty solid. Usually I stay away from Daiwa and Shimano's low end stuff although the top end stuff is unbeatable. That being said I'd go used Curado or Chronarch. A used Quantum Smoke or a used Abu Garcia Revo is also a good choice IMO. All reels I have used and approve of.

Suggestions For Ultra Light Line
With lighter lines (I use 10lb fluoro for weightless plastic and 4lb mono when I occasionally fish for trout) I NEVER go cheap. The heavier lines I think you can go a little cheaper. I've used 14lb Berkley and never had any problems.

What Easily Installed Components Improve Reel Performance?
I do think Boca bearings slightly improve casting performance. I've put them in my Metanium and MGX.

Spinning Rod: Which Would You Choose?
I had a Mojo rod before. I ended up trading it to a friend who doesn't splurge on rods/reels like I do. He likes it a lot
