  1. My favorite is the Keitech tube. It is solid/weighted in the head. If you rig it backwards, it dives away from you on the fall.
  2. I didn't think so either, but football injuries to both knees has me fighting arthritis way to early. My wife bought me a pair when they were on sale at Bass Pro. I was a Crocs guy before but I really like the Zekos. And if you can stand the bright yellow ones branded by Strike King, you can get a pair at TW for $38 I think.
  3. I used a 6'10" M spinning rod with straight 20lb Power Pro which has the diameter of 8lb (I think). I also tried the same set up with a 10lb leader & my results were about the same, so it was braid only for me after that. The M action rod & the right drag adjustment worked just fine. Most of my strikes came on the fall, so I think the braid had something to do with slowing the ROF.
  4. I know I've said this before, but the A-Rig was outlawed because of it's effectiveness & it looks like a wad of coat hangers coming through the water. If the presentation & action is right, I don't think it matters.
  5. Check out the Santone Texas Finesse Jig. Whatever you do, don't try the River Bream color
  6. Plus one on the split tail shaky head rig - especially purple/white tail....
  7. This has been an excellent bait for me. It also just cashed a nice check at Guntersville (2nd I believe) where they are flying off of the shelves. http://www.*.com/Fringe-Tackle-Hollow-Belly-Swimbait-p/frngtckl-hbsb5.htm
  8. All above are good choices, but this my Fluke hook of choice: http://penhooks.com/products/f-hook
  9. I really like the flat sided squarebills. They fly off the rack in my area.
  10. Here are a few plastic swimbaits & big wake baits at your price point: Lunker Punker 5" & 6" River 2 Sea S-waver 6.75" Savage Gear Slide Swimmer 6.5" Lucky Craft Real Bluegill Lucky Craft Smasher Spro BBZ-1 6" Jackall Dagored Jackall Mikey Jr. I'm sure there are others that will be added to the list. Tight lines!
  11. D&M has a swimbait about to be released - needs a 10/0 hook! https://www.facebook.com/107773365943437/photos/a.562937590427010.1073741825.107773365943437/815705475150219/?type=1&theater Blackhawk Custom baits has a big creature bait. https://www.facebook.com/Blackhawkcustombaits
  12. Straight braid for me. The major tournaments outlawed the A-Rig because it is too effective, yet it looks like a wad of coat hangers coming through the water. To me bait selection and presentation are the most important.
  13. At 95mm (4"), it must be as wide as it's long to weigh 8 oz!
  14. Slightly related, I like to use a finesse jig/trailer as my drop shot weight.
  15. My favorite: http://www.dmcustombaits.com/piranha-2-swim-jig/
  16. I gave these a try on recommendation from a club member & I was not disappointed. Very sharp, very strong. http://penhooks.com/products/f-hook
  17. I've been Owner & Gammy for years unless I'm flipping - then I use the Trokar TK130. But I recently came across a smaller company called Penetration Hooks. Delivery was fast & quality is awesome. http://penhooks.com/
  18. I like them a lot, but not very durable. Which is probably why I like the action. Use an o-ring & the baits will last longer. Gonna try them Neko style this Spring with the nail weight in the tail. Good luck!
  19. A big plus for the Cavitron. But if you like to throw them where you might not get them back (like I do), try the D&M Buzz Saw. Free swinging EWG that you can rig your trailer of choice weedless. It's a very well made bait also.
  20. Yep. Mark down price was $69.97 & then you get 50% off of that. They had a M & MH spinning left - I bought the M.
  21. For those in the N. Dallas area, I just left the one at the Tollway & Alpha. There was a Veritas 7' MH spinning rod marked down to $69.97 plus an additional 50% off. And a St. Croix Mojo 7'9" swimbait rod for $119.97 with an additional 50% off. Also had Power Pro & CXX line left. Not much else left in hard or soft plastic baits. Last day - go get 'em!
  22. This tube has a solid nose, so you can rig it backwards & weightless.
  23. The flat sided square bill is awesome. To me it's a SPRO for $4.00.
