You don't have to fish with the cover on. Keep it in your pocket, slip it over the reel if you're going to lay it down. Not very smart to lay a $300 reel on rocks.

Not unusual for the off-shoulder to stop an arrow like that, given the angle of penetration. Pass-throughs are nice, but not necessary. Watch enough videos, you see plenty of lethal non-pass through hits. Pass-through does make for an easier tracking job.

If I still had my old pop-up and could get a good deal on a trailer, I would make one of those. Half the campgrounds I visit wouldn't let me turn around in their parking lot pulling that thing.
