I don't know what kind of rocks are in the Rap, but I wouldn't wade anywhere with anything other than a felt-bottomed boot. I've got those exact waders and they are quite good for the money. And unless you've got a pair of tennis shoes that are 2-3 sizes too big, you won't be able to get them on over the waders. A decent pair of BPS branded wading shoes with velcro and felt bottoms are around $30.

I made it a foot onto the ice before it cracked. I guess it takes more than 3 days of subfreezing temperatures to make safe ice.

I like Super SilverThread. I've been using the 4 lb. for trout for the last five or six years. Never had any trouble with it. IMO there are better lines on the market for every application.

Will the madness ever end? After spooling a new Citica 100DSV with braid in October, I thought the madness was over. But nay, it had only just begun. A quick stroll through the local tackle shop/beauty shop/tire & lube express revealed that they had done some re-stocking over the last few months. New reels, new rods, new lures...oh, and new lines. They had the usual stuff. PLine, Trilene, Stren, BPS Excel...wait, what's this? Vicious Ultimate...I've heard of this stuff. Yep, I walked out with a spool of 12 lb. test. The aforementioned braid has been unceremoniously thrown to the sidewalk. Such is the life of a line ho... :'(

TheBeast and I were thinking about wetting a line today. After a week of the coldest weather of the season, the end of deer season, and a general malaise, a few hours on the water would be a welcome respite. After hitting the local enabler yesterday (bought the last of their Silver Buddies ), we decided to a little recon. Hit a couple of ponds first, both frozen solid. > Headed over to the town reservoir (site of last January's trip from hell), not only was it frozen over, it was also down about 7' from where it was in October. We couldn't even launch a boat there if we wanted to. The ramp is completely out of the water. If we don't get quite a bit of rain over the next 3-4 months, tournament season might be in danger. Starting to miss my easy-to-launch jonboat now. :'( Might have to register the canoe so I can put the TM on it. More recon today, have a couple more ponds and lakes to check out.

What type of fishing do you do? The Pointers are second to none. A retard can walk the dog with a Sammy (just ask TheBeast). I've got a few cranks in the box that haven't been fished yet. Is there a bait they make that doesn't work?
