Try spending 12 hours on a boat with me. It's no wonder I fished our last night tourney alone.

I've got a guy locally who makes something similar to the bulldog one pictured. Clip it onto the line and sling it down. It works quite well on treble-hooked lures, not so well on worms or spinnerbaits. I've got one of the BPS retrievers, but I can never remember to get it out. The one mentioned above stays on the deck of my boat all the time.

I have paper maps of every lake I fish. If I'm fishing a new lake, I'll find a map of it. Also have the Navionics chip in my GPS, which goes with me on every trip.

I wouldn't mind fishing with the guy, but I think I'd have to throw him out of the boat before the day was over.

You have to purchase a GPS receiver for the laptop. This is a good deal... Delorme LT20 $70 base package.

VA's sportsman's license is $120 (a discount of $6 over buying the 7 licenses individually). I have no incentive to buy it as I never buy the archery or crossbow licenses. I pay $40 for my VA fishing license ($18 freshwater, $18 trout, $4 National Forest). $41 for my TN license. $54 for my VA hunting license. VA's went up $6/license last year, the first increase in around 12 years. Lifetime license is $255. If you fish stocked trout waters, you must still buy the trout license ($18 yearly or $255 lifetime). For hunting, you must still buy the muzzleloader/archery/crossbow every year as well as the Bear/Deer/Turkey stamp.

I did two non-trad. bachelor trips in 03/04. One was a trip to Atlanta for a weekend of Braves games. The other was a trip to Baltimore for a weekend of Orioles games. Good thing too since one of those guys has been invisible since tying the knot. >
