Depth shouldn't matter (at least not IMO and I'm no expert). More power = stronger returns = better picture of the bottom. Perhaps I'm wrong.

With a garage that shallow, you're going to be limited to boats around 17-18'. My tracker is 18.5', with the tongue folded it is still as long as an F250 super cab.

I would go with the latter rather than the former due to the increased power. 160 fewer vertical pixels shouldn't be a problem.

I have no experience with the larger units, but one thing I like about the 788ci is the ability to select different background colors. White background is great during the day, blue or black is great at night. I will say that even at it's dimmest, both blue and black tend to be a little too bright at night.

We're fishing an Elite Series style schedule this year, so our next stop is on Falcon.
