  1. Picked up a W&M Tessera yesterday, impulse buy. Had looked at them a few times over the last month. Ended up buying the 7' Spinnerbait/Worm rod. One thing the rod isn't is a worm rod. Might make a decent spinnerbait rod, but still a little too soft. It shines, however, as a crankbait rod. Combined with a Citica E and 12 lb. CXX, it is a Bandit 200 slinging machine. I was accustomed to having trouble casting the Bandit 100's and 200's. Usually throw them on a 6'6 Fenwick HMG M with decent results. Action is listed as Med. Fast, but it is closer to a straight Mod. Very light with a good amount of backbone. There are a few cons. Hook hanger is in the wrong place (always put the d**n thing in front of the reel seat). The cutout on the reel seat is a little rough. Some of the smaller guides have quite a bit too much epoxy at the base. Didn't think I would like it, but after one day of throwing nothing but crankbaits, I have to say it may be one of the best cranking rods I've ever used, even it that wasn't their intended purpose.
  2. The green mirror is copper-base in the 580, amber in the 400. The mirrored lenses transmit about 10% less light than the non-mirrored lens. My next pair will probably be silver mirror, but I don't think I could find a better all-around lens than the amber 400.
  3. I caught two identical smallmouths today. Both 16.5". Those and the one keeper I actually had would have elevated me into 10th or 11th place.
  4. If you have a Federated Auto Parts store nearby, they are running a sale through mid-April on SeaFoam. Almost half price on gallons.
  5. If you can get the nut off of any of my drawbars, more power to you. Once they're on, they're on to stay.
  6. Of the two, silver mirror. But yes, copper or amber would be a better fit for an all-around lens.
  7. Club & Region 10 tourney today on Cherokee. Total of 61 boats entered. Club had 14. Registration took forever. Tom and I didn't get to blast off until about 7:45. Caught my first about 10 minutes in. 16.5" smallmouth (18" to keep). Fished another two hours, nothing. Running up the lake, stopped on a heavily fished point, got a keeper largemouth on a Shad Rap. Thought the day was going to turn out pretty good. Nope. Guess this fortune could have been better... Got that one Friday night on the way to the lake. We kept running up the lake, stopping here and there. Tom wasn't getting any action and what I was getting wasn't good enough. Had a good day numbers-wise, just nothing of any size. Tom did help clean the lake up... Yep, he caught part of a gun rack. Running back towards the ramp, made one last stop around an island. Tom answers his phone, makes a wrong move and Mr Motorola is in 10' of water. Turned what was a bad day for him into perhaps one of the worst days I've ever seen anyone have on the water. I think he's going to give up fishing. Anyone want to buy a ton of Daiwa reels? Lone keeper ended up being 2 even, garnered us a 13th place showing. Once again we don't finish last. :-/ Took around 15 lbs. to win the region, 10 lbs. to win the club.
  8. I guess we fish for different reasons. If I can't get the fish in the boat in less than a minute, I'm doing something wrong. Time is money.

  10. AND...you just took it to the next level of ridiculousness I didn't think could be reached. Mentioning Presley and the Beatles in the same sentence as this specimen. Blasphemous tomfoolery, if you ask me. Yep, Lady GaGa is obviously 100x better than the Beetles ever thought about being.

  12. You must have been in the boat with the man in your avatar. You know it. Most fun I've had landing someone's 5 pounders.
  13. The craw cranks are nice. Their traps suck ***.
  14. Useless wastes of money. Instant hang-up machines.
  15. UK is making ETSU their *****... 54-26 at the half.
  16. I've combined the two (Stabil Marine, SeaFoam) and haven't had any problems. Usually run SM, added a pint of SeaFoam once or twice last summer.
  17. I've seen something similar on another Quantum spool.
  18. Man I love that place. Would love to spend a week fishing that system.
  19. Dynamite We've had warmer weather since then, but two weeks ago I think a total of three fish were caught on the lake in one day. At least three tournaments got refunded (everyone zeroed). I would rather not even have it on our schedule.
  20. She looked great before she went commercial.
  21. OEM oil (Shimano, Daiwa)
