  1. Wife and I went over yesterday evening. Took the in-laws out for their first bassboat ride for a while, dropped them off at the ramp and then started looking for fish. First creek didn't produce, but that was pretty much a repeat of last week's trip. Second creek produced right off the bat. Hope I can get five like that Saturday night. Caught it on a Rattlehead spinnerbait. Didn't want to soremouth them, so I tried a few new areas in the creek. Got another one pretty quickly in the first spot I hit. Didn't measure. Ran back down the lake after a while, hit a couple of points and pulled this one in. It was 1/2" short. Tried a couple more spots down towards the dam, got one more on the spinnerbait, but my wife was asleep and couldn't run the camera. Headed back to the ramp and fished around the cove for a bit. Trying a buzzbait, threw it in a tree. Went over to try to free it when I saw a pair of eyes on the bank. The ramp area is full of coons. My buzzbait was stuck about 20' up in a pine tree (bank was closer than I thought). I'm yanking, trying to pull it free. I see the coon start climbing a tree, didn't think anything of it. Next thing I know, he's on the limb with my bait giving it a good look. Hard to snap the camera, pull on the line and keep the TM out of the rocks at the same time. This is the best shot I got of him. I was hoping he could use his wonderfully dexterous fingers to free my buzzbait, but he just wanted to check it out. Saturday night is going to be interesting.
  2. :-? ;D
  3. If you're so inclined, you can go back and find my numerous posts concerning the Cavitron.
  4. Not surprising since praise and hype is encouraged and any criticism is akin to killing babies. Slowest buzzbait on the market? I tried running them slow, I tried running them slower. Unless I burned the bait faster than I've ever had to reel another buzz, it would never come to the surface. And then, more often than not, when it would finally surface, it would start to roll over. Don't worry about it, I wasted a bit of money and tried the baits. I gave most of them away, got ticked and threw a couple in the lake.
  5. I prefer to shoot them with a .410 when they jump. Saves any chance of getting slime on my carpet.
  6. You have a leaky fitting somewhere in the livewell system.
  7. Don't buy into the Cavitron hype. Lord knows I wasted enough money because of the hype here. Of the five that I bought, none of them would run upright and all required an extremely fast retrieve to even get a wake, never mind a buzz. If I wanted something that ran sub-surface, I would have saved my money and fished a spinnerbait. Strike King, Booyah, etc. etc. I've grown partial to the various Booyah buzzers over the last couple of years.
  8. Go with Costa Del Mar. I tried every lens color they offer, the amber lens gave the best overall performance. The 580 green mirror is a little darker (the CDM mirror finish transmits about 10% less light), but blends the amber and copper. I would suggest the glass lens, but it is out of your price range. Completely scratchproof. The CDM sizing runs S/M, M/L, and L/XL. I have a huge melon and wear the L/XL frames. The M/L (specifically the Fathom) ran a little on the small side. Even the L/XL frames are a bit small on me, but are comfortable.
  9. Hey, I was running low on random photos. Time to restock the photobank.
  10. Ive had many things that were backordered from them. They have always shipped the rest of my items with their usual promptness, and the backordered items when they arrive. They once paid 4.75 to priority mail me 1 package of owner hooks that I didnt even realize were backordered. C L A S S ! Good deal, the way it read my whole order would not have shipped until the 28th because of the back orders which kind of scared me. Glad to know they do the same. If an item is due to arrive within a week of your order, they will usually hold the shipment until it arrives. Otherwise the order will ship and backordered items will be shipped upon their arrival.
  11. Let's compare the backorder procedures of BPS and TW. If an item is on backorder at BPS, they don't know when it will be in stock. They have an approximate ETA, but it is never right. When they finally get the item in stock, they charge you again for shipping the item. If an item is on backorder at TW, the ETA will be listed on the website and it is usually spot on. When the item is stocked, it is shipped immediately and, if the original order was over $50, for free. I have had BPS automatically cancel backordered items two weeks after I placed the order. When I called to inquire about the cancellation, no explanation was given, only an apology and an offer to order the item at the non-sale price. One must consider the size of TW and the size of BPS. Yet TW consistantly offers better prices and deals than BPS. TW's free shipping alone is reason enough to not patronize any other retailer. Yes, TW does go out of stock on items often. Mostly during the summer months when everyone is fishing. I ordered a Mustang PFD from TW in February. It was out of stock. I waited around five weeks for the item to be restocked and shipped. It wasn't a big deal. They were (and still are) $60-70 cheaper than any other retailer on that item. If you're in dire need of an item and it is out of stock, then I can see being somewhat miffed. But if you needed it that badly, why did you wait so long to order it? I was disappointed when TW only had one bag of 021 Flappin' Hogs in stock last week. But it isn't the end of the world. I have the option of ordered directly from Yamamoto or just doing without. It isn't TW's fault that they're out of stock. If anything, they are a victim of the quality of their service. Tackle Warehouse is second to none in the tackle business.
  12. You must not have much experience ordering from BPS.
  13. The Curado E series is the best reel available for less than $250.
  14. Tru-Tungsten Smart Peg
  15. I think this was the first time I've sprung for the fast shipping. I placed an order on the previous Friday, the regular ground shipping got it here in a week, which is usual for them. No complaints there though, at least I know when it ships.
  16. My 'clean out' was one package of 021 and three packages of 297. If I get into them tonight, I'll probably be running on empty again.
  17. What do you expect? You seem to be quite the soft touch. I think the day would have went quite differently had you said something to the guy rather than kept your mouth shut.
  18. OK, you've given me a weekend project. ;D
  19. I find Fishburne to be extremely abrasive.
  20. If I'm a fishy place and I don't get bit in ten casts, I change colors. Last weekend I went through four colors before I found the lizard they wanted.
  21. I know a good idea when I see it.
  22. Cleaned them out of 021 and 297 Flappin' Hogs on Friday morning. Needed them before this Friday, so I paid $5 for the quicker shipping option. They shipped Friday afternoon with an estimated delivery date of 7/7. I'm outside in the yard this afternoon and see a UPS truck stop in the driveway. Out walks the delivery guy with a Tackle Warehouse box. Yep, the package made it from CA to here on a holiday weekend in basically one full business day. I'd love to see BPS do that. I've paid them for two day shipping and waited three or four days for the order to even ship. Yep, Tackle Warehouse pwns all.
