  1. Why didn't you like tuf line xp? I thought it was pretty good.
  2. It was aquarium sealant caulk... Made of silicon I believe. Of course not every fish is going to die if you put it in the grass. Probably only a small fraction of them will, but why risk it?
  3. This is not true.. I have had two experiences where lack of slime coat has killed fish. 1. I had a albino cichlid of some kind which grew to about 7". One day the tank started leaking so I had to repair it and so I put the fish in a bucket which I filled with some tank water. I took the bucket outside and started to repair the tank with some caulk/glue. The fish jumps out of the bucket into the grass and flops about as I try and grab him and put him back in the bucket. He was on the grass for about 20 seconds, and within ONE DAY, he was dead. You could see the slime hanging off of him and the dirt that coated him as he swam around. Disease got to him and his mouth, nose, and gills had a mucus like substance coming out. 2. A neighbor's son came over to the landscape pond which had a pet bass in it. It was in the common space so it didn't belong to anyone. He caught the bass with a net and put it on the ground to look at it. It was there for probably 30 seconds flopping in the dirt and grass. He then put it back in and left. Later that day as I walked my dog I saw the fish floating on the surface, dead. PLEASE do not mistreat bass. Support their body so you don't hurt their jaw, and DO NOT let them flop on the ground. The slime layer is very important. It does not always kill the fish, but it will kill some so why risk it? You can call me a tree hugger or whatever, but the truth is that it will hurt fish. I see all kinds of videos on YT of people skidding the bass up into the grass and I cringe every time.
  4. Flush the spool bearings and throw on 1 or 2 brake shoes.
  5. Issue was resolved with TW. We had a miscommunication over the "in stock" dates on the website, but it is now resolved. Just got my email saying the package shipped!
  6. What kind of line are you using? The 100B holds 120 yds of 12 lb and 100 yds of 14lb. If you are using 20 - 25 lb mono/fluoro, you will only be able to fit about 65 or less yds of line because these line ratings are generally estimated for JDM lines which are closer to actual strength then USDM lines, which are normally a few pounds over the actual poundage rating. I would consider buying the BSV spool for it which holds 110 yds of 14 lb.
  7. I'd go to the second point down, and throw jigs into the deep water next to the point. The bass are probably staging there to spawn as long as the cove there is sandy.
  8. I would use the reels for techniques based off their size and spool size. Using a bb1 pro for plastics is possible, but is it a better choice than the ci4+ which has a lower line capacity, lighter spool, and arguably more palmable design? Not in my opinion.. Using a ci4+ for cranks and spinnerbaits again is very much possible, but is it a better choice than a bb1 pro, which is built for long distance with bigger lures? Not in my opinion. The bb1 pro's heavier spool will keep momentum better than the lighter ci4+ spool when casting lures that can start the heavier spool up properly (weights of about 1/2 oz +), so it is a good choice to use it for bigger cranks and other bigger lures.
  9. Under 3/4 oz total weight of jig + trailer - MH Over 3/4 oz - H
  10. I avoid setting the hook straight up mainly cause I don't the bait flying out of the water straight at my face so I just use a diagonal hook set. Usually just set it over my left shoulder.
  11. I absolutely love that crankbait. I went crazy last year when they went on sale for around $1.98
  12. Really nice line. Casts great and handle great, but it is not the most abrasion resistant. I use it for cranks.
  13. I find that is gives me more control and keeps the rod from rotating while fighting the fish. It is much more comfortable then holding the rod for me.
  14. I have had an awful experience with ***. I bought a rod earlier last year and have been waiting months and months to get it. Out of the 5 or so orders I have made with them, I have had to wait SEVERAL months on 2 of the orders.
  15. If you are fishing the flick shake with senko type worms + the 1/8 or 1/32 oz, that is still pretty darn heavy. I think I read somewhere that a 5" senko weighs 3/8..
  16. Action and taper are the same thing. I would go with a 7'MF with 10-15lb braid and a 10-12lb fluoro leader. You could fish almost any spinning rod technique on this setup since a medium is very versatile. You could use dropshots, shakey heads, t-rigs, etc.
  17. Putting grease in the lube port is a waste. It is putting more grease on top of the old grease, which may have gunk in it already. The extra grease that you put on this grease will most likely get scraped off by the pinion gear, and end up smothering the yoke in it. If there is way too much grease, the grease can eventually reach the ends of the pinion gear and get on the spool shaft which will harm your casting abilities quite majorly. A simple way to grease the gear is to break the reel down, clean the old grease out of every slot in the gear between the teeth with a toothbrush, and then reapply grease.
  18. I agree with them^. In the video, he didn't flush or clean anything with solvents. Adding a drop of oil on a bearing with out flushing it first is in a way hindering the performance. More and more oil doesn't give more performance.
  19. The bearing is a 8x12x3.5. Funny you mention it was rough after cleaning. Same thing happened to me as well with a spool bearing on the tatula. It locked up after cleaning it (with simple green) and I tried for a good 30 minutes to loosen it up. I could get it to turn with my thumb, but I couldn't get it to spin at all by flicking it.
  20. I cringed when I read that.. Hope BPS doesn't try to make it lightweight and blah blah blah. Wish they would just keep it how it is.
  21. It only happened with one of mine so it might have just been a lemon guide but I can't say for sure. I did the test with a cu tip to see if the cotton would catch on the guide and it did every time. Good thing it has a life time warranty.
