Chronarch C14 all the way!!! im a falcon man and curious to see what Jason Christie signature series is all about!!!
  2. big bite makes a good freakin bate, academy sales more of a variety in the stores abut thier website is lacking compared to the store selection for sure! but big bite is good and well worth the money! get u some! if u ever have a question about a bait, go to the actual webiste, big bite has some big names on thr prostaff! iv used them and zoom with no specific favorite but they both are fish catcher for sure! u wont be dissapointed!
  3. Try big bite, they make an affordable stickbait with some good colors, wave worm also makes a good one, had alot of success with th ocho by sk, the big bite are like 3 bucks a pack, waves bout th same but sk ocho is a tad more expensive, iv tried some of the cheaper ak models with not much success, maybe th fish kno thr cheaper??? Lol not really but sometimes it pay it pays to go cheap n sometimes it pays to bite th bullet n spend a little more. Like th thread above states, if u put it in thr face... Some ppl sat i get but more with a certain color or lure, but they probly throw thr fave alot more n give it more time in the water too. But also stated above, il fish a less expensive style for sure while practicing and while js fun fishing, i throw gama during fun fishing n strap in trokars on tourney day. Sam goes with plastics, if th fish are there, in time they will bite, js give them and baits alike an honest chance at it
  4. seaguar!!! start with red label, invisix even better, abrasix even better, but im scared to get some tatsu! lol but vanish, not a good idea, although i have heard some good things about the 100% flouro from the same company and there is a new pro grade flouro thats suppose to drop sometime after icast but i think is menat for spinning gear. i dont think it would hurt to go up to 17 flouro just due to the fact u might need the bigger line due to from i read you fish from the bank, you are kinda limited on space and with the larger line you can horse the fish a little more, i use the biggest line i can get away with honestly n thats never been a hinder to me although some flouros are slightly stiffer in the larger sizes but seaguar invisix is great! but maybe try the advice above in the threads and hopefully it wont happen again!!! good luck bro!

i like the strike king kvd heavy cover swimjig in sexy shad with a zoom super speed craw on the back or the regular ultravibe speed craw, iv had luck with a zoom horny toad with about an inch bit off it. ive even put a shadilicious on the back of it. but u can also swim any jig, caught alot of nice fish swimming a eakins jig over and thru grass. anywhere theres cover and where the spinnerbait bite has slowwed down and the fish want something more subtle than a spinnerbait or a chatterbait has proven a good time for me, spring thru fall. just my experience is all. hope this helps u, if ur on a budget, try ur favorite jig and trailor in different situtations while swimming it. experiment with diffrent trailors also. let the fish tell you what they want is my best advice, there is no substitute for time on the water. good luck and hope this helps
  6. 6 footer here, use anything from a 6'6 h to 7'6, just depends on conditions, but shorter the rod allows for more control and would recdomend as long as a rod that u can control accurately for sure. even a 6'6 mh isnt bad. il can flip my spinnerbait in holes on grass with my 6'8, iv flipped cranks in to small pockets with a 6'6, u hit the nail on the head with the practice part for sure tho! but just knowing ur equipment is my best advice, some rods have more tip and u have to adjust to the tip and depending on lure, line, and guides. my best advice to learn ur equipment like its 2nd nature and then u will know exactly wat angles and release points and spool tension to apply. hope this helps! let me kno if i can help with anything else!
  7. theres only a few applications i would stay away from the 6 ratios, topwater in super skinny water, flipping in skinny water, skinny water in general cz alot of times that momma is going straight for the deepest and closest she can get to and fast!!! had some under the boat before i even engaged my reel!!! buu i just dont feel its fast enough in superskinny water with any application. the other is cranking deeper lipped cranks deeper than 6-8 feet. i think thats when u need a grinder of a lower gear. you can but imo it pulls the baits too fast and doesnt allow you to feel it roll over the cover is your fishing cover, but... sometimes, sometimes they want the bait whizzed by the cover n not right on it. but it med range cranking can be done with 6 ratio, so to answer your question, i would stay away from skinny water and deep (10 feet+) with a 6 ratio, just my opinion and what works for around here! hope this helps ya!
  8. id recommend a copoly line. it has different properties as there is no "one" real good line for everything, you can use flouro on a topwater, it does sink, pulls the nose of the bait in the water and impedes the action of the bait. if your gonna use braid for all applications you have to take into account the no stretch factor, maybe a softer rod when using certain baits so the rod makes up for the lack of stretch using braid, there is no right or wrong answer here but only mere experiences that we have had that work best for us, depending on size topwater ur planning in using, dont let anybody tell you that you cant use flouro. i use flouro on .25 oz poppers, my sexy dawgs, xpods, z-pops, n spooks. PM me for the trick! lol dont want to let it out on here since these other guys havent found it yet. Might see one of them n a tourney where the topwater bite is on!

my thots on th release witll b this fall or winter, alot of companys wait til after icast to release newest products, in the past ive seen products come soon after and as long as the spring but my best gues for the release wud b a few months after icast. iv seen products that have come out in september and quoted as being new for spring in march, when they arent really "new", so id guess in the next few months it will be availible.
  10. congrats on the baby girl!!! i just had a baby girl 2 months ago n already taken her to the local pond with me! lol! but congrats and best of luck of that girl bro!!!
  11. iv had alot of luck with the crank, yank, pause retrieve and not neccisarily in that order or cadence but thats just in my experience, make sure ur hittin something, make as much contact with watever u can. just my take on it. but experiment with all varibles u can control and think of til u find the right combo that appeals to the fish on any given day. crazy thing about that approach is that it will change daily and also change throughout a single day! but never be content on a single retrieve, experiment and let the fish tell you how and what they want. as far as color, its a toss up, 2 ways to look at it, give them something that fits the forage for sure but then do u want to go against the grain to something that grabs thier attention or something that they have seen a million times, sexy shad is hard to beat in any of the major product lines, citrus shad or something with a little chart flair to it is always good and then the brighter all chart baits, its a never endding battel but all i can say is throw the everything u got at em til they can tell you what they want
  12. as far as the nicknames under the screen name, i think they words associated with the amount of posts u have on here, the more posts, the better the word in relation to fishing, but thats just my observation. i could totally be worng but look at the ppl with hi number of posts, theyre little nicknames are a little more appealing to the fishing world lol. but js my thots, like i sd tho, i might have totally missed it!
  13. not all rods are created equal for sure, diff models in thr actions differ with diff speeds, js play with the rods and see what u can and cant do with them, i have myself found using a rod for something it wasnt meant for and liked it better as my intentions than the reccomendations from the company. my advice is dont settle for what the hype or what somebody tells you about a rod or for any tackle for that matter, just experiment and see what best fits you and your applications. iv been blessed with having more than plenty of rods and reels that i can pick and choose for the specific app, but if you cant do that, just make the most of the equip at hand, u might find a more applicable use for the rod. if not than luckily you can replace if for another rod that fits your style better. but with watever happens on the matter good luck with finding the rod for you! alot of choices for sure!
  14. Whats the weight, hook size and how much!!!! Nice lookin jig for sure!!!! Dang good job!!!
  15. i dont use it but i still have a Bass pro shops tornado spinnerbait from the late 80s early 90s, i was always scared to lose it when i was younger cz it cost a whoppin 5 bucks and now i spend 5 bucks on 3 tungsten weights! my how times have changed, i would have never thought id spend 25 bucks on a spool and half of line!!! but im getting off the subject so il get off here, js remembered my tornado tho! thot id share
  16. they will make the chili cheese burrito for you, you just have to ask for it, ask them for nacho cheese and its a killer!!! lol! but the mann's -4 square bill. the new ones just arent the same! diff color schemes and dont fish like the older ones, i have a few left. walmart use to have a bait called "flw creature" it was made by manns, there were a few different styles but the one i liked the best is a fluke type bait with a hollow body and a solid head, the action was tops due to th hollow body but those are 2 id like to see back in production, i still have some of the original flw baits and bought them in 1999-2000
  17. im looking for a specific color to add to my arsenal, similiar to a name brand color/style but would like to see in in a different size and a little varied on the scheme. dont wanna leak the juice just yet, please pm me if interested in the making a specific color way for me and we can discuss the specs and details, thanks guys and hope to hear back soon!
  18. i will say i love to flip mn pitch, the speed is helpful when ur flippin grass or reeds and the fish is under the boat before you u can engage ur reel when fishing 10 inches of water!!! but would like to see more specs on the reel n like stated in earlier post, some tweaks IMO will need to be worked out before i spend 300 on another reel i dont need! but if its anything like the gen 3 revo line, theres gonna be a lot of love hate between the buyer and the revo! i myself seem like have a hard time putting my gen 2s down! js wish i wuda jumped on the gen 2 premiers earlier, mine had a problem with the spool getting too tight, threw it hard just to go 20-25 feet from the boat, cleaned and magnets loosened up all the way and still no luck, woun up returning it and getting a shimano and had no problems since but still have 10 revos and use the heck out of them! but back to the subject at hand, id like to try it out for sure but at that price point, i might have to wait due to the fact that the applications would be limited to hi speed lures. but we'll see cz i like to get new fishing stuff for sure!
  19. dear road warrior, i am saddend by your loss and just reading your post gave me chills and made my heart hurt to read. i once lost a couple older lucky rc1 silent fishing the river, hitting jetties with current, largemouth and sbig spots were stages on ambushing shad in the current breaks. got them hung in rope hanging off a bouy, hooks tangles in the cotton rope!!! too short to pull up and too deep to grab! but my son once lost a jewel jig with zoom ultravibe speeedcraw on it! not too expensive right, but it was attached to 17 lbs seaguar that was attached to a at the time, a brand new revo stx gen 2, and it was attached to a falcon cara swimjig special. its resting place is at the bottom of a local lake i frequent and still hope that just maybe i can see a glimspe of my new rod! it was the first time i had takn it out fishingand only casted it 3 times to set the magnets before my son threw it overboard! lol o well i guess, im here to talk about at least, wish i had that one back!
  20. hey man! if the shoe fits, wear it and glad u got a great deal on a rod!!! and i myself can say ive squeezed into to some ill fitting shoes only cz the price was right and the another thing is that u have ur credits to gander mountain so you can get whatever else u might want to get, not too sure if they have it but maybe get you a new curado e50 and start again with your search for a new rod!!! thats what i would do any way! lol glad u got fixed up and good luck on ur future outtings!!!
  21. i dont know how the new cumaras compare to the older ones, pros and cons i heard from both sides but id like to get my hands on one for sure, might be hard to get u a gen 1 cumara at gander mtn but the new crucials are nice but its not a cumara for sure buuuuuut they are anywhere from 60 to 80 dollars less too. i wud like to get ahold of another 7'2 hvy cumara gen 1 tho! i have a few of the 7'2s and they great all around rods for sure! i would just think that with the size of the 50/51 series that a heavier rod would over power the beneift of having such a smaller reel. in that regard, get a slightly heavier reel and a lighter rod, it my weigh the same as the combo u have if not balances to your likings. but thats my poor mans opinion! lol! bass resource... best forum alive!!!!
  22. For the money, im gonna get a cara for sure! Lighter and just feel better to me, its bout all i throw besides the exception of some cumaras n a few loomis rods but caras js fit me. Thanks for input tho guys, really like this forum!!!!
  23. When you guys talk bout the gl2, are u refering to the older blue colored blank cz those werent impressive at all. But the new split grip wine colored blank rods are real nice!!! A way better upgrade than th blue blank gl2. Js makin sure im unstanding exactly wat rod u guys are talkin bout is all bcz from experience th newer gl2 is night n day from th other. But i flet like th imx was a step up but havent had any experience with gl3, i saw them on some sites in clearance and assumed that they d/c'd tht line.
  24. SORRY for this post, i misread the original post with the price around 150, but the quantums will fit in your price range. cumara line is super light and new line runs about 240, if your not to worried about the combo matiching, try a quantum smoke or the exo runs about 140-180, falcon cara micro guide runs bout 230-280 and all those rods come in various models 7+. e21 wild black rod is way light and comes in a 7'3 mh runs about 140. not for certain is those are offered there but they are bigger names so hope they have something for u, some ppl might think that some rods need more of a meatier feel in thier hand cz the reel is so small and light, but i really like the 7'2 cara swim and cumara 7'2 mh fast tip for what ur expaining here, but my best advice is ask the associates if u can take the reel back there and feel the reel on the rods, maybe they can give u a sticker or something where u wont have any problms playin with the rods and the feel, sounds like fun to me!!! but good luck and hope this helps you!
