  1. The reigns bubbling shaker is pretty awesome on a small shakey head. I got a pack with MTB and need to find some more. LC

How is the action on these cabelas and gander mtn stick baits? I went with the BPS brand largely due to how close their fall rate and action resembled the GYBC Senko. Much closer than Yum, Big Bite, etc. LC
  3. I got a pack from a local tackle shop yesterday and got the chance to fish them last night. These things have pretty amazing swimming action in the water. I didn't get any bites on it, but man did it look good gliding through the water. LC
  4. After breaking the first guide on my spinning rod, I just picked up a lightning rod shock 7' medium spinning rod to serve as an interim finesse rod, until I decide on what spinning rod to get. I'm leaning towards a tatula but I still can't decide until many more hours of forum, youtube, and tackle website review researching hahaha. LC
  5. Wow that grip looks amazing. I love my current rod and hate that it broke. They have a gen2 of my rod but have switched to a full cork grip. I really prefer a split grip. If I end up getting a gen2 I may refer back to this thread to see if your guy can strip the grip and install one of those in a split grip config. I've been calling all over and can't find anyone locally that carries the tatula so I can get hands on. I do like the specs of the rod and I hate to admit it but the look of the rod is kind of drawing me to it as well. The black with gold trim would match perfectly with my Team Lews gold spinning reel, lol. I'd just like to hear some personal experience with the tatula spinning rods. Their BC rods get high praise so I'm hoping the spinning rod is of the same quality. LC
  6. Today, my beloved spinning rod broke. The first guide snapped off after a cast and I'm not real sure what happened. It broke at the bottom of the guide foot right where it's attached to the rod. I use my spinning setup primarily for finesse stuff. Weightless worms, senkos, shakey heads, ned rig, drop shot, and some small minnow sized rapala cranks that are too light to throw on my BB1. I've been eyeing up the tatula rods, and while I've come across alot of great stuff on the bait casting tatula rods, not much is mentioned on their spinning rods. I'm considering the 7' medium action fast tip. I use 15 pound power pro braid with either a 12lb or 8lb red label leader depending on conditions. Do any of you guys use the tatula rods? What are your thoughts on the rod? Sensitivity? Power? Do they fish heavier than rated? I'm calling my rod company tomorrow to see if the warranty covers the break or if they have an oops warranty. I've had the rod for 3 years but only fished it twice before this season started. If no warranty I may look into another brand, like the daiwa tatula. LC
  7. I recently replaced my Lews Tournament Pro Speed Spin with a Team Lews Pro Speed Spin and absolutely love it. Buttery smooth and feels great in my hand. It's a looker too. I'm tossing around the idea of putting it on a medium tatula rod, which I think will compliment it nicely in the aesthetic department. LC
  8. Same here. As a lefty, I cast with my left and crank with my right, both spinning and casting. Really just feels more natural to me. Usually as a lefty I'm cursed with sports equipment - guns, golf clubs, baseball mitts, and even with my guitars. It's nice to finally get a full selection of options for once, and not limited to just two or three models. LC
  9. Awesome PB man. Completely disassemble your phone and put all parts in a Tupperware container with some dry rice and let it sit overnight. This should take care of any remaining moisture in the phone. LC
  10. /Field of Dreams voice "Throw a senko, and they will come" A wacky rigged senko is my absolute go to anti-skunk bait. The ned rig is a close second. Followed then by a weightless texas rigged senko. The senko, in my experience, seems to get bigger fish. I've had them hit it on the fall, dead sticking, while twitching on the bottom, sitting on the bottom while picking out a wind knot, while swimming it back slowly, fast, jerking and popping like a fluke or jerking bait, burning it back across the top after an errant misplaced cast, right up on the bank in 2 inches of water, out deep in 40 foot of water, on a bed, etc. It just flat out catches fish. I've watched as a bedding bass ignored or ran from 10 different baits with multiple presentations. I tied on a senko, and the fish inhaled it before it even touched the bottom. LC
  11. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong but I treat it like any other treble hook crankbait, popper, etc and use mono. I throw it on my crankbait rod and Lews BB1 with 14lb Trilene XL. If it were a single heavy gauge hook like a buzz bait or frog I would use braid. LC
  12. Well I tried the split ring. It does help a small bit, but not enough to warrant running out and buying a pack of rings if you don't have any. If you got an oval split ring laying around, throw it on there. LC
  13. Tagging for updates because I'm struggling with the same decision lol LC
  14. Have you tried a Ned Rig or a wacky rigged senko? Give these a try and remember to fish them S L O W. LC
  15. I'm in SE TN as well. What lake you fishing? They've really been hitting on Watermelon red flake and green pumpkin for me at Melton Hill / Carbide Park. I've also had some fish on black and blue jigs when fishing deep, and white spinnerbaits, chatterbaits, etc. Not had much luck around here at all on crankbaits of any color. Only a few fish caught. I was throwing a ned rig last night with a green pumpkin TRD and caught about 6 within an hour, only 2 of any real size though. LC
  16. Care to share the answer? Lol. I can't zoom into the pic on my phone. Looks like maybe a berkley tag. LC
  17. Have any of you tried a split ring on the lure tie? I may give this a go next time I go out. LC
  18. Berkley Lightning Rod Shock Series in my experience. The tip is excellent for cranking. Against my rods that are rated fast and moderate, I'd put the tip as a moderate fast tilted slightly towards moderate. They don't list the action on the rod. Only the power. LC
  19. I have a 90 size whopper plopper that I was fishing the other day on 14lb trilene xl and count not get the bait to work correctly unless I held the rod tip very high. The bait would not do the gurgling action without enough tension on the line to pull the nose of the bait up a little bit. There could be no line floating in the water in front of the bait or it wouldn't work right. Not an issue on short casts but longer casts made it difficult. Am I doing something wrong? Line too heavy? Would a split ring on the line tie help the action? LC
  20. I don't often buy hollow body frogs, but when I do, it's a Livetarget. That or whatever MTB sends me lol. LC
  21. No pic at the moment but my finesse rig is my spinning setup: 7'1" M/F rod from company not to be mentioned Lews Tournament Pro Speed Spin 300h I think reel 15 pound test hi vis yellow power pro braid Either 8 or 12 lb test seaguar red label leader This setup covers my weightless t-rigs, wacky rigged plastics, drop shot, ned rig, mojo rig, and some very light minnow sized cranks from rapala that I can't seem to throw on a baitcaster without back lashing to the moon. LC
  22. I do the same. I've lost too many senkos after 1 fish without using the o rings. They come up and head shake and the senko goes flying. Not so much an issue with the o rings. LC
  23. Not a backlash but I had a pretty good wind knot in my spinning reel after a cast. After I sat down to pick out the wind knot and reeled in the slack I had a fish on my drop shotted senko. LC
  24. The BB1 has a multi stop reverse. You're not reeling backwards, it only moves just a bit. The BB1Z has "zero-reverse", hence the Z. This is Lews Anti Reverse. If you want anti reverse look for the models with the Z in the model #. LC
  25. Is that why I've been having so much trouble? I switched reels on my spinnerbait setup from a 6.x:1 tournament MG to a 7.x:1 tournament pro. Ever since then reeling the spinnerbait in seems to want to bend my rod in half, and I can't seem to keep the spinnerbait under water. It always wants to surface. Same problem with chatterbaits. LC
