  1. Very nice. That wacky set-up is proven man it's proven. And as far as "him not weighing the fish" I could maybe agree with you there. Because he didn't give any ounces at the end of the pounds. But 8 pounds looks pretty accurate. Nice fish.
  2. I will suggest the Texas Rig to anyone looking to catch bass in known or unknown waters. Texas Rig gets em EVERY time for me. If you're not familiar with the Texas Rig just look it up on google. There will be lots of information. You can be set up with 5 killer Texas rigs for like 10 bucks or less. I use 4/O Z shank Gamakatsu hooks with a 7 inch red spinner tail soft plastic worm. Loving these red tails. Not sure of the size weight I'm using but I think it's a 1/8 ounce slipweight. Very good set up for any size bass in my experience. A lot of people forget just how good the Texas Rig really is.
  3. This is my new-to-me 1975 nice little bass fishin' boat! I'm 20 years old and this is my first boat. It's been on the water once now under my ownership and I abbbbbbsolutely love it! 400 bucks, 15 foot, nice rolley trailer, all lights work on the boat and the trailer. Has a nice flat bottom floor for standing and casting from anywhere in the boat. I'm still looking for a 10 horse motor for her but for now I'm just using a 36lb Minn Kota trolling motor which cruises her around just fine for my small local lakes. First time out I caught some 2 lb Largemouth (not bad for my area) and had a ~4 lb dogfish come racing to the surface chasing my texas rig. It scared the CRAP outta me! I look forward to catching some monsters on this baby!
  4. I too have caught a few fish with hooks in them. I think there's probably two main reasons why this happens... 1. People go way overboard with setting the hook too hard for how light of equipment they're using, and just break the line, or pull the knot right out. 2. Amateur fisherman that don't tie the knot right. Then when they get a fish and set the hook (even though setting the hook the RIGHT way) they're pulling the poor knot right out. There's obviously other reasons why but I think these could be a couple of the bigger ones. If I ever caught a fish with a hook right in the eye like that. I would take it home and have it for dinner, better a quick death and in my stomach going to a good cause than only having one eye and struggling to survive.
  5. Tetanus shots really aren't bad. I've never been afraid of shots, though. As for the "do push-ups" afterwards, do it. My doctor told me the same thing a few years ago when I got the shot and I did, woke up the next day with no sore arm or bruise like many people talk about. As far as the hook sticking you, don't worry about it. Just keep it clean and keep an eye on it. For the future if you ever get hooked again - do the same. Keep it clean, keep an eye on it, and don't stress over it. I think one of the main reasons you were getting headaches was because you were WORRYING about the puncture so much. Stress and anxiety can throw your hormones off like crazy and cause weird symptoms like headaches, stomach aches, even nausea and hot sweats. WORRYING is something you don't want to do. I know this because I've suffered with anxiety for a few years now and when something goes wrong, the best thing you can do is look at it logically and be calm about it.
