Rather than sit inside and do nothing I gave Wequaquet a shot, launching around 1030. Five hours later after trying everything I could think of, and another boat reporting a handful of fish on a jerkbait in less than an hour, I packed it in. That’s 11 ZEROS in my last 14 trips when friends and other BR members are catching quality fish. Time to do something else for a while. Water temps were in the low 40’s, wind was 5 - 10 mph from the SW and the air pressure was 30.5. Best of luck to the membership this season.

Welcome to the forum. I don’t know of any professional guides, but you might talk to folks at local bait shops you might have out there. Here’s the state’s link for the Quabbin: https://www.mass.gov/info-details/quabbin-reservoir-fishing-guide I rent one of their boats a couple times a year from fishing area #3 (https://www.mass.gov/doc/quabbin-reservoir-boat-and-shore-fishing-access/download) and do pretty well at the launch area itself. @Fishing Rhino always does very well there too. Best of luck out there. Pack a lunch and plenty of water. It’s always a full day out there.

I fished a private pond in Chadham and Hinckley’s in Brewster today. Water temps were 40.x at both ponds. The weather was cold in the morning but warmed up nicely. Air pressure was 30.2. I threw different jerk baits, flat cranks, a couple square bills, a chatterbait, blade bait, Big TRD, and black/blue Yamamoto Kut Tail and came up empty at both ponds. I’ve skunked 10 of my last 13 trips this year. Time to do something else for a while. Best of luck to everyone out there.

Congratulations! I’m finally in Cape Cod for a few days of fishing. I stopped by Great Herring this afternoon on the way down. My hands went numb by the time I drove to the northern end and in typical Great Herring fashion, the wind picked up just after I launched. I checked out the shallower areas for a bit. Water temps ranged from 39.x to 41.x. Although the wind was supposed to be 10 mph from the SW, it felt like zero, even with the layers I had on. After losing an underspin and hair jig, I couldn’t tie another palomar knot, so I packed it in. And in typical Great Herring fashion, it was nearly calm again as I pulled away from the launch. Tomorrow’s another day. I’ll be on Cape Cod for the next few days. I’ve got my Ranger and Lure 11.5, so I sure hope I can dig up my first March fish. I’m leaning towards my kayak on small waters rather than the boat. We’ll see. It’s good other members are catching fish.

I got the skunk today @ Santuit pond. Fished it for three hours after lunch. There were two other boats there. One guy I spoke to didn't catch anything either. I stuck to the shoreline, working south to north, tossing dark soft baits, chatter bait, a couple different jerk baits, and a sliver LV500. Towards the end I moved deeper, marking little or nothing shallow and only pan fish deep. The last time I did well there was 2016, though I've rarely fished there since. I didn't catch anything my last three trips there. The water was its usual stained, pea soup color, 43.x - 45.x (S - N). Winds were about 10 mph from the south. Air pressure was 30.5.

Yes. Cape Cod has a few ponds fed by streams where Alewives and Blue Back Herring migrate to/from.

I use an Abu Veracity 6'10" ML for small jerkbaits and a Kistler custom spinning rod for larger ones. The Kistler is an Argon blank with KLX grips that copies my 6'9" KLX baitcast rod's action.

I took a ride this morning to see if any of my local ponds showed signs of life... Canton Res, Ponkapoag, Houghton's, and Blue Hills Res are locked up. Canton Res was the only one that had a smidge of open water. Unfortunately, it's the SW point visible from Pleasant street, which is private property. It looks like I'm goin' south for the next couple weeks. Hopefully I'll see some of you around Plymouth & Cape Cod.

If they've done that, it's likely the fish relocated somewhere else. Braintree did that to Sunset Lake a few years ago and I've not caught much of anything since.

I launched at Hedges after lunch. @BigEyedF11sh was already there and had couple catches. I pedaled to the northeast corner where I caught yesterday's fish and in pretty short order caught a 1.5 pound SMB on a perch Vision 110 in roughly 5' of water. I had one hit on a Yozuri flat crankbait and that was it. Water temps were 40.x and air pressure was 30.3 with little wind. A decent way to finish February. Bring on March!

Plymouth and Cape Cod are open. I caught 2 SMB & 1 YP in Plymouth today. I hope for a quick melt for you poor souls still iced over.

I hope you get the chance to fish one. My everyday is a 7’ MH/F KLX with a Revo MGX on it that weighs in around 10 ounces - spooled. Fishing rod ‘feel’ is very subjective, I find them very light and sensitive. Their fit & finish is excellent, but if you’re looking for flashy, they are not that. Best of luck fishing this year.

I drive an orange Tundra and old green CR-V and pedal a tan Lure 11.5. Both have BR decals on their rear-ends. I have some family duties in the AM and plan on an early afternoon launch.
