Do All Ponds Have Fish???
I have heard recently that all ponds, BY LAW, have to be stocked for mosquito regulations. Is this true? If this is the case, every single pond you see on the side of the road holds fish?

Bob's Fishing Hole
My dad and I are renting a fishing boat for this weekend and I really need to know some good spots at Bob's fishing hole! Bob's fishing hole is on the Northwest River. We have been there once but we only had a small jon boat and no motor. Now that we are going to have some mobility, our options have greatly increased. I would love some insight on some hot spots! Thanks

Bob's Fishing Hole
The reason we go to bobs is because it is only 20 bucks to rent a jon boat. I dont have a ton of money to spend on charters either because i am only 18.

Bob's Fishing Hole
I will be going to bobs fishing hole on the Northwest River sometime in the near future and I would like to have some insight on where to fish there. My dad and i will be renting a small jon boat and we only have a trolling motor. So we cannot go too far for the boat ramp. I was wondering if you guys had any experience at bobs fishing hole! any advice will be much appreciated! Thanks

Frog Tips?
pick up some stanley ribbit frogs. they are frogs that act more like a buzz bait. you can pick them up and good ol' walmart! those things are what work best for me.

Frog Fishing
walking the frog has always worked best for me. just like a spook. Also i would recommend picking up some stanley ribbit frogs. they act more like a buzzbait by the legs kicking. those will do some damage

Schooling Bass
and one more thing i forgot to mention. turtles. turtles are so abundant. they are also very aggressive. they will often eat lures. so fishing there is hard when the turtles are hungry. anything slow will get eaten by the turtles

Schooling Bass
I forgot to mention this in my post, but I have thrown wacky rigged senkos or different sizes and colors and flukes and there is very little interest in my bait

Schooling Bass
At a local pond, the bass feed on baitfish like CRAZY! At one end of the pond (the pond is pretty big), neighborhood families come and feed the turtles bread. The turtles tick me and other fishermen off to no end but that is a whole different story. Because of the large food supply at that end from the people, all of the fish seem to be at that end of the pond. Bluegill, shad, carp, bass, catfish, all of them are there. I see the schools of baitfish swimming pretty shallow and I watch the bass eat them up. More times than not, when I watch a school of bait fish, a bass will come eat em' up. I think the reason bass feed on bait fish so frequently is because that area is so densely populated with bait fish. With this being said, I have a very hard time getting the bass to take anything I throw at them. Are they not taking my lures because they are so focused on the bait fish? A little insight would be much appreciated!

New Person From South Va
Hello there fellow fishermen! This is my first post on bassresource so I figured I should introduce myself a little bit. I am probably among the youngest members on this site. I am 18 and I am hungry for knowledge to say the least. Just last summer I took our cheapo family fishing pole and decided to go fishing in my neighborhood pond. I tied on a crappy little beetle spin without the slightest clue on how to use it. Within only a couple casts, I felt my bait just stop. My rod tip bent and I knew a fish ate my bait. I reeled the beast in and landed my very first bass. From that moment on, I was hooked. I went fishing almost every day that summer and I loved fishing more and more each time. My parents loved that I found a hobby such as fishing and not sitting on my butt all day playing video games. Because of this, they support all of my efforts to become a better fisherman. My dad used to fish as a kid, but not with the enthusiasm that I have. We rented a jon boat that at a local fishing spot called bob's fishing hole on the Northwest River in Southern Virginia. We spent a whole day on the water. 0 fish caught. I was so ticked. How could I spend a whole day on the water and not catch a single f****** fish. I used to catch multiple fish in my pond, rarely did I walk away empty handed. It had to have been a bad day I thought. So a couple weeks later, we went out again. Same result. I was angry that I did not catch any fish but I became very intrigued as to why the fishing was so different in the pond and the larger body of water. I researched furiously and learned all about bass and their feeding habits during the different times of the year. Time has passed, my equipment has been upgraded, and my knowledge has broadened. But like one of my favorite anglers, Dave Mercer, said, "The great thing about the sport of fishing is that you never stop learning." We moved into a different neighborhood since last summer and I now live on a golf course. I fish a lot of the ponds and have landed some very sizable fish. I just have some questions for you more experienced anglers. As a family vacation, we are going to Lake Anna for a week in August. We are renting a tahoe and some kayaks. I will be spending a great deal of time fishing there! We do not have a fish finder or any electronics that will aid us with fishing. I have been looking a topo map of lake anna and I have scoped out a couple good looking spots (deep spots, ledges, main points). I was wondering if anyone could provide me with some information on fishing in Lake Anna. Here is the topo map: http://www.topoquest...e=zoomin&size=m The lake house is in Contrary Creek and that is a topo map of the area close to our location. Please let me know your thoughts on where to fish. (We will be there at the beginning of August so the fish will most likely be deep)
