  1. i have those in my lews bb1 and they are necessary because there isnt a anti reverse bearing.
  2. welcome to the internet...you must be new here!
  3. I would look at getting a bluetooth earpiece if you want to be able to use your phone without taking it out of your drybag. and as for a dry bag I cant help you with that. Also you could get a samsung or apple watch if you really wanted to
  4. My father-in-law closes his eyes and tries to touch the rod tip on a carpeted floor and see if he can feel it.
  5. I like the hedgehog tool but you have to use it right. i can say that I have never and will never scratch my spool shaft using it but you do need to be careful not to bend the pin on the crosswrench.
  6. you kinda asked for it. no offense was meant im sure but your asking a lot of questions that you could have found answers to by searching, along with assuming that mustad hooks are the best thing since sliced bread.
  7. Their*
  8. you can "get away with" 8-10lb if you want to. in reality I use 12lb and didnt lose a fish all year last year.
  9. I've noticed that. the long spool shaft daiwas dont have a second bearing on the spool side of the pinion. just the one on the brake side and the one under the spool tension knob..
  10. it seems thats exactly what daiwa did... or has been doing, according to another post. its a gread idea though and thats why I am still interested in the zillion.
  11. I currently have 3 revos and do like them. I had a Attila last year and wasn't 100% impressed but liked some features and after reading the zillion has a free spool and a double supported pinion. And that feature alone almost got me to buy a curado I but I just find all shimano reel to be ugly. That and I had an old Calais and curado and didn't like them. I know a lot of people really like them and now with this post I have opened the flood gates but it's a hard sell and I can get the same performance from other brands that I find more aesthetically pleasing.
  12. That's what has me hesitant in regards to the zillion.
  13. I am looking for a new high-end reel. I am looking at the zillion and the elite 8. This would most likely be used for plastics and the like so I will be getting a high speed reel. I know not many will have first hand knowledge of the elite series reel but would like to hear what you would do with your money.
  14. Here are some pics of just how much tackle you can fit in a cabelas magnum bag. I know there are a couple other threads asking about them This is a large bag and with everything in it I would say it weighs around 28-32Lbs.
  15. I feel its always good to cover as many ratios as you can. let the fish tell you how fast to retrieve the bait
  16. the revo stx has a 2 piece spool shaft and the pinion wont affect casting distance. like the others have said sounds like too much oil. when they say one drop they mean the smallest drop you can imagine. you only need enough to cover the surfaces.
  17. Super magnum might be a little big. I have the magnum and it holds a lot. Just don't buy it with the Plano boxes already in it. They are all 2" thick and you can get more of the 1.38" thick boxes in it.
  18. Good information from all you guys. I am curious how much room some of you guys have in your boats for tackle? I will have to take some pics so you have an idea of what I lug around when I get in the boat. And if I was bank fishing I wouldn't bring half of what I do now.
  19. I do have dedicated boxes for plastics but I keep all of the in their original packaging. Within the boxes I sort them by type of worm, flukes & minnows, craws, frogs, and tubes. I don't really sort by color but I have a good idea where everything is so it isn't hard to get to.
  20. Two last year, one the year before, and one as a kid. The 2 last year were both under warranty, one was a pinnacle and I was casting a spinnerbait and the top 4" just came off and the other was a Abu Garcia veritas where the guide insert in the tip came out somehow.
  21. My father in law is letting me "have" his duck boat. Its a 14' alumacraft and I will be building a deck out of synthetic bowling lane panels. Its already waterproof and strong. I'm just going to build a 2x4 frame for in between the seats. I haven't figured out how to strap it down yet but that will be easy.
  22. I'm curious what everyone else uses their space for and how much space you dedicate for tackle. Feel free to show pic if you feel like. I will start. Since I do not technically own a boat I need to be able to take it with me from place to place. I live in the twin cities mn and fish quite a bit with my father in law and then I go up to the cabin in central mn (90minute drive). So everything I need must fit in a cabelas advanced angler tackle bag size magnum. It holds 4x3600 Plano stairways and the main bag holds 16" worth of 3700 series boxes. I have that divided up with 4 1.38" boxes, 2 2" boxes, and 2 3.25" boxes. Those 2 big boxes are for plastics (accounting for over 1/3rd of my space). the 2 2" boxes are for frogs, topwater (spooks and buzzbaits), jig and spinner/Buzz/chatterbait trailers, swimbaits, and some misc like a lighter and bandaids. The 4 thin boxes are 1 for jigs and chatterbaits, 1 for shallow cranks, 1 for deep cranks, and the last for bass hooks and weights. 1 3600 is for spinnerbaits, one is for live bait fishing, one is for panfish, and the other is all dropshot plastics. If I know I'm not going to use something like the live bait or panfish I will take it out and add other stuff. I have read that some of you guys have 10+ boxes of jigs and others have a lot of crankbaits and I'm wondering how you use what space you have?
  23. I think any reel looks good on a LTB. I use a revo stx and a less tp.
  24. When did we start talking about golf?!? TAC grips. I like it too but Im up in the air about an entire grip made from it like the aetos rods. I love it as a reel knob but really prefer cork on the rod handle.
