  1. How is the knot breaking? I have zero issues throwing a 15 lb CXX leader on 50 lb braid with a wide variety of baits.
  2. Yeah I'm with the farmer on this one. Blue is the lazy man's comedy.
  3. Quality nylon if you don't like Fluorocarbon and can dedicate a rod.
  4. The TW Backpack is okay. Stands up nicely on its own which is cool.
  5. Gimmicky and, up until relatively recently, faulty. I should note that I am a four fingers in front of the trigger palmer and wide-nose reels don't agree with that.
  6. Dick's has very good sales for Memorial Day. Buy one-get one 50% off on a whole mess of things. So I own two LC Gunfish 117's now I guess. Probably going back for Spro rats and LT sunfish. Still resisting the two S-Cranks for $30 thing.. for now.
  7. 4/0 EWG, tails up.
  8. Swing Impact for kick, Easy Shiner for roll, Fat Impact for both.
  9. TW got me. Mostly essentials but I splurged on a new whopper plopper 90 bluegill pattern and a firetiger cavitron for the post spawn bluegill bite.
  10. 15 lb CXX makes for an excellent small pike leader.
  11. I use Alberto. Make sure you "set" the knot after cinching down by holding both stands of leader and pulling hard on the braided mainline. That prevents slipping. Tied properly it is a very small knot.
  12. On the one hand I hate the Twing, on the other hand I'd like some 9:1's. Let me know how that Zilion SV works out please.
  13. Casting. It's a good job for an Alphas.
  14. USPS online. Weigh and measure it yourself, pay online, and drop it off. I've done $20-22 insured including the $7 for PVC and endcaps at the hardware store. Just keep it at 7'11" or under.
  15. 5/0 weighted Owner Twistlock or 4/0 Owner Beast if you're running a heavier rod. Both sit nicely in the hook slot of the 4.8" Fat Impact. The 5/0 Twistlock comes through cover a little better while the 4/0 Beast has a larger gap and a bit more weight to it. The Eagle Claw isn't a bad hook either. It has a nice gap like the Beast but is a less stout hook so you can use lighter tackle. I haven't found a weighted hook that I love for the 3.8" yet so I will be buying some of that 3/0 underspin hook posted above.
  16. The Lexa 300 and Curado 300 are popular. Abu has some larger low-profile reels as well.
  17. So these are supposed to move better then the Fat Impacts at both low and high speeds? That is interesting and something I must see for myself. The ribs helping with deflection could actually be a thing. I suppose we'll see shortly if we should classify this bait as a knock-off or an improvement. THE ANTICIPATION! Also I am loving the strawmen and rustled jimmies in this thread. You guys keep me young.
  18. Yuuup. Alligator nuggets are the future.
  19. Alligator does taste like chicken. It's pretty good. Also I've got Smallmouth and Bluegill on beds here.
  20. Slack line presentations, especially when the wind is blowing.
  21. Step 1: ignore every salesperson at Bass Pro Shops. Step 2: shop online for a sub $100 Tatula. Step 3: profit!
  22. Braid to fluoro for better popping. Straight braid for less popping.
